Marvel vs. Capcom 3

The way I see this is like this: Sentinels are scrubs in the comics. Even Jubilee was able to toast one with a "mega PAF" (kinky), so this is basically an accuracy patch. Nothing more.

Haha, I made the same joke over at Penny Arcade. :funny:

Some glitches and the Spencer corner infinite combo were fixed, too.

Mixed feelings on the Sentinel patch.

Sentinel:
Health reduced to 905,000
Standing Special (s): 120,000 up from 100,000
Human Catapult (hard only): 160,000 up from 150,000

Losing a 3rd of his life in a single patch is dramatic. There's a fine line between balancing for character variety and nerfing so hard it makes a character useless. But to be fair, he had more health than Tron and Hulk with much more speed, projectile negators up the ying-yang, and very basic Touch of Death combos. And if I'm reading that correctly, he actually got a damage BUFF. I guess time will tell how this works out.

I wish this would make players choose Sentinel less and pick up other fighters.
I'm sick of fighting him online.

Sentinel nerfed already? He isn't that good anyway and many bad matchups were getting discovered. I don't think he would have lasted too much longer on the scene. He has nearly zero mixup ability other than gimmick command grab. Most of his usefulness is against people who don't know how to play against him and constantly run into his armored moves, DHC into his great damage (isn't that what you'd want from a battery type character?) and Xfactor 3 (which I admit, needed to be toned way down). Sent is so big, easy to mixup, and needed that health

EDIT: I second a Thor Buff. Being a Slow tank is fine, I like slow tanks...but his normals are soooo slow and horrendous it makes him nearly unusable. Sure, he'll bring the hurt on a DHC but Thornado's range is AWFUL, his Shockwave does crap damage along with his hyper throw

Dear Sentinel players, Please dont call out his assist... He will die so fast. Now you must play him on point.

Checked this out for myself- Storm's Supers shave off half his health if he's caught as an assist, and almost all of it when she has Level 3 X-Factor. If he has to be on point, this also diminishes the complaints about Level 3 X-Factor.

True. How will he fair on point against the other player's speedy, mixup heavy point character? The best he has are unblockable setups with a low assist while in flight or a more viable zoning based team with Doom missles and the like

I'm so happy at the Sentinel patch. That hunk of junk shouldn't of been in the game in the first place. If Capcom wanted to please the tourney dudes, they should of picked Psylocke. She became popular half-way through MvC2's life span.

For anyone confused on what the "Spencer glitch" is, it still works on Arthur and Joe. This is how I went about testing it on Arthur in Training:

1. Picked Haggar and Spencer, with Haggar on point, and set the dummy team to Arthur/Joe/(Random).
2. Used Haggar's air down C to ground bounce Arthur.
3. Delayed Haggar's projectile motion Super so it connected right before he fell out of range.
4. Canceled into Spencer's DP Super on the 4th hit; the idea is to bring him as close to the ground while still in hitstun without letting him land.

Done right, Spencer will continue his cinematic, but Arthur will be stuck in the ground and won't take further damage from the rest of the combo (I'm assuming his hurt boxes stay with his character model). After about 4 seconds, Arthur spirals into the air as if you launched him and goes back to his non-glitched state. Joe's the same, but rather than doing it before he falls, you need to keep him high off the ground.

This reads complicated, but notated, it's just air down C, QCF + 2P, xx DP + 2P. The only complex part is the timing. There are bigger combo lead-ins for Haggar, but if you just want to do it yourself, the pipe's the easiest way into it.

Good. Sentinel really had no business being the character with the most health in the game. Like Ferret said I see this as an accuracy patch.

Considering that fighting a good Sentinel can take too much time to beat, I do think a health nerf a good, but I think they went a bit too far.

He honestly needed a damage nerf or a nerf to his X-factor. Over 200% damage at lvl 3 is just way too much.

I hope this means I'll be seeing him less online. Not that I couldn't beat him or anything(I've managed to take down some Sentinels), but I'm just sick of seeing him every 9 out of 10 matches. I know damn well some of those people were only using him for his power.

I do feel sorry for the people who actually liked him and don't spam "NEUTRALIZE!" every 5 seconds.

Id have also decreased the damage on his HP energy beam that people always spam.

Anyways I think Capcom dropped the ball on the costume DLC. They should have had a steady stream of them released or at least have a schedule. I cant beleive nothings been announced since the first one last month. I really thought they'd release a pack every week or every 2 weeks. What is it going to be now, once a month? Once every 2 months?

ok but when Black Ops and Reach dropped...we knew when were getting DLC

And even better example the SVR franchise....they are really on it about DLC and have dates set...you'd think that this being Capcoms golden goose they would be on it.

i dunno... i wouldn't call this game there golden goose... i think there other games... like i don't know Resident Evil... are more important and popular to them

I think they should also nerf Hulk a bit. Get rid of his super armor, because it blocks out most counter attacks, making it hard to deal with people who throw his H atk all the time.

You realize that it only breaks through 1 attack, right? Hit him twice and his animation cancels.

Now, I'll be the first to admit that Hulk's H>S>M>H>S combo does a ******ed amount of damage and is incredibly easy to pull off since his H is armored, but if they took that away from him he'd be complete and total garbage.

Hulk's armor and damage are fine. Big, slow bruisers should be dangerous up close. Damage needs to be fixed, but the damage characters do in their normal states is appropriate. It's X-Factored damage that needs to be lowered, or- as I'd prefer- reimagined.

I like Hulk where he is. Of course he's the backbone of my team so I'm a bit biased

..... it's only been 23 days

I really expected that to be the case here but we've heard nothing since the first announcement. I was hoping for new packs every week

meh, i just want them to let us know we're getting more then setting dates. Didnt they hint at something at the end of the month?

if we get something at the first/end and middle of every month id be happy.

but i think not giving us a big map right away adds more "want" and "hype" to the DLC

Agreed. Waiting too long, the hype might die.
