MCU X-Men - Part 1

I don't like the idea of race-bending any of the top Four characters (Storm, Jean, Cyclops, Wolverine) everyone else is fair game, like, every blue person (Beast, Nightcrawler and Mystique) could all be black or latino with nothing changed about who they are as characters. Rogue also could be latina.

Even the Professor could be swapped. I could see Antonio Banderez as a more suave Professor X say his parents were Venezuelan oil tycoons or something and it could work.

I could see it:

Charles being asian would be a much easier pill for me to swallow considering the way he looks in the comics at times:

He looks Eurasian most of the time.

What my lineup would look like in terms of racial diversity:

- Cyclops (white)
- Jean Grey (white)
- Storm (black)
- Iceman (east asian)
- Beast (south-asian/Indian)
- Sunspot (afro-latino)

Becky G as Rouge is something I could see working really well

Why on earth would that be the lineup though?

I was only being half serious about the Antonio B. casting. Not to be "that guy" but Latinos are/can be of Asian ancestry also.

I think it would be far more forward thinking and socially commentatating to have one of the most renowned activists on the planet be Latino vs. standard Asian actor though I see what you mean about his look in the comics.

Isn’t Antonio playing Mastermind in New Mutants?

I keep going back to David Oyelowo as a younger Xavier but that’s too on-the-nose.

I can dig that. Sunspot seems a slightly random inclusion though.

Why would that be the lineup? Well, because it would be a great lineup In my opinion.

Cyclops, Jean and Beast are a must. (I hope to have at least 3 members of the O5 on the team) Storm needs to be established right off the bat as one of the most prominent characters in the franchise. Iceman done right would be a visual spectacle for the audience and he can crossover into the SM movies and become a recurring character in the Spider-Man franchise. Sunspot done accurately to the comics (not the Human Torch ripoff from DOFP) would not only be a visual spectacle but also add something new to the team and compliment the power pool well.

Charles looks Asian most of the time in the comics anyway. So changing him to an actual Asian person would be the best way to have him still look like the character and add more racial diversity to the franchise. And you could make the same argument for Asian actors in many ways, having someone who's Asian play a major role in the franchise that's not some kind of "sensei", ancient mystical person or martial artist would also be revolutionary considering there's no Asian character in the MCU who isn't one of those 3 trophes.

I think Anthony Dale would make a good Charles:

And I know someone will mention Beast being blue makes his race moot so I'll say this- Beast/Hank MycCoy wouldn't/shouldn't be blue in the first film. He'll look like a regular person with the exception of his big hands and feet with long limbs:

First Class didn't do it right, so this would be different from past films and we should spend 1 whole movie with pre-blue Beast before the transformation and by that time, the audience will know who he was before he became Beast and the team will grow to inevitably include more diverse characters (I.e Forge, possibly Rouge and Gambit)

Yeah I actually like the lineup until you get to Sunspot.

I think the original Ultimate lineup would be awesome.

Roberto would be a great addition. Better than Forge imo. Beast already has his powers checked off with the exception of Forge's mystical abilities. Now I guess you could replace Hank with Forge but I'd much rather have Hank over him.

Sunspot done right would be very unique:

When it comes to Storm I'd love to see her introduced in Black Panther first. Considering the fact that an MCU X-men film might not come out until 2023/24 you could establish her as a major character in BP 2 and 3; a rare preestablished mutant who has been living as a goddess deep within Wakanda. As more mutants begin to develop their powers she decides to take an active role in the mutant community and comes into contact with Professor X. In the X-men film, she's running the academy with Xavier.

So we would have Xavier as the old mentor in the background (not forefronted nearly so much as in the original movies), Storm as his deputy, and then a team of teenage/young adult mutants, namely Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Siryn, Thunderbird and Sunfire.

I'd replace Nightcrawler with Beast and Thunderbird with Jean but I could get onboard with that lineup and story

I hope they don't go with Storm being in a relationship with Black Panther, that whole storyline always felt really forced.

Luke hemsworth or Dustin Clare for an older beast?

Also I LOVE the idea of Alfred Enoch as Scott.

Dustin clare for Logan in all honesty. He is really close to hitting a lot of my most have wolverine targets.

Evan Rachel Wood or Allison Williams for Jean if they go 20s age range

Deadpool 2 is a solo hero movie, so the focus was more on Wade obviously. But I did like the amount of diversity it has, despite the others not having a lot of screentime.

Why would you have Sunspot over Forge? Forge is more integral to the team while Sunspot is more of a New Mutants staple.

Both of them are already 30 but on the contrary, I think they would be good choices for Sue Storm. Great choices in fact.

As for Jean, I had a couple of choices in mind. Spencer Locke, Millie Brady, Aubrey Peeples, Willa Holland, Eleanor Tomlinson and Sarah Bolger. All good actresses, all in the 22-27 yo age range. Jean herself should be 18-23

I never really cared about Forge as a character- and while Sunspot was introduced in New Mutants and morr recognizable from that series, he has been a member of the X-Men for a longtime as well and it'll be years before we get to New Mutants in the MCU anyway. Roberto can be a founding member of the X-Men instead.

And I'd be all for a new lineup that included the big 3 (Cyclops, Jean and Storm) like Protar suggested. To start with, I hope they keep the number of members under 8 as to allow the roster to grow and develop into the huge lineup from the later Claremont stories

Sunspot is not even integral to any X-Men stories, that didn't have his New Mutants pals. Like between the two, I'd choose who's important to the team. While Sunspot could easily be introduced in the New Mutants film as he's one of the most essential characters for that splinter team.

He doesn't look like the character at all.

The thing is you're gonna adapt someone, it should look similar to what the character looks like in the comics Xpecially as big as Cyclops. Casting Alfred would easily be seen as screaming for the sake of diversity or the studio caring about the actor's career more, not what the character should really look like in film.

Personally, I don't think I would have a huge problem if any of the major X-Men were race bent. I think Wolverine and Storm are really the only ones where that is absolutely not an option, and the same could probably be said of most of the international members. But the likes of Professor X, Beast, or Iceman are characters where I don't think it would be a huge deal if they aren't white. Cyclops and Jean Grey fall somewhere in the middle where I think it would be better if they weren't changed, but I wouldn't necessarily be upset if they were.

If magnetos race gets bent then his origin has to bend with it. By the way Erik lensherr isnt the only name he's ever had. I'm not really a big fan of middle eastern magneto just because it seems a bit tone deaf but I'm sure there are Arabic names that sound like one of his aliases.

I think that even if he is race bent that they could still keep the Erik Lehnsherr name. Just establish that its only an alias like in the comics, which I don't recall the Fox films ever saying?
