In regards to the body type debate, ignoring characters like Emma or Goldballs who aren't physicaI fighters, I would also just like to point out that being physically fit and having a traditional superhero physique are not irrevocably tied...
Emma Frost turns into diamond and she fights physically in the comics when in diamond form.

While Goldballs is still only a X-student, not eXactly a bonafide X-Men member.

Yeah, that poster once tried to explain that Selena Gomez was "too fat" to play MJ, so...

I think Radcliffe in Woman in Black definitely gave off Wolverine vibes. Now, the "tough guy" side of the character I don't know if he's ever fully dived into yet, but I would have faith in him to pull it off. I would say that "acting tough" is honestly not very hard. If you can act well in general, typically you can act convincingly tough, no matter how mild-mannered you are in real life.
Radcliffe is an amazing actor with REAL dramatic gravitas. I was really impressed by his perfomance in Imperium. With the right diet and exercise routine, he could look even closer to the character than Jackman because of his smaller stature. Acting gruff and tough will not be a problem for him at all, that's not even the hardest aspect of Logan to nail. Scott Eastwood a boring but popular choice for Logan could act tough but he lacks the dramatic acting gravitas to really disappear into the role like Radcliffe could.

I feel the same about LaBeouf. His performances in the last 5 years have been incredible. He went full method for Fury, he would disappear into the Wolverine
I want someone tall for Scott Summers like much taller than James Marsden.

Anybody under 5'10 would not be acceptable to me. I think Marsden had a pretty good height for the role but I would definitely prefer somebody a bit taller, closer in height to Chris Evans.

Efron is great and I’d love to see him in the MCU.

Jamie Bell is Logan, tho.

Of all the names suggested for Logan I think I'm most sold on Taron Egerton. I think he'd kill it.

Wolverine is Zac Efron, Jack O'Connell, or Jamie Bell or I riot.

Zac Efron would make for a better Angel. He has that Worthington look.

I'd rather they went with a short, older, unknown, non-pretty actor for Logan.

Yeah... these casting suggestions have been a bit puzzling. But movie magic can work wonders so my mind is open.

I really wish we could de-age Gary Sinise and let him have some claws. He would be a great Wolverine.

There's plenty of opportunity to cast a pretty boy/leading man/white dude in the X-men: Cyclops, Gambit, Warren, etc. Why *also* cast a pretty boy (only to work movie magic to uglify them) to get Wolverine?

I still like Alden Ehnreich for Logan. Talented. Under 6ft. Got the voice, and the squatty looking face Logan has. He can probably bulk up nicely. And hes still pretty young.

I'm all ears if you got somebody better in mind

I really like the look of Ehnreich for Wolverine. But I haven't seen the acting prowess to back it up yet, keyword haven't seen *yet. If someone could point me into a dramatic/and/or emotional perfomance by him, I'd be glad to consider him.

As of right now, my top Wolverine choices are

- Jack O'Connell
- Daniel Radcliffe
- Shia LaBeouf
- Joe Dempsie

I'm also open to the idea of Taron Egerton. Jamie Bell would be a good choice but he looks like the older twin brother of Tom Holland so it would get awkward if Spidey and Logan ever shared a scene.

Barry Keoghan should be considered for Wolverine. Relative newcomer but still worked on previous critical successes with some pretty reputable filmmakers. At 26, he’s in a good age-range too.

Villain: Proteus / possessed Professor X

Summary:

Dr. Charles Xavier, a publicly renowned geneticist & leading figure in the global conversation on the super-powered community, quietly operates a home for wayward youth in the upper east side of NYC—secret home of the X-Men. We follow the recently-outed Bobby Drake as he’s recruited to enroll.

Mutants are not public, but ever present in the shadows. The Morlocks reside in the NYC tunnels. Charles is aware and regularly invites Callisto to join him with her members, but she continually refuses.

When the mysterious Proteus escapes The Raft, Moira MacTaggart calls Xavier and his team to help recover her son before government forces track him down. And thus, the X-Men are off to Scotland to her research facility on Muir Island. Valerie Cooper and her team at Department X are also en route to track down Proteus.

At Muir Island while the students enjoy a trip to Glasgow, Moira, Dr. McCoy, and Charles use Cerebro (an underwater version a la X-Men Red) to track down Proteus. Their minds connect, and Proteus is searching for mutant hosts to inhabit. During their mind meld, Proteus learns of the Morlocks and sets his sights there in hopes of finding a new and powerful host. Yet again, the surface world brings its problems to the Morlocks.

At a battle at Morlock tunnels, Charles uses his abilities to block bystanders’ view while Forge blocks broadcasting waves. During the battle amongst Proteus, Morlocks, X-Men, and Dept. X, Jean finds Proteus on the astral field and learns that he’s Charles’ son. Callisto, among many Morlocks, is severely injured. Proteus then attacks Charles and takes control of him, at which point Charles is unable to create theillusion of invisibility. He leaves, with the X-Men dealing with the fallout and taken in by Dept. X.

The public sees a massive mutant battle seemingly appear out of nowhere, shocking and horrifying.

The X-Men are joined with Dept. X agents to confront the Proteus-controlled Xavier who has returned to Muir Island to seek revenge against Moira & use Cerebro. He will touch base with the minds of everyone, and control all minds.

To reach him, the X-Men must fight Muir Island itself in a nod to classic Krakoa—with Xaviers’ powers, Proteus’ control has increased tenfold to where he can not only control minds, but life itself.

The X-Men win the day, but Muir Island is destroyed. The film ends with the X-Men’s ranks increased and construction beginning on the Xavier Academy for Gifted Youngsters with Moira & Beast joining to help run the school and labs, and Gambit & Marrow joining as full-time X-Men members.

