Matthew Vaughn off Thor

Just an idea Spidey, Nobody's been chosen yet, and you might chnge you mind if you had Seen the Asgardian related Hercules Legndary Journeys episodes. They were rather good.

sorry but no.. and i have scene both that Asgardian hercules and xena eps... Raimi produced the show (didnt direct or write every episode) plus he is tooooo satyrical. Thor should be a fun, yet serious epic movie

Who's the director of The Thirteenth Warrior? He could do a good Thor. The Pathfinder director might be another good replacement.

Weren't those movies abominations to cinema if I recall? ^^^

They didn't do well but they delivered what I'd expect from a Thor movie.

Not every film needs to do well at the box office to be good, too. Blade Runner tanked IIRC.

And I am sure that's what Marvel is thinking with this thing...

McTiernan is on the outs with the business right now, so he is a no go. Not to mention he hasn't made a good movie since the third Die Hard.

I know a lot of people dislike him but what about Len Wiseman? The one thing you can say about the Underworld movies is that they look good, even if they are a snoozefest. He did ok with Live Free or Die Hard and with the script being as brilliant as people claim it to be, it could work.

Other guys I think that could work are Antwon Fuqua and even Robert Rodriguez. He was attached to Conan at one point so I think he'd be open to it.

13th Warrior wasn't an Abomination my friend. 13th Warrior is Crichton's book "Eaters of the dead" and Eaters of the dead is Beowulf written to be more interesting to todays world. Crichton even used ACTUAL Arab Diary's of thier accounts of the vikings in both the book and movie.
Don't believe me? Go watch 13th Warrior and any of the recent Beowulf films, you can see the Beowulf storyline IN 13th Warrior.

It isn't a bad movie really...

One of my Favorites because of the historical connections Doc. I watch it at least once a month, just wish Disney would at least do a special edittion with the cut scenes. I saw the making of 13th Warrior on some Cable Channel too some years ago, VERY interesting and SHOULD be put on DVD.

I remember thinking it was mildly entertaining...not the abortion everyone claimed it to be. The boat was actually at the the Norway pavalion at Epcot. I've stood in it.

Hells no. Every movie I've seen from him has sucked.

Training Day did not suck and "King Arthur" while far from great had a nice look to it. To man has vision he just needs to right script.

Actually now I think about it, Vadim Jean (Hogfather, Colour of Magic) might also be an interesting choice if he was really let loose

While I believe Fuqua is talented, Shooter and King Arthur did absolutely nothing for me. Yes, Training Day is a superb film, but take out Denzel Washington and really, where is that film? And I'm not trying to start an arguement.

Saying that, I would have loved to have seen his rendition of American Gangster, titled Tru Blu.

P.S. - I didn't mean for any of this to come off as rude.

Someone did mention Peter Jackson. Would Marvel go all out for the son of Odin?

Would be nice

I don't know what to think about the Vaughn rumor. I mean, how can we cast Pitt as Thor (as rumored might be done) or Matt McConaughey as Cap (also rumored) without having directors for either? Seems dumb to me to cast before you have a director.

Mathew McConaughey as Cap? I really hope that's just a rumor.
Nick Fury: "Cap, we really need your help on this mission."
Captain America: "Well, alright, alright, alright."

And Matthew Vaughn as Thor? I dunno guys, he seems so pastey and unshaven and not very god-like to me.

I know. Bad choice. Hey, why don't we get Kate Hudson and make Captain America a romantic comdey! You know, something McConaughey knows all about :whatever:

because they're always so enjoyable and entertaining....blech!
