I think at this point, it's obvious that they know who they're going with. They screentested last month. I'm speculating that either the signing process isn't finished yet, or they're deliberately holding off the announcement in order to make the biggest splash they can with it: whether it be a picture of the actor in the suit or an announcement of both the actor and director at the same time.

personally i cant see the actor not locked in yet. As i keep pointing out we how much time is left, on top of what time in that is left in atlanta mind you. And all the pre filming things that need to be set. Actor is more then likely locked in and will be shooting in the next 3-4 weeks time frame. And it is really just marvel/sony waiting to drop the news to get that big press time out of it. And it makes the most sense to get it out of the way within the next two weeks. So again we are ahead of wb/dc news at comic con, out of the way on antman for the marvel studios folks. And if we drop it now, it likely will be the biggest news item for the next few weeks.

I actually don't think it's obvious. Could you please explain it. Not mad just curious

I don't have a problem with a gay Spider-Man, provided that it's not Peter Parker. Peter can be presented as bi or pan, sure, but it'd really go against him as a character to be flat-out gay. Hell, it's been eight years and I'm still pissed at Quesada for undermining Peter and MJ's marriage in "One More Day." I'm not expecting it to actually happen, but I'd love for Marvel to fix that particular problem post-"Secret Wars."

It's great to read about Sony and Marvel having the set rules of what Peter should be. Among those things, it's that he should be a heterosexual caucasian. Meaning - like in the comics.

It's pretty funny to read the outrage from some people that Sony and Marvel stick to the source material.

I mean, Peter not being caucasian I wouldn't have any problem with. But making him homosexual would change too much of his lore. Sorry folks, if you want a homosexual superhero, look somewhere else.
I would. I'm not white but I'm not of the camp believing that changing a character's race isn't a big deal. Moreover, if they did then most likely he would be changed to black - instead of another minority and that would annoy me even more considering there are plenty of black superheroes in the mcu and changing peter to be black would mean there would be two black spidermen in a single continuity, while the whole purpose of creating MM was to have a black spiderman.

c i think that issue might be fixed in the comics or i do at least hope its one of a few things i hope are altered with post secret wars MU.

I wouldn't mind if Peter was pitching for the same team if ya know what I mean. Maybe Mary Jane can be a transgender man. And Gwen can be a guy named Gary.

*Gets hit by tomato*

Mhm, nevermind.

boy i think we should nip this type of talk now, before we spend the next 40 pages on hate posts and clogging things up.

Usually, after a final series of actors do screentests, a decision is made very soon after. For example, the first time around, they chose Andrew a few days after they tested him along with the other finalists. Almost every time I've heard of a final group of actors testing for a role, it's maybe at most a week before we hear who got the part. It is possible that they might still be deliberating and perhaps doing more screentests with the frontrunners, but I do think it's very possible that they have a strong idea of who they want.

The problem for me is that if they change him to black, he would have to deal with the turmoil that blacks go through and it would limit story possibilities. The best stories are when writers place Peter in a situation where he's this innocent kid and he may have to to the edge. Kinda like Superman or the team ups involving Daredevil and Punisher

Okay. That makes sense

I just want to have the news so we can finally move on and have real 100% proof info to talk about.

Errrrrm not quite sure what you mean by this...

What I mean is that they would have to bring up Rascism especially in modern times and since it's something go through every day, it would get old really fast. On terms of story possibilities. I'm thinking from the perspective of writers in Hollywood

I haven't checked out Renew Your Vows yet, but I'm hoping that at least part of that manages to stick itself into the MU after Secret Wars. It's time to get Peter back on track.

Growing up as a kid, it was really cool to go through Peter's ongoing history in the comics, because there was an actual sense of progression that went on over the years. Peter starts off as a nerd in high school and slowly grows into the hero he needed to be. He falls in love with Gwen, only to play a part in her father's death and then ultimately lose her too. He grieves and eventually falls in love with MJ and marries her. He loses Aunt May and Harry. MJ gets pregnant and then Peter retires from being Spidey for awhile. They lose their baby. So on and so forth.

Taking Peter's marriage with Mary Jane away robbed him of that progression. He went from being an incredibly human character to being just like any other comic book hero. As a kid, I was always hoping that he and MJ would end up having another kid and we'd see Peter grow into the role of being a father.

ya i am very curious to see what will be the status quo for peter and his supporting players post secret wars tales.

I'm reading Alex Ross's Marvels and I've decided that if Holland straightens and cuts his hair he'll look like that Peter.

Well, from the look of his Instagram pic this past week, Holland has cut his hair. We just don't know exactly what it looks like yet, since it's a photo of him from the back.

Really enjoying RYV, but be warned that its different.

I was glad to see this, I really don't like the style he has on his twitter profile. He suits longer hair I think but not like that.

That's fine for me. I'll see what I think of it when I get a chance to read through it (probably after summer's over).

His twitter profile pic is a bit weird. He looks like Josh Hutcherson in that photo, probably due to the camera angle.

Yeah it could work. Rowe finally got his hair back and looks like he cut it too from his instagram

Wait, did Rowe cut his hair again? Just after finally getting it to a short, but reasonable length for Peter?

EDIT: It seems his hair's still reasonable.
