Well, no s**** Sherlock: Superman was released in theaters two weeks earlier, so yes, it’s naturally going to have a $16M lead in ticket sales compared to The Fantastic Four.

Correct me, but I don’t see that qualifying as a “crushing.” Am I reading this the wrong way?

Superman and Fantastic Four are doing really well at the moment considering the baggage they were dealing with. Superman is pacing ahead, but it's not as if FF is leagues behind.

What are you talking about? They're comparing both film's gross in the same amount of time. Superman's past the $300M mark in the US now.

ANyway, they're both doing very well at the box office.

Superman will be the bigger draw for the mainstream/casual viewer.

F4, Superman and Jurassic are the big summer blockbusters. I've seen all three and enjoyed them all, I've also seen all the negative social media about all of them and ignored it (but many people won't and will be sucked into the black hole of toxic hating)

None of the screenings I've been to have been full or even that busy. Things like the growth of streaming, the ongoing economic struggles hitting people's finances, and the effects of lockdown/pandemic on people's mental health and personal motivation for going out as much (I know loads of people who hardly leave their homes any more), are all factors. People are less willing to just go to see a movie, especially when ticket prices are high.

Also, lots of people have given up on mainstream TV services (I've done that as well) so you don't get to see adverts and trailers for upcoming movies except on streaming and social media.

I think it’s best to compare the films to their predecessors—not to each other. Both of these films had a string of misses in their history so the goal should be overcoming those past perceptions. I never expected F4 to outcross Superman (unless the latter was another film like the previous DCEU properties). The fact that F4 is doing so well—and is so close—to Superman is remarkable to me.

However, I still question Marvel’s decision to move F4 to this time frame. I didn’t think it was a good idea when they made all of the schedule changes. And I still feel like both films would have made soooo much more $$$ if they had more breathing room. Even an additional week might’ve made a difference.

If memory serves, I believe originally F4 was originally slated for February and it was swapped with the Captain America 4 movie.

There's been a lot of comparison between these two movies. Now that they're both released, which one did you prefer?

But its just the constant piling on this movie and not giving First Steps any credit, is just unpleasant to see.

It’s all about the second weekend of Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps which ends the week with $158.3M after an estimated $7.4M Thursday, -14% from Wednesday. Second frame outlook is $45M-$47M for the net $200M budgeted movie, which is around -61% decline. The Matt Shakman directed movie keeps all the premium screens.

There's definitely fans who are rooting for the failure of F4 : First Steps , probably because they were had expected/ hoped, it would get a 30 % on RT , and be soundly rejected by the public and critics, and that the film would stumble like all the other versions.

But it didn't, and it hasn't despite, insistence by some segments of fandom ,and some online geek pundits.

The reality is , both films have been well received by audiences , both are overcoming the baggage of prior iterations, and both are well liked by critics.

That may be a reality alot of fans refuse to accept , but that is the reality.

Thankfully , as a fan of both Superman And The Fantastic Four, I'm happy that both of these hard knocks film franchises, seem to be turning the corner .

30% RT would have required it to be the worst Mcu movie ever!

Even with Brave New World/Eternals/Quantumania, those aren't even close to that number.

I still have this odd feeling F4FS gonna have a major drop off at the box office. This won't make DS MoM numbers.

As I predicted, it's not looking great and by no means am I rooting for its failure.

It's alot to ask people to see three films in one month. It should have taken Blade's old spot in November. Imo, a better release date would have been the 1st weekend of May.
