Eh, nevermind.

To each his own.

In other non arguing news, Event mode is live.

It's the new mode they have advertised where you do offline and online challenges with specific rules. These earn you new titles.

One example is finishing single player with a health handicap.

I won't get to actually try it until tonight when I get home.

Just browsed through it. Disappointing, to say the least. I'd rather Capcom make spectator mode possible than "play through Arcade only using team Supers."

Been getting better with Wesker. You can really mess somebodies day up with all his teleporting. I LOVE it!

from what i've read on eventhubs, this mode seems super lame and I probably wont even bother with it. Here are some of the challenges

(from eventhubs.com)

1. Event Match 01, Arcade — Finish Arcade with a diminished vitality gauge (final battle excluded).

2. Event Match 02, Arcade — Finish Arcade without using Hyper Combos (final battle excluded).

3. The Road to Victory 01, Online — Win one online match.

4. The Road to Victory 02, Online — Win five online matches.

5. The Road to Victory 03, Online — Win ten online matches.

6. The Road to Victory 04, Online — Win 30 online matches.

7. The Road to Victory 05, Online — Win 50 online matches.

8. Event Match 03, Arcade — Finish Arcade with only Hyper Combos doing damage (final battle excluded).

9. I Got Next! 01, Online — Win two online matches in a row.

10. I Got Next! 02, Online — Win three online matches in a row.

11. I Got Next! 03, Online — Win five online matches in a row.

12. I Got Next! 04, Online — Win seven online matches in a row.

13. I Got Next! 05, Online — Win ten online matches in a row.

14. Event Match 04, Arcade — Finish Arcade mode with normal attacks shaving off vitality (final battle excluded).

15. Event Match 05, Arcade — Finish Arcade with only combos of 5 hits or more dealing damage (final battle excluded).

16. Event Match 06, Arcade — Finish Arcade with a gradually decreasing vitality gauge (final battle excluded).

17. Event Match 07, Arcade — Finish Arcade with only Team Aerial Combos doing damage (final battle excluded).

50 challenges total

Im glad they have this should have launched with it. I loved these Trials from SFIV and hated when SSFIV removed them.

They seem like fun diversions. Just like you mentioned it's like the trials for SFIV.

Much more fun than the mission mode.

Also, it's free, so why not. If Capcom keep adding modes like this and shadow mode for free, I'm all for it. At least they're not dumb and/or greedy enough to attempt to charge for this.

I agree. I dont care much for offline modes in my fighting games, i feel it takes resources away from the core gameplay

I like Event Mode, it gives a reason to play Arcade after you got all the endings.

The one where you can only use Supers p***ed me off though, I got stuck on Round 5 against Zero, Ammy & Joe.

Put Morrigan on your team and pick her Assist Y. Hang back, spam her assist, and win.

Did that with Ryu. You have 3 meters in no time, 'cause you don't have to be stationary.

Thats crazy. My brain doesnt process information that fast to be able to do half of those combos

Buffs I would like

- Thor having faster recovery on his hypers, increase the range on his command grab, and make so that Mighty Thunder can push back the other player on block not just on one hit(like Magneto's Shockwave) the way it is right now they can just block the first lightning bolt and the rest of the attack goes right past them, that + its horrific recovery = Thor gone or close to it.

- Faster recovery for Shuma Gorath. Which means no posing after doing a hyper. That just leaves him wide open for attacks if the hyper gets blocked.

- Hyper Stars and Stripes suspends opponent longer if hits or bounces.

- Give Phoenix a bit more health.

- Have Ultimate Web Throw also work on grounded opponents. Except they can block it unlike if they're in the air.

- Being able to do Killer Illumination in the air.

And I might get slammed for this one, but I wish they would put in something so we can break out of combos. It's kinda unfair that if we get hit and your opponent begins a long combo, there's nothing we can do about it. The only way to escape is if they mess up. Some of these combos are pretty long and will have your character gone(or close to it) in just seconds. That's not good if the character you're using has a glass jaw.

They could have it similar to like breaking out of a TAC, except that it costs one hyper bar. It wouldn't have to damage your opponent. Just prevents you from taking more damage.

Nerfs I would like

- Toning down certain characters X-factors.(Ryu, Sentinel, Hulk)

- Toning down Chun Li's rapid kick. No regular move should be capable of doing over 40 hits when repeatly used.

- Toning Doom's Hidden Missiles. Have him shoot one less and if he gets hit while using them, they disappear.

- Toning down Akuma's Hurricane Kick. Even without the infinite, the pressure and stun it creates is too big. The damage output by spamming it is outrageous. It's nigh invincible to almost everything you throw at it.

- Sentinel's beam taking no chip damage. It's not a special attack, so don't treat it like one.

- Longer recovery on Chris' Magnum Shot. He shouldn't be able to spam them like that. His strength should be his prone shot.

- Longer recovery for things like Hurricane Kicks, Shinku Hadokens, Berzerker Barrages etc etc. I've seen fights with Hurricane Kicks endlessly being used.

Ryu doesn't have much, even in X-Factor. He's as close to being the Dan of this game as Capcom can make him without acknowledging it. As well, you want more recovery on Shinku Hadoken, but the Advancing Block trick makes it punishable with just about anything that goes full screen fast enough.

Giving characters combo breakers also kills Touch of Death teams, a staple of Marvel games. Seems like a good idea in the short term until people start figuring out what characters win games for free and the low health ones like X-23 stop getting used. That's why most of the glass cannons have 100% combos; otherwise, what's the incentive. Ever wonder why TvC never took off?

Which sucks becuase TvC was awesome

A Marvel vs Tatsunoko game would be :awesome::awesome::awesome:

Okay then how about a way to quickly bounce up instead of being stuck on the ground to receive even more damage or just to be bounced into the same endless loop like people do with Wolverine?

I'm not the best player in the world and I can handle losing, but it's still a bit irritating watching my character lose nearly all their health because I slipped up and took one hit which turned into about 50 or 60.

Hurricane kick is probably the most outrageous spam move I've ever been on the receiving end of.

That's understandable, but big damage and high combos are going to be a part of fighters until there aren't any more. SF4 had easy Ultra combos that could nearly KO. Before that, Marvel 2 had infinites with already good characters. SF3 had Yun's Genei Jin, that has so many custom combo possibilities a few are still being found 12 years after release.

They should tone down the damage of the game, though. It gets ridiculous when everyone can do a meter-less 100% damage combo.

I see. Fair enough.

To bring up another subject, does anyone else enjoy timing out a Phoenix user? It's so fun doing this to people who think they'll get an easy win with lvl3XF DP. I was once doing this to this guy and when time was about to run out he disconnected. I was shocked I didn't get any hatemail afterwards.

How do we get Event Mode?
It is not in the last patch I downloaded and I can't find it on the Add-Ons, on PSN.

It is in the last patch that was released. When you start up the game, it searches for downloadable content and you should get a message that Event Mode is available. Its under Online Mode

Aw, I downloaded it and, when it looks for DLC, it says it failed at something, I don't remember exactly what.
It is not downloading it again, so I don't think any errors ocurred. What do I do?:csad:

the only thing I would say is delete and reinstall the patch
