Ms. Marvel Marvel Studios' Ms. Marvel General Discussion Thread

To me, the portrayal of her culture and religion in a more positive light is a bigger deal to me than the villains. Even if these were great villains, I would not think this was a great show if it had the usual trope of "we have characters who are Muslim, therefore evil. They are Islam, so therefore also evil" which I have said many times that portrayal bores me to death (I am not Muslim, so I don't find it offensive, just boring). So far only Ms. Marvel and FBI have portrayed the religion of Islam in a positive light in Hollywood. In fact, I would have turned this show off after the first episode if they had gone with the whole "Muslims are evil trope" even if the villains had been good. The portrayal of her culture is what has kept me hooked onto the show from Day One.

Who said the villains had to be that type at all?

I would've made Wrecking Crew the villains and like Hammerhead their boss.

This show really ended up being a pleasant surprise for me as well. Sure, it wasn't perfect, but it managed to set up a lot of potentially awesome stuff coming down the line and unlike Multiverse of Madness or Love and Thunder, it actually made me pretty excited to see what comes next for the main character.

Iman Vellani is a huge star in the making, and I can't wait see what they do with her in The Marvels. Also, this is definitely a top tier Disney Plus Marvel show for me although I don't know exactly where I'd put it right now.

It's by far my favorite MCU show and my only criticism is I wish the show was longer and had that Marvel Netflix mandate of 13 episodes just to hang out with these characters even more. I also hope there's a season 2.

They’ve cast her so well. I’m really excited that she’s now going to be an important part of the MCU going forward. She’s so fun to watch. :D

I would want 10 at least. Then they might have had time to give the villains a bit of character too. But the show has been something I look forward to every week to give me a happy buzz so I wouldn’t complain about more.

I wish they had a better way to establish what the ideal amount of episodes is for the story they want to tell. The Netflix shows often dragged while the D+ shows are often rushed and oddly paced. I don't see a reason to make all shows adhere to a specific format whether that is 6 episodes or 9 episodes or 13 episodes. Maybe one show should have 4 episodes and another should have 15. It's on a streaming platform so it doesn't need specific timeslots and the platform's owned by the same company so there shouldn't be such harsh demands for a specific length up front.

I need a gif of Kamala doing the peace sign with her embiggened hands.

Still the villains didn't matter to me more than how her religion was portrayed. To me that was the #1 reason I like this show.

Whoever said the bangles are the cosmic nega-bands, I believe you are correct.

this show made me feel alot of emotions - on a level no other mcu show really made me feel...which makes this my favorite disney+ show.

Just saw the finale good finale and surprisingly one of the better MCU shows on Disney + but I have a major gripe about

Kamala maybe being a Mutant and how they even played the 90s theme song

Really great finale! Sad that I think only a few people are watching lol but that ending is going to make rounds

It really is a love letter to optimism amongst all the other good stuff. I started rewatching again and it’s just as fun second time. Will just skip the villain parts this time lol. Glad the creators got so much out of making it and are happy with it.
