Marvel's The Runaways

This should be a TV show anyway. We should have at least four Marvel TV shows within the next 3 years imo

Agents of SHIELD
Runaways
Daredevil
Cloak & Dagger

Just reread Vol 1. Still a great read. Actually looking forward to this getting green lit a lil more then some of the other unannounced Avenger solo's.

Wasn't Vaughan originally writing the script for the film?

Whatever happened to the Runaways of tomorrow? In 2010, Marvel hired Iron Man 3 screenwriter Drew Pearce to adapt the comic created by Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona, and got as far as casting before the studio abruptly pulled the brakes on the project. Nearly a year later, Pearce revealed the film was put on hold so Marvel could focus on The Avengers, but it remained very much alive.

It’s now September 2013, and Runaways seems all but forgotten. So what gives?

“We were really close to being made, and then this movie started to happen called The Avengers,” Pearce said recently on The Q&A With Jeff Goldsmith. “Oddly, it pulled focus from the unheard-of brand Runaways, and it really did kind of consume the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s there — maybe it’ll be a Phase Three movie. I really hope so. I’m really proud of it and I think it’ll be a brilliant film, but I think it all depends what Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel, his master plan is.”

So, we’ll see Runaways in Phase Three? Maybe, maybe not. As Iron Man 3 director Shane Black puts it, Marvel makes two movies a year, putting Runaways “at least three years down the line.” Even still, Black said that Pearce’s take on Runaways is “one of the better screenplays that’s sitting on a shelf somewhere,” so perhaps Marvel will wake up and smell the Gertie sooner than later.

Still kinda hoping they move this more to a tv show rather than a movie, but I'd love to see it at all.

Hope it is Phase 3. Need to see this made. Curious how they handle all the powers and Old Lace.

Flick would be more budget friendly and a nice switch from the larger then life characters.

Nice

Wonder what it was. Gifted? Inhumans?

Inhumans is what I think but since they are introducing "Registered Gifted" it may have been that

this should be a tv series not movie

the comic is just too episodic

only problem is the powers of some of them for a tv budget

Runaways would make a great tv show.. or movie for that matter regardless.. that being said, i always thought with all the MU nods and references in the comic... that it makes more sense to establish them in a post Avengers film anyway

Unless Marvel comes up with a unique way to connect the Runaways with the MCU, maybe it should become an Animated series or animated movie that is not a part of the MCU.

Ultron is a pretty dang good connection... And Nico could easily have ties with Dr Strange

I kind of leaning towards Runaways being a TV show as well. The style of the comics seems to fit a TV season better than a two hour movie imo.

I suspect the term is going to really just be "Gifted." The 'registered' or 'unregistered' part will simply refer to whether they are known or unknown factors, in terms of identity and origin ( an unknown person with Starktech, and an identified person with powers of unknown origin? Would equally be 'unregistered' ).

All they need to do is Volume 1. Show the kids watching a news report about the Battle of New York or something along the lines that The Avengers exist...

Then at the end of the movie have Captain America cameo like in the book
