Vaughn on Thor Casting!

Actually it's better if the strike generally isn't over:
1. Directors/Actors would get interested in joining ship, since there are less alternatives.
2. There are less films to compete with
3. Marketing-wise will have more impact

My thoughts exactly. I don't mean to be greedy but I hope the strike lasts through summer. What competition could Thor muster if there are no blockbuster scripts available to shoot? I can do without new TV until fall and most writers have enough nest-egg built that they'll survive until the better contract. I hope the writers and the actors union settles at the same time in late summer.

WHAT THE HECK? I thought Blake wasn't going to be in THIS film.

The Thor script is epic. I couldn't imagine any actor not wanting to be part of this film from what I've read of it, and with the strike this could push some pretty cool actors our way. :D
MAN I can't wait for the anouncements of who they've chosen!

WHAT THE HECK? I thought Blake wasn't going to be in THIS film.

I'm confused too! I've read the script (first draft, dated 04.04.2007), and it doesn't even take place in modern times. It's set in Asgard... Has the script changed?

Yeah from what I've seen of the script, it takes place in the age of the vikings, unless what we've seen is Blake remembering who he really is, almost like a Highlander type treatment.
I've always thought if they did included Blake in the movie from the begining, the Highlander type flash-back would have been a way to go, but I would rather see Blake appear at the end or at the begining of the 2nd film.

Remember Wolfman, Matt and Mark were told to make cuts, so they were in the middle of editting the 1st script when the strike started, so, yes the Script has changed.

Oh, right. That kind of Highlander take on this movie would be most welcomed. It would be cool.

Well I wonder if Matt and Mark were told to add Blake, unless that Audition artical is wrong.

I think the audition article is just taking the plot line from IMDB which they had for a while now, even after the script started getting reviewed and was clear there is no DB in the story.

Well let's hope that doesn't change, they are still rewritting the script.

I don't want DB, never cared for him. I always preferred Thor with out the typical human hidden identity.

If they go the DB route the movie will be no different than Superman.

It'd still be way different. Clark Kent is just Superman pretending to be human. Still has all of his powers, and the nerdiness is an act.

Donald Blake is a completely human doctor with his own identity and set of skills, even though Thor assumes control of Blake. There's also the 60-second-rule with Mjolnir that comes into play.

But yes, I'd rather have Thor's first flick be more like LOTR in epic scope, and leave Earth out of the picture for a bit. Sequels can have Earth come into play majorly due to Thor having to rescue the planet from some scheme hatched by Loki, Hela, Enchantress, etc.

Well the movie, from what I've seen of the Script DOES take place both on Asgard and Earth, but keep in mind this is about Thor's youth, not the superhero we know today.
Also the movie takes place in the past, so DB is nowhere in the script as far as I know. (yes, I know some sites say DB's in it, but the audtion notice says that too)

I agree, I never cared for the Captain Marvel aspect of the character either. Thor should always be Thor. Ultimate Thor got it right in that sense. He should be a badass Norse god with long heavy metal hair and a giant hammer ALL THE TIME.

Well I haven't followed the Ultimates, but, both 616 an Ulty had to begiven Mjolnir at some point in their youth, neither were born with the hammer in their hand Odiin.

Wizard says it's Jesse Spencer. He plays Chase on House.

THAT IS PERRRFECT CASTING.

Hi!I'm new to this board but I frequently visit it.I'd like to know if someone has Thor script,I'd love to read it
If someone has it please if possible send it to me at [email protected]
Thanks in advance!

Yeah Wizard has done this before, Eemti over on the Immortal Thor had an old dream cast as well, a few years ago. I'll look it up.

EDIT:
this was from Wizard 88, www.immortalthor.net/castingcall.html
lol i suggested Ralplh Mueller awhile back. but i think he's lost a lot of muscle, and a bit old. the casting is pretty bad though, good thing their not in charge

ok..well don't shoot me for this one. But take a look at Brad Pitt in TROY. With that long blonde hair and a little work you could have one bad ass god of thunder. I'm just sayin...

The problem is Vaughn is looking for some who looks in his early to mid 20's.
