MCU vs thread....controversy and chaos

Yeah, I'm sure it will do great.....just like Black Widow.

Having said that it might be a good movie- which is pretty ****ing rare at the moment.
It's crazy because I made my predictions in the Eternals thread and got blasted by a user because I wasn't being optimistic about it. Talk about blind loyalty! But time will tell. Back to this thread though:

Juggernaut wins. Next up:

I'm going with Daredevil. While Taskmaster has a suit that gives her some protection and super skills, she wasn't able to KO Natasha - and Matt is one tough son of a ***** ( add the armour and the baton) and I think he's got what it takes.

An interesting match up would be Elektra vs Taskmistress.

Daredevil because I have his very first comic with that stupid yellow suit.

Daredevil

Can match Taskmaster's speed and is durable as they come.

Daredevil vs Taskmaster:

Taskmaster. This one is fairly easy transitive property- Taskmaster was better, marginally, than Black Widow, thus they are better than Daredevil, since Black Widow is herself better than Daredevil. Taskmaster is basically facing an opponent with inferior skill and inferior gear, and who doesn't have any of the situational advantages that Natasha used to take some rounds against them.

The winner is Daredevil. Next up:

vs Black Widow, the most overrated character powerwise ever!!

Well if its just hand to hand Karli killed a man twice Nat's size with a single punch.

If Nat has guns, Karli dies just fine from bullets so Nat easily.

On balance Nat is usually packing, so I'll say Nat.

I'd watch this fight just to see Karli get a more satisfying death at the hands of a "hero"

Karli vs Black Widow:

Black Widow. Look, Karli is tough, but she pretty much relies on supersoldier stats to make up for lack of skill and training. Natasha is basically the peak when it comes to skill and training, and she has a wide variety of advanced gear. The only way Karli can win is if Natasha somehow decided to get into a boxing match with her, and Natasha is never going to do that. She's going to shoot Karli with something, and whether its lethal or not, its going to give her the victory.

Also, Black Widow is no more "overrated" than Batman, and for exactly the same reasons. I always am forced to wonder whether he would get nearly as much pushback on "But, but... normal human!" grounds. . .

I weel pick zee one who pops her head up when she lands.

Don't get me started on Batman!! I saw a video on youtube where a fan INSISTED Batman could beat Thanos WITH the gauntlet. His reason? Because he's Batman and he will find his weakness. I'm like WTF does that even mean?! Batman only wins because of bad writing! But I've already said to much.

Batman is a tough one. Skillful writers, like 1980s Frank Miller, knew that for Batman to beat characters like Superman they would need to provide a plausible scenario - when it first happens, in DKR, Batman does a huge amount of prep and planning, gets seriously injured and also has to literally die to pull off a win.

After that, less skilled writers just give Batman ridiculous amounts of plot armour ( e.g. that Superman literally stops using his brain whenever he fights Batman, and Batman always has kryptonite on him).

In the old JLA cartoon, which I loved, Batman had insane amounts of plot armour - he literally dodged Darkseid's omega beams, which even Superman can't do.

Similarly the Joker has incredible plot armour - that bullets can rarely hit him, and he can survive untreated, life threatening injuries.....because he's the Joker.

To me, it goes back to the writing. When its clever, we can understand why and how Batman can fight more powerful opponents and win - when it's not we all just groan.

I never understood why the Joker isn't killed by now or who would work for him. He always randomly kills his henchmen so who would trust the guy and work for him?! But I read the comic where Batman dodges Darkseid's omega beam and thought that was the biggest pile of BS I have EVER seen. He's street level vigilante but some how he is a universal threat when he got the Joker toxin in him.

Was Carnage in Venom? I never saw it.

I'll say he loses anyway.

I mean, obviously we don't know the details yet, but assuming Carnage is in the same ballpark as the other symbiotes? Guardians should take it. Drax tanks, Gamora shanks, and Peter stands off, says some piffy remarks, and also sees how well Carnage stands up to "put Korath on the floor" level blasts.

From the trailers Carnage looks super OP, bullets go through him.

Without a sonic or vibration weapon of some kind I don't see the Guardians being able to hurt him significantly, whereas he could probably kill all three of them.

I hate the Carnage character, but unless he's extra vulnerable to Quill's blasters, he's going to win this one.

Not to mention, in the same fight he manages to kick away Darkseid, which should have been like hitting a brick wall.

Yeah I think this is what we are going to get from Carnage. Not just another symbiote, the meanest and baddest of them all!

So if there is a trilogy, who do they go with? A watered down Knull?

Yeah I think he could be cool. I don’t think a 3rd outright symbiote villain would be a good idea.

I continue to believe the best hypothetical "villain" for a Venom movie would be the Jury, with the punchline being "No, these powered armor vigilantes come to hunt you down aren't the villain. You are." However, they will have spent two movies doing their best to make Venom not a complete monster, so that doesn't work.

Physically RG should easily overpower DD.

However , he displayed a very low level of skill, struggling against Taskmistress, who should be nowhere near his level of strength/durability.

Remember how Karli, a relatively untrained fighter, killed Lemar with a single punch ? That's what should happen.

But.....given that RG was a complete buffoon, DD could probably find a way to take him down.

So, DD.

Off topic but looks like the Suicide Squad didn't do well as many predicted. That doesn't bode well for Eternals and Shang Chi. Marvel really needs to go to better named, yet more exotic heroes because I can see this phase getting off to a very slow start. I don't get why Silver Surfer or F4 isn't being fast tracked, especially with no more Iron Man.
