There will always be, of course, resistance to progress. Thankfully, after Homecoming and the success of movies like Black Panther bringing the importance of representation, I'm sure there will be a lot of diversity represented on the MCU X-Men.

That depends entirely on who gets changed. Changing someone like Wolverine would aspire tons of backlash and rightfully so. Changing someone like Hank McCoy? Less so. I'm willing to bet Marvel doesn't change any key players

Homecoming and Black Panther do give me hope

Thanks lip. This makes me glow like the best xmen stories do.

You should get a gig writing the movie!

If they go with a younger Xavier and Magneto then my picks would be Jason Isaacs as Xavier and Liam Neeson as Magneto

Lobdell wrote that she was from Cartusia in her solo mini series from 2001. Again, there has never been anything to suggest that she isn't Afro-Bahamian.

I was somehow unaware of this. Fair enough, I suppose, but I maintain that her earlier appearances gives no indication of this, and Clarice Ferguson still doesn't sound like a Bahamian name. This also begs the question; why does Fox think she's Asian?

If I remember the Cartusia origin was from the AoA version, no birth place is known for the 616 version, and with the mess the world is in during AoA its not mentioned if her parents were from the Bahama's or moved there from elsewhere to escape Apacolypse. In the mini series Apocalypse vs Dracula (he also made an appearance in Excalibur) there was a character called Frederick Slade who had similar colouration and powers, and it was strongly hinted that he was an ancestor of Blink. She has the surname Ferguson which has Gaelic origins meaning that she would seem to have some Scottish or Irish roots.

She has nearly always been drawn with Caucasian or elfin features although the most recent series does seem to show her with more Afro Caribbean features. So if anything she is of mixed ethnicity.

As for Fox they seem to have cast Asians in the role as they looked closer to the elfin appearance she is normally shown with. Also both Fox versions have been renamed as Clarice Fong rather than Ferguson.

No one is going to care except for the same tired Internet trolls. The General Audience does not care and never has cared about these sorts of things. Thankfully, studios are slowly starting to catch on and one of these days your crowd of posters will realize just how pointless this argument is. And that will be a very good day for the fandom and for the entertainment industry as a whole.

When it comes to someone like Wolverine? Yeah, I think the GA would care if he changed race in the same way they'd care if Peter Parker, Superman or Batman changed race. After all, it wasn't just hardcore fanboys ripping into the MJ rumors when they came out back in late 2016. (The backlash was so bad that Stan Lee himself tried to calm fans down) and she's not even a main character. Now imagine how huge the backlash would be against a character has been ingrained into pop culture like Wolverine who has been race-swapped. Everybody on the internet would rip Marvel a new one. You're trying to downplay the impact of these sort of things when history speaks for itself. The word "general audience" has become very muddled. Everybody has access to the internet now and the chances are, they will find out about a race swapped X-Men as soon as the news drops.

There is nothing pointless about my argument. If that were the case - we wouldn't be having this discussion in the first place.

Agreed

What is it with Kit Harington being brought up as Logan? I don't see it at all, and it's apparently a quite popular choice.

I think he's off the mark for Logan honestly. He's okay as an actor. But ehhhh for wolverine I do t think so. But honestly most of tg11's castings are little vanilla and boring imo. No offense but they just dont quite excite me. Mostly because they're the same recycled fan boy choices who get brought up for like every role.

A couple things about race-swapping:

1. It's interesting that it's only Caucasian characters being changed into African American characters, not any other ethnicity. What, are Asian people really that well represented, so they don't need you riding to their rescue?

2. Movie studios want to make as much money as possible, and that means appealing to audience in China. China is substantially more racist than America; look at how poorly Black Panther did there, if you don't believe me.

With regards to casting Wolverine, here's an idea that may seem crazy, but consider this:
Daniel Radcliff. He's young enough that he should look about the same for 10-15 years, he has name recognition, and he looks pretty darn scruffy in Beast of Burden.

Do tell us about how poorly Black Panther did there.

It wasn't about that user's post in particular. I just don't get what is the thing with Harington playing Logan in general and that seems like a popular choice. I mean, Tom Hardy is a very popular choice too and I totally get that. Kit Harington? No.

That user said we should count "furry blue people" as a minoirity being represented on screen. Yeah, I'm not lying. So don't even bother.

Because Kit Harrington Is a great actor, he looks like many different artistic interpretations of Logan in the comics, he's short and has the perfect base build for Wolverine's physique, perfect base voice which is more raspy than Jakcman. He's ripe for a major movie franchise. He's a great choice for the part.

I'd rather have Kit than someone like Johnny Galecki who gets brought up. But I think Dustin Clare might be my favorite of the suggestions I've seen.

Compared to how it did here? Not so great.

But you know what? I've wasted enough time arguing with people about this; I'll leave it to Larry Wilmore:

I gotta agree there. Johnny galecki is a horrendous choice. Although I had forgotten about Dustin Clare. He's a good fit physically, hopefully he could do a Canadian accent. But he would probably be 40 by time xmen gets up and rolling. But maybe at 40 you could get 15 years out of him if they want it to go that far.
Still have Alden Ehnreich and Christopher Abbott on my list because they're younger by a few years.

But I trust marvel on whoever they pick in all honesty, they're lead actors have been spot on and I've yet to be let down.

Kit is great in GoT but I can't quite see him as Wolverine.

If kit had to be any of the X-Men I'd say nightcrawler, and even then idk if he'd be my first pick for that.

I'd rather keep Harrington away from the X-Men. I don't see him playing anybody there. On another note, I loved the choice of Maisie Williams as Rahne. Too bad it won't last long.

And I think it's a matter of time until Emilia Clarke make her superhero debut. In the MCU or not.

Yeah that's a shame Maisie didn't get this role in the MCU instead.
