Daredevil Marvels Daredevil Season 2 Thread(Spoilers for Season 1.)

I hope the same cinematographer and composer will be part of S2. The way S1 was shot was just amazing.

All i know is .i cant wait for season 2. Good call on netflix to capitalize on its popularity. Although i wouldnt want season 2 at the expense or alteration of previous laid plans.

The Dark Knight trilogy was pretty grounded, but the best in the series featured The Joker as the main antagonist. The Owl isn't really that huge of a leap.

Joker is more iconic then Owl is though and Joker's suit is more iconic. Plus Nolan Joker did not have super powers like Owl does in the comics.

Really Owl may be a persistence throne in DD's side, but he really is not an important and iconic villain, really they could change him a far amount from the comics and it wouldn't matter much.

The only thing I think they could do with Owlsley Jr. is make him more even reckless and blood thirsty then Fisk, so that he makes things worse now that Fisk is gone.

I hope they get a budget increase for season 2.

While the show definitely made the most of what they had, you could tell some elements looked a bit shoddy at times. Although again they made that work for them.

I've just come to expect premiere production values from netflix originals now.

Their budget dwarfs that of Agents of SHIELD and is very high for television production. I really think it's quite adequate and didn't have any major complaints.

Do you have any specific complaints?

I think they did a great job with what they have (which I think is a $40 million budget).

Has any info on the shows budget actually come out? I've seen numbers for most of the other Netflix shows but not for this one.

I guess larger set-pieces perhaps.

*Spoilers*

I think the final battle between Daredevil and Kingpin could have been more epic. I would have liked to have seen something more akin to the Bane vs Batman battle. It might have been a creative choice vs budget though.

Actually yes, I did find something on the budget. Mainly that Disney was spending $200 million altogether on the 5 Defenders properties.

So we can assume about $40 million for Daredevil season 1. House of Cards first 2 seasons were budgeted at 100 million altogether. Marco Polo had a whopping $90 million for its first season.

So Daredevil had a somewhat lower budget for this season than House of Cards and well below Marco Polo.

Regardless for next season I could see them giving a budget more akin to HoC's at least.

Also apparently Agents of Shield at least for its pilot had a bigger per episode budget:

Assuming the budget is spread between the five series equally (although it would make sense to spend a little more on The Defenders miniseries), each episode will feature a budget of roughly $3.3 million. That doesn’t come close to touching Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s ridiculous budget of $14 million for the pilot alone, but it is in keeping up with several other, high-quality shows.

Just because Agents of SHIELD had a $14 million pilot doesn't mean they had $14 million an episode.

Keep in mind part of that budget can be attributed to Whedon directing, location shooting and also Whedon co-writing the script.

Also FYI, Defenders will have less episodes than the other shows. Only 8 while the others get 13.

more supervillains.
Less Fisk more KINGPIN
Less Vanessa

Bad example
Bane vs Batman was a terrible battle, so poorly choreographed, both of them

Aside from the obvious key players (Bullseye, Elektra, The Owl (Owlsley's son), more Hand etc.), I think it would be a huge missed opportunity to not introduce the Punisher. I'd bring him in for one episode.

Given the character arc Matt had in Season 1 regarding his struggle to not kill, it would be interesting for him to meet someone who actually crossed that line. What's it like to encounter someone who throws a criminal off a roof and isn't lying when he says he enjoys it?

Aside from that, I want more courtroom drama. I felt the latter half of Season 1 was lacking a bit in that department.

I feel like Season 2 should be about the bulk of Frank Miller's run with Bullseye and Elektra. End with Elektra's death.

Save Elektra's resurrection and Born Again for Season 3.

Tom Hardy expressed interest in playing punisher, lets make it happen marvel. And lets get the man a netflix series for after defenders while were at it.

So I actually watched the Daredevil film director's cut for the first time a little whole ago. While it wasn't a great film there were a few things I did enjoy and wouldn't mind seeing incorporated into the show.

One would be the Billy Club daredevil used in the film

I thought it looked really cool on screen with the wire and everything. The one we've seen on the show briefly seemed a little plain.

The other thing would be the radar vision we saw when looking from Matt's perspective. I'd also like to see more perspective of how Matt views the world.

Oh yeah his billy club in the movie was awesome.

I wouldn't mind the billy club, though I don't think it's super necessary either, but I don't think I need any radar vision or anything like what we saw in the Daredevil movie. I thought the way they showed his senses working in the show worked well and didn't need to be pushed/explained more.

The one thing I absolutely must see in this show is another wardrobe change.

I can't watch him go through 13 episodes with that armor-plated BS. I understand the black suit is out (disappointing, but i can live with it) but they need to take two steps back. Red cloth (kingpin's suit material), no plastic, no plating, DD on the chest... C'mon Daredevil, you need to be a ninja!

Anyway, other than that, I'd like to see Elektra and the Hand take center stage. Could be a lot of fun. Kingpin hiring Bullseye from prison might be a cool arc too. Also seeing Frank Castle, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage or Iron Fist cameo would just be swell.

Other than that, keep up the good work Marvel/Disney/Netflix... shut up and take my binge-watching money!

I agree about the costume. I think it definitely needs to be updated for next season. The good news is that in the show, it was referred to as a rush job, which means in the show it isn't finished, so we can get a better one at the beginning of next season.

Not sure how "I got stabbed and brutally beaten all last season, so I'm going to remove all of the actual protection that I got with the new suit" counts as an "upgrade." More like "I'm a reckless idiot who never learns, no matter how many times I get my ass kicked."

Why can't he wear a red cloth costume over the ugly padded one?

Did you watch the show? They spent like 12 episodes explaining this dude badly needs some protection over just his compression shirt. He was actually armoring up all season in the black suit.

He started with just some white wraps around the wrists and eventually upgraded to shin and arm guards.

The red suit was a natural evolution of that. I just have a hard time believing people who watched the whole season are having trouble understanding why he'd want to wear something more than cloth?

I like the suit, I just want them to change the cowl.

I think what he's really asking why the black parts can't be covered with a red cloth.

I think he really is asking why he can't wear a cloth suit but anyways none of the new suit is made of cloth yes they could have just colored in the black parts to match the red.

They put in an in story reason for the color difference. The guy who made the suit stated the black sections were stronger, so he not assuming Matt was blind, wanted to give Matt visual references to where he should be more or less careful with.
