Marvel's "Fear" Event - Part 1

This event sucks. I'm sure Fraction will say in an interview next week how Fear Itself is the Infinity Gauntlet of this generation.:o

So looking forward to this being done.
So sad, in so many ways.

Yeah, Cap came off as a jackass in the issue. "Ooh, I've given up even though one guy on our side rocked the asses off two of the other side's most powerful. Let me take all of my angsty frustrations out on everyone else, then pick up these totally f***ing useless guns to fight god-level powerhouses." This is the world's greatest soldier and most inspirational leader?

I wonder if anyone at Marvel knows what it means to be a tactical genius.
Seriously....evil gods invade the earth and Cap is trying to play minuteman????

wow....this is just...stupid....you get a chance to make weapons to enhance 9 superheroes and you choose Spider-man and Wolverine?????? Iron Fist?????

The Mighty, pfft. They're all terrible designs except for the Iron Man/Destroyer hybrid. It's obvious they are going to save Steve from an ass kicking since he's decided to fight the Worthy with a cork-gun.

It's like someone decided to play Dungeons and Dragons with Marvel
...because Tony Stark, a modern weaponsmaker, would make a bunch of axes and archaic weapons
"Hawkeye will get a +7 Bow of Glowing."
...and we all know the one thing Spider-man needs is some sort of stabbing weapon

the weapon choices outside of hawkeye and strange(though aeris gainsbrough will want her staff bacK) make no sense.

I know the word gets thrown around too often these days..
but this event is just a total, epic FAIL

I hope sales have been poor just to get fraction kicked the hell out of the marvel offices. The sooner he goes to DC the better (its bound to happen sometime)

well atleast Dr. Strange brought his spotlight so they can see where they are going......oh...thats a staff/

Wow. This has be the worst Cap has been written since Civil War.

Hawkeye:"Hey wolverine what did you get?"
Wolverine:"I got claws...that can cut through anything."
Hawkeye:"Didnt you have that already?"
Wolverine:"What did you expect from someone who updates their armor over and over again but it keeps the same features...hell he had roller skates on one"

Ugh, goddamnit, Asgard and Earth are gonna be saved by so many terrible characters. :csad:

It's a caduceus, actually. Universal symbol of medicine. It'd be a neat bit of symbolism if it didn't look so bloody ridiculous. :)

Boy, has there been a more underwhelming event? It's not even "bad", it just stirs up a stew of apathy in my guts. Fraction needs to quit tried to Ultimatize Cap too, it hurts to read.

This would have been the perfect opportunity for Fraction to remind people that Logan is a skilled swordsman but w/e. "lolz claws!"

I know that the caduceus and the rod of Asclepius are mixed up by commonfolk, but if anybody should get it right, it's a comic book writer.

Well, official medical organizations get it wrong too. Plenty of them have the caduceus, denoted by its two snakes, as opposed to the Rod of Asclepius, denoted by its one snake.

I wonder what Hermes/Mercury thinks about having his staff stolen...or replicated

or Original Flash stealing his hat.....wow comics gave Hermes a raw deal....maybe if his name didnt sound like Herpes he'd have a movie

A small tidbit from an article about the DC relaunch from one retailer:

"A large amount of defectors giving up on the expensive and weak 'Fear Itself' and 'Spider-Island' tales and switching to DC totally."

Yeah, FEAR ITSELF #6 was ****. Cap was written poorly, Odin isn't much better, and neither is Spidey. It's making me miss SIEGE. I'll be thrilled when it's over.

I guessed right on most of these aside for Black Widow.