Post-credit scenes:
  • Graydon Creed, disillusioned with mutants after the film's events, enters a Hammer Industries facility and meets with Justin Hammer directly. They vaguely discuss and upcoming venture with the US government, and Creed drops a file on the table titled “Project Wideawake” with holographic images of Sentinels built w/ arc-reactor technology.
  • A silhouette watches footage of the Morlock Massacre and of the X-Men, analyzing and studying, speaking of a new “age” approaching. We know this man to be Mr. Sinister, thus setting up a new multi-film villain and further allusions to Apocalypse

Summary:

I really like your approach here! I think it cleverly handles a lot of tricky X-men stuff.

What I liked:
- Marwan Kenzari would be such a hunky Xavier
- "Searebro"; a good and rare example of new comics changing up familiar dynamics
- The Morlocks (I also want them involved in the first MCU X-men movie)
- Xavier and Forge working together to keep mutants a secret (control over minds + control over technology is a pretty wicked combo)
- The nod to Krakoa while making it more than just a mutant island. It would be cool to see the MCU do Krakoa, but the comic book version is so removed from the personal drama and social commentary that we love from the X-men
- The way you bring various corners of the X-world together, specifically Muir Island being destroyed and ending the movie with Moira and Beast putting their efforts into the X-mansion.
- Setting up Sinister!

The only thing I don't love is how Xavier centric it would be. Elements of the plot sound a bit like a combination between X2 and Apocalypse. What kind of emotional/character arcs would other X-men get?

It’s just a rough sketch, but I think there’s a lot of opportunity available there for character development. I specifically thought that by having Professor X possessed by Proteus we would not only get cool astral plane sequences but also get him off the table to let the X students shine.

Explore a Gambit/Rogue relationship—and later in the film, during a fight with Proteus, Rogue touches the villain and absorbs an assortment of abilities thus resembling our classic flying/super strength incarnation.

Explore Cyclops’ leadership & his relationship with Xavier as a foster father. In Xavier’s absence, Cyclops truly shines in the field.

Explore Storms’ past as a thief and a runway (she identifies with Marrow and the Morlocks’ disillusion with the surface world, but found light in Xavier’s dream).

Explore Jean’s comic history as the heart of the team. Have her present with Xavier when recruiting Bobby, and pair the two together to explore their emotional arcs through the film. She looks to heal others & play telepathic therapist to avoid her own traumas.

Explore as Bobby Drake finds a new family in the X-Men after feeling as an outsider as both a gay youth and mutant. He’s our POV-type character as his 1st day with the X-Men sees him embark on a globe-trotting adventure

Some really great ideas here, I particularly like your ideas for Forge, Charles, Proteus, Beast and the reimagined version of Cerebro based on Searebro from Red but I can't but feel there is too much packed into this film. A hybrid of several different stories from the comics might be too much to juggle, especially on top of establishing the basics of the series with comes the first outing in a franchise. I'm not saying it can't be done but they would need to tread very carefully not to end up in another TASM2/SM3 or BvS situation

Not sure if I like the idea of Xavier being possessed/compromised again as we've seen it too often.

Rest of that story sounds good though, especially the potential link between the Morlocks isolation from humankind (+ surface mutants) and Storm. Would be a good introductory theme; initally some vulnerable Morlocks being afraid of Storm & the Xmen, with Storm panicking about the claustrophobic dwellings of the Morlocks underworld home but they both find common grounds and being to overcome their apprehensions for each other.

Any new X-men entry to the MCU will probably have to be a little Xavier centric just to establish the new rules, geography, timeline, & relationships in the MCU. By the second film though all bets should be off.

I do like the Sentinel setup with Hammer Industries. Could be a nice call back to IM2, and the evolution of the tech since Vanko plus it uses something we've seen before as a basis and doesn't start from some far out concept.

Though the idea has been touched upon, we haven't actually seen the X-Men face off against Professor X in film. In X2 (over 16 years ago), he's stuck in an illusion. And in Apocalypse, he's never fully-possessed and the X-Men never need to confront him.

Think of the X-Men Evolution finale where Prof X is transformed into a horseman of Apocalypse and the X-Men must face against him. He's strong and not bound to a chair, attacking with all assortments of telepathic and psi-blast assaults.

The X-Men would be facing their biggest challenge that Prof X prepared them for--exposure in the real world, but now they must not only face it without him but also fight to save him from his own son.

Give us some visuals a la Fatal Attractions where Prof X lashes out on Magneto:

I agree--in the proposed entry film, we establish the X Mansion with the following team:

Cyclops, Storm, Jean, Gambit, Rogue, Iceman, Forge, and Marrow
with Professor X, Moira MacTaggert, and Beast rounding out the staff.

Plenty of character there to shift any focus away from the staff to the actual team, and instead explore Professor X as an Illuminati member in other MCU films/post credit scenes, send Beast off to the Avengers, etc.

And not only does it set up a lot of characters, but we already have seeds for Sinister, Sentinels (and perhaps Genosha), X-Factor via the inclusion of Val Cooper & her team w/ Gambit, Storm's turn as Morlock leader, Graydon Creed & his eventual presidential run and/or Friends of Humanity, etc.

Yes, exactly. We need Hammer back in the MCU asap. His inclusion helps solidify the mutants' connection to the overall MCU and could perhaps lend to a larger overall Dark Reign/Siege storyline--perhaps Norman uses the "mutant problem" as a lightning rod instead of/in addition to a Skrull secret invasion as in the comics

And yes, though Tony was pretty protective of his technology, we did see arc-reactor technology at SHIELD in TWS so those blueprints have been shared outside of his company/home, so it stands to reason that Hammer could have eventually got his hands on it. And a central arc on the Sentinels' chest actually lends itself to the comic design
