I don't think you really get the reference at all.

Ferris Bueller doesn't have a "Lola" car. Ferris's friend Cameron (played by Alan Ruck) has a father who owns a prized classic red 1961 Ferrari which Ferris convinces Cameron to take on a joy ride around town and racks up a ton of mileage. At the end of the movie, Ferris and Cameron try to tinker with the odometer while the car is jacked up. Cameron eventually leans upon the car and knocks it off the jack and it plummets through a glass garage wall into a ravine below.

Coulson's prized possession is called "Lola" which is a classic red 1962 Corvette sports car, which Coulson doesn't want to get damaged or scratched in any way - hence why he often says "Don't touch Lola!" which has almost become his catchphrase.

The homage is Peter somehow damaging Coulson's car instead of the red Ferrari in Ferris Bueller as a nod to John Hughes.

The homage doesn't work at all with Fury.
Then I get it

But who's to say that Fury doesn't have a vintage car which he holds dear?

Still hoping for Shocker. If they want someone to pave the way to his bigger, more fantastical villains, he's the guy

I like Shocker a lot, but I doubt he'll be the main villain for the film. If we see him in the MCU, he'll probably be there more as a side-villain or opening baddie.

Because he's never indicated he has one, and having both Fury and Coulson having red 1960s classic sports cars that are prized would just seem repetitive and done just for the sake of trying to fit Fury into that homage. It's well established already that Coulson has one and has become a running joke that he won't let anyone touch it, so now to suddenly give something similar to Fury is rather contrived.

It would be like plucking some random character with red hair who is bubbly and vivacious to be Peter's girlfriend in addition to Mary Jane, when there's already a perfectly good character in MJ herself.

I hope for Shocker as well! He could bring not only the badass action, but also provide some fun for Spider-Man. He's a pretty human villain, which could be fun to see.

Andrew Garfield & Tobey Maguire (Tobey especially) should make cameo appearances in this movie.

Stan Lee says hi.

Did Stan Lee ever play Spider-Man before in the previous movies?

When they're trying to establish Tom Holland as the definitive Marvel Spider-Man, they don't need the shadow of Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire hanging over him in this film by showing up and then people comparing him to them.

Tobey and Andrew can play a gay couple and Peter saves their baby. But when he gives it bac he stops and stares at them for a while saying "Sorry, you two just look familiar". Then he webs off.

Part of me is kidding but the other half thinks that'd be hilarious.

Haha. Wouldn't that be something.

That would be pretty hilarious, actually. I dunno if Tobey or Andrew would even want to cameo in the new film though.

He's being compared to Andrew Garfield/Tobey Maguire somewhere on the internet right now, he's going to be compared to Andrew/Tobey after people see his movie, he's going to be compared to them even after he becomes the DEFINITIVE Spider-Man. Point is, people will always compare Tom to Andrew/Tobey because they came before him.

There's no practically no way that Andrew Garfield & Tobey Maguire making cameos would overshadow or stop Tom from becoming the definitive Spider-Man. It's just a nice little wink to what came before.

Unless he sucks. :oldrazz:

Stan Lee making cameos all the time isn't the same as either of the two actors from before showing up. The most appropriate acknowledgement there could be is either of them wishing Tom good luck and giving him their blessing on their own.

I think Tobey would be up for it. I'm not sure about Andrew, he seems to be taking it a little worse than Tobey when his franchise was rebooted.

I just think it would be awesome.

I'd be down with Tobey making a cameo

I can't really blame Andrew for that though. Spider-Man was his dream role and he put in a lot of effort into his performances, only to get questionable scripts and a lot of negative backlash, only to get put on the wayside once Spidey joined the MCU.

Kinda reminds me of what happened to Colin Baker during his run in the 80's as the Sixth Doctor. :csad:

Maybe Terrence Howard should've made a cameo in Iron Man 2, and Edward Norton made a cameo in The Avengers as well when they were trying to establish Don Cheadle and Mark Ruffalo respectively. :o

Completely different.

A cameo may be alright, but I think Marvel wants to distance themselves. The only actor I'd like to see return is JK Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson. I do, however, like the actor who played Menken in ASM2 to play Vulture.

RE: the John Hughes thing. I see it being more in the tone of Sixteen Candles, Breakfast Club, and Pretty In Pink. Ferris Bueller seems a bit too jokey and self aware. However, if Marvel thinks Spidey should be similar to how the Ultimate cartoon works, I'd rather they aim for a Ferris Bueller tone, than Ultimate (at least Hughes was witty). I'd rather he not break the 4th wall. I wouldn't mind him talking to himself while swinging, I think that's a staple of Spidey, whether in the comics or the numerous cartoon series. His nervous energy coming from a running inner monologue out his "motor" mouth.

I'm not really thinking of the tone of Ferris Bueller with breaking the fourth wall, but more like the general template of the film where Peter has to take the day off, but unlike Ferris, he has to do it for legitimate reasons to stop a super villain rather than just playing hooky from school.
