On The Road Again: Way Talks "Ghost Rider"

Well, it's a shame he's not going to use the Penance Stare. I was always very fond of that. It was such a wonderfully poetic power. However, everything else sounds incredibly exciting. Especially him delivering baddies kicking and screaming to the gates of Hell!! Mw-ha-ha. :ghost:

And thank God Tex is back on the job. Just look at that pic. Bang on! Best GR artist ever, period.

Can't wait.

It's strange that Saltares wasn't mentioned. I wonder if he's still on the project. I hope so!

i wonder if Tex and Javier just swapped jobs as compared to the 90s series. Tex might be doing the actual line art this time and Javier the inking.
guess we should hear more in the coming months...
im still hoping Saltares does some of the actual art somewhere during the series...ive always preferred his artwork for Ghost Rider.

regardless that was a very cool article...shame about the Penance Stare though :(
other than that it sounds very promising

That little bit on Danny potentially being a part of the story made me smile inside.

These are really promising news.

I will also miss the Penance Stare, but if the character is handled right there are a lot of chances to make up for this loss, I'd say.

Hey guys, good news...just relax...and breathe slowly...

:) Javier Saltares is still on the job...doing the breakdowns, and Tex will do the finishing over his work...:ghost:

Im glad that they didnt throw away the Dan Ketch run and that he is hoping to integrate it one day. Dan Way has a lot of story holes that I hope he will fill in without destroying Dan's run.

WHOA, Wait a minute, He said no penance stare. I glossed right over that subconsciously assuming he would be wasting their souls another way. This is crazy. If GhostRider can't do that then WTF

Danny Ketch, again?
Oh, no...
:( :down
He´s already a legend, being a GR for 8 years, but that´s it.
New host or a pure evil 100% GR. please!!!!!!

I don't know what to think about the whole pennance stare thing yet. I was a big fan of that power... however, there is something interesting about him just beating you to the point of pain that you inflicted on others... unless they're bringing back the hellfire blasts...

It sounds like their sort of doing what the movie is--use the chain and the look of Ketch's rider, but with Johnny Blaze and his story. I would expect, for that reason, that the hellfire blasts will be returning. Personally, I'd like to see him return to the Marvel Spotlight Ghost Rider where, rather than blasting hellfire, he could make it appear from anywhere and manipulate it however he wanted. That would be a nice touch for the "penance with no penance stare" angle.

It will be interesting to see how the bike transforms, I always liked that he created the bike out of hellfire, perhaps they will use the hellfire effects metal idea from the movie.

I never liked that hellfire created bike. I do like hellfire blasts on a regular bike changing it into a hellcycle though.

As for Blaze having hellfire blasts again... I say yeah, he will... but from his mouth like the recent mini. That is a HELL of a lot better to me than from his hands.

I've never liked blasts from hands...

I won't miss the penance stare, since (except in some alternate universes in Exiles) the Blaze GR didn't have the penace stare.

True, but they are using a mix of both Ghost Riders in the movie.

Do we really want the movies to determine the direction of the comics?

The movie universe is its own universe - I hope it doesn't start determining the direction of the comics.

Right Right. He was refering to the comics. Damn. My mistake there.

You're right though, I really don't want the movies to push the comics but, I would like to see them work together creating the best possible GR. Plus, there is no way they can ignore each other.

ongoing series and a movie? this could be the breakout year for ghost rider! here's to hoping the series will never stop and the sequels for the film!

The penance stare is only as good as the after effect. I think the stare is a phenomonal trait, but after the stare there needs to be a good terror shot of the victim. Thats always been missing. I think you need a couple of adders to establish how terrifying the stare is. A- you need to hear the scream, B- you need to see the tremble, C- you need to see a combination flashback of the reversing inflicted terror, D- you need to see after effects. Without any of this, the stare is just assumed.

Fire from the mouth? I don't buy it. Its like burping after a hot burrito. I think the fire has to be from the hands, or like the stare, from the eyes. Hell I think the chain from the mouth was ridiculous in the mini.

IMHO like the bike that has its own personality, I think the chain he wears should also have that trait. Like Doc Oc's tentacle arms in the spidey movie, or in the comics Spawns cape.

Just my 02. cents

Now trapped in hell, with the Spirit of Vengeance bonded to his immortal soul and weighing him down

Flamehead, there is the answer to the question you posed during our last discussion.

However it poses a new question. Marvels character profile clearly says JB is bonded back to Zarathos, but as we see here it says spirit of vengeance.
Of course JB's GR was originally refered to as being the spirit of vengeance, but I thought they had currently made a distinction.........

Don't know if I'm looking forward to a Sliverstri cover. Well, I'll be reserving these in the coming weeks now. Going to be a very good July.

Maybe they decided that he will be bonded to Knoble Kale. Perhaps the deal that was made by his and Dan's mother that he will not be a host is no longer valid as he has died and gone to hell, it was clearly Blaze in control in the mini but who's to say what Way has in store for us.
