Matt Reeves Directing The Batman

Maybe WB simply want a yes man.

Maybe WB simply want a yes man.
I don't know, I really doubt they would do that with all this backlash they've had this past year. Plus Batman of all franchises?

The third guy in contention Fede Alvarez does seem like an interesting choice compared to Scott and Reeves. Two horror movies the Evil Dead 2013, and Don't Breathe on his filmography.

Looking back Nolan was coming of The Following, Memento, and Insomnia before Batman Begins.

SNYDER! SNYDER! SNYDER!

that change.org petition 'bout to get more signatures

Despite how much people don't like the way Snyder treats the characters.

I have no doubt Snyder in his mind believes he's doing them justice, the guy loves these characters and basically signed up to direct 4 DCEU movies.

Id imagine he's one of the few big blockbuster directors who would immediately say yes without hesitation if offered the Bat solo.

Didn't he say that he didn't like Superman? Or that you need to update him so he doesn't suck, or something to that effect? Lol

Just let Snyder complete the job of burning the f**king thing to ground already. Let him scorch the DC earth and take everyone down with him. Batman's had a good enough run of 30 years on film. :csad:

He already did the superman solo

He was allowed to direct the first ever live action Batman superman movie

Due to overconfidence and unfortunate scheduling as well as the concept of failing upwards in Hollywood, he was allowed to go through with directing the first ever live action Justice League movie

Just let him do this. At this point it's his universe since he gets to continue directing the most important films. Clearly he's always been dying for the chance, it's been painfully obvious since watchmen. At least it'll be fun for the people who enjoy his movies as well as the people who enjoy the ride.

I’d love for Zack to get to direct the Batman but I fear he is getting overworked coming off of 3 huge productions and I fear he’ll need to take a break soon, plus I want to see some of the other projects that he proposed like that George Washington movie.

You guys really think Affleck would stick around if Snyder ended up directing this thing?

A Batman solo is right up his alley, especially for the Arkham games crowd.

That makes the job even easier for Affleck.

In all honesty I don't think a Snyder-directed Batman film would be all too bad. But between him and Ayer, their names being brought anywhere near a prestige property as Batman at this time will be PR suicide. Sure WBs track record has been at an all-time low, but this would be rock-bottom.

Said it before and I'll say it again-- Why has no one considered the possibility that Snyder is the one who's secretly on the Disney payroll? :o

This is a good one. You should make this your sig.

It was never confirmed, so it's not a total blow, but it's sad. Rise of the Planet of the Apes was very good, would've loved to see him do Batman. But my hopes for any DC movie right now is very, VERY low. If Wonder Woman isn't good, I'm just about checked out. I'll probably skip out on JL at that point unless I hear good things.

And Flash still doesn't even have a director, right? Eek. At least Aquaman seems to be on track.

This is rocky road for DC. Hope it smooths out.

Wow, Jett is super jaded over this news.

You guys really think Affleck would stick around if Snyder ended up directing this thing?

Does he have a choice?

He's jaded because regardless of what some of you think of him he actually wants this s**t to work.

Its being said that talks have not been broken down as reported, but taking a break before reaching an agreement. The reason for this is not because of Reeves, WB, creative control, or anything; apparently, it's being said the reason for the talks coming to a halt is because of Reeves' agent being a hardball in trying to get more money for Reeves' paycheck.

I doubt WB would give Reeves a paycheck that wouldn't reflect this man's work, or was less than desirable. But if this is true, the agent is trying to take advantage of WB in trying to get more money, which...okay, it could work; but depending on the amount, if the news this is any indication, it might kill Reeves' chance to direct the movie. That is, if WB will do anything to get him, or will go down the list.

In the end, WB will make The Batman, no matter what.

I do have a question though: what kind of Batman movie is this? Given the news reports here and here, I'd assume Affleck/Johns turned in a script that needed an extra punch, which was delivered by Terrio. But in the end, what Batman movie is this? I ask because, WB is very reactionary post-BvS, and want to do whatever it takes to please everybody, and Batman lives in a superhero universe unlike Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy. A superhero Batman? Last time that happened was Batman Forever. Is that what WB wants? Or am I going nuts?

Oh for **** sake. The one good thing I've heard come from the DCEU in years is not happening. :(

Pretty much. The only exciting news I'd heard about the DCEU in a long long time.
