Avengers 5 and 6 have been hyped up since they were announced and even after the whole Jonathan Major drama, it never really died. It didn't need RDJ as Doom to sell that. The idea of all these past Marvel characters getting together in a movie would've sold these movies in an instant. It would've blown Endgame out of the water.

I think maybe certain fanboys were hyped to see C-tier heroes fight Kang.

The general audience checked out mostly.

No way Avengers 5 makes 2.8 billion with the current Avengers line-up.

Lol they didn’t need to plan it over the weekend. I’m sure they could have gotten literally all of the Fox actors back.

I think you guys are underestimating how hard it is to free up the schedule of 6 or 7 actors.

Also most of the Fox X-men actors were poorly cast.

Bringing them back is worse than the beloved RDJ coming back

So there's a theory out there that the Doctor Doom in the MCU comes from a world where there were no Avengers and that the only heroes are the Fantastic 4. Don't know if that becomes the reason this casting is justified.

I think it's easier to get Maguire and Jackman (which they'll probably will still do) than get the X-men.
