Marvel universe MMOG

I wonder if they're aware how stupid they made themselve look from a gamer standpoint.

"How many MMOs have launched since "City of Heroes." Just a couple"

Just a couple? No. That would imply like 3 or 4. I can name 5 off the top of my head that have been launched since 05. ****ing morons.

Not to mention that they didn't really say anything [not that I was expecting much] other than "well we can't tell you anything other than theres going ot be some stuff you didnt expect and that we're working on it".

but think of the possibilities :yay:

I'm honestly thinking it will be like CoH/CoV only with a little more substance. Which IMO isn't a good thing.

I think in the newsarama article they implied that actual marvel characters were not going to be used.

That's what I figured too

I imagine the marvel characters will be NPCs and trainers and what not

It will still be cool though. Imagine creating a character, fighting the Green Goblin in the skies about new york, joining the Avengers, fighting alongside Captain America, and so on....the possibilities are endless

I'm drooling at the prospects

Yeah, what I meant to say was, youre not going to be able to play as the characters.

See, thats what people thought about CoH/CoV and look how that worked out.

Which makes sense. There are only a finite number of Marvel characters, and while that number is huge, you'll probably have way more players. Still, it might be interesting if they eventually made the NPC Marvel characters playable and ran a contest that all players could enter to decide who got to play them.

Yeah. City of Heroes was somewhat dissapointing. The City of Villains expansion was even moreso. I mean, I couldn't even kill a ****ing civillian. How am I to live out my homicidal fantasies of I can't take a broadsword and decapitate random pedestrians? Plus, the inability to actually go into the main hero territories and fight real PC heroes was sucky. There were the PVP zones, but those weren't any fun. Especially since no one stayed dead. Got very tedious.

MMORPGs tend to gain far more than 5,000 players.

To have people actually be the marvel characters would be the worst idea since...well...I can't really think of something thats really bad. Maybe uhhh, Flavored condoms?

Why? I mean, if they made it into a contest, starting with the lesser known characters and working their way up to the Spider-Man and Captain America types, it could work out.

They better have elements that allow you to make characters that look a lot like established Marvel ones since that was one of their main gripes with CoH.

Easy. Take for instance, someone starts to play as Speedball. Or someone like Moonknight. Not a top character, but a decently well known one.

Then they just decide to stop playing for a long time, or just completly act a jackass on the game, ruining the character ingame. Then what? What if a true diehard speedball fan or Moonknight fan was forced to play as Ant-man or something?

Trust me, it wouldn't fly well with the gen public, unless it was a game like XML/XML2.

Well, if they don't play for a pre set amount of time, the character could be considered "up for grabs" and be included in upcoming contests.
