Marvel Films MCU Phase IV!

Thanks for pointing that out "lol". I guess you won't have a problem with all characters wearing the same outfit. Lol that.

By your point X-23 isn't a Wolverine clone because their face, body built and hair aren't the same. They just have claws...

Since I assume F4 will have a film in phase four, I just want to say if Disney did not purchase Fox, and if Fox did not work on a new F4 film by then, this year 2022 the rights would have reverted, and Even if Fox was broken off from Disney, the film rights to F4 would remain through Marvel Studios, correct?

Fox would have started production on a movie by August this year (which is I think would be the deadline for expiration) come hell or high water. They regretted losing Daredevil and put out a turd in 2015 just to keep the rights. They also already had plans for a Fantastic Four kids movie and a Dr. Doom movie.

Would they? It’s hard to imagine they’d be able to justify the production of another F4 film after Fan4stic crashed and burned as hard as it did. I definitely think they would’ve tried to get some FF- related movie by then. I could easily see them going ahead with that Doom movie simply because it would be cheaper to do than doing a straight F4 film.

Thankfully we'll never know, but I feel very comfortable in saying that they would have, yes. Maybe not necessarily a new F4, but something F4 related where they would keep the rights like you said.

It is very unlikely going to happen but lets say before August 2022 of this year Fox was broken off from Disney, and If Fox had the F4/X-Men rights with them, would they have time to pull off something quickly to keep the F4 rights like for example a Dr.Doom movie and they just get a cast and crew quickly to make a movie before the August 2022 deadline?

1st that's an unrealistic scenario. It's not only very unlikely to happen, it's borderline impossible to happen.

Even if the current administration tried to break it up Disney would sue and would undoubtedly win. People underestimate how big streaming is and how far ahead Netflix is. Analysts have argued that Disney needs another large acquisition or two to properly compete, especially since Netflix has started acquiring as well. Such litigation could take months, maybe even years.

2nd. The X-Men, Deadpool, and F4 licenses have already been made null and void. It has been returned to Marvel Entertainment and therefore it's under Marvel studios. The likely scenario is that the two subsidiaries simply agreed to terminate the licenses. That's why it's not under 20th Century anymore.

3rd. Disney has already fully integrated Fox under its umbrella. That includes operation, accounting, management, etc. A break up would take months, if not years, to do and would be required.

4th. Let's say 1-3 are not true and the current administration can break up the company today and it takes effect tomorrow. It's highly unlikely Fox would have enough time to integrate again and start production by the end of the year. They don't have a script or screenplay in hand. They don't have anything in hand.

You have absolutely nothing to worry about. X-Men, F4, and Deadpool are home for good.

I wonder if Marvel will swap Ant-man and the Wasp Quantomania and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever's release dates.

Quantomania is already wrapped filming and in post-production but won't be coming out until summer 2023. Wakanda Forever still has filming to complete and is supposed to come out Fall of 2022.

There could be a issue with characters, plot points and narratives which means Marvel can't switch movies so easily now since some films are less standalone. It's even more complicated with the Disney plus shows also tied to the MCU.

I don't see that happening. I do not see Disney putting their "big guns" in the summer spot, because it is going to fall right on the new Chinese blackout period. And as we've seen with Black Widow, hitting then really hurts your chances of release later. So, expect the movies that are in the July spot to be the movies they don't expect to get approved for China (looking at you Thor), or the ones that will probably not do that great in China.

Daredevil in the MCU. Do you prefer movies or TV shows?

TV shows. Movies can be good as well, but DD isn’t a character that needs a 100+ million dollar budget or anything like that. He’s not Batman or Bond, where the spectacle of those stories can easily be heightened to blockbuster levels due to the various gadgets/machines at those character’s disposal. Matt in comparison, doesn’t have access to that type of tech so therefore lacks the additional qualities that can elevate those aforementioned characters to spectacle worthy events as he mostly just relies on his enhanced hearing and fighting skills.

Also DD just works best in the serialized television format where you have much more room to breathe as far as servicing story and character go. Normally a two hour movie will never give you the ideal time to really dive deeper in the characters and flesh them out as much as say a nine episode season of tv could. That being said, despite me not being for the character to get his own solo movie, I would be all for him playing a supporting role in the next Spider-Man movies. I mean it would be cool to see a Daredevil/Spidey team-up movie fighting the Kingpin.

Agreed. I still say that the Fox 2003 DD film got a lot of things right, and the visual aspect is one of them. They managed to make a street-level hero as visually interesting (for the time) as some of the more dynamic heroes. I especially like how his radar sense was depicted...

I didn't feel the Netflix series was as effective, obviously because of budget constraints...

So, with Reacher taking off, I'm gonna go ahead and start a new hype train -

Alan Ritchson as Richard Rider/Nova

Gregory Diaz IV as Sam Alexander

Liev Schreiber as Titus

Make it like ET, if ET were a traumatized man-mountain space hunk trying to track down the key to saving the Nova Corps. Mix in real-life immigration stories paralleled by the inevitable anti-alien crackdown post-Secret Invasion and you've got a balling movie on your hands.

I was blown away by that “Bring me to life” scene with Electra (and her tragic death). I heard that song in the cinema for the first time.

I just hope its closer to the Rick Rider version than the Sam Alexander version.

They'll probably go the buddy cop route, like the rumored GL reboot, with veteran Rick Ryder mentoring newbie Sam Alexander.
