Marvel Films MCU X-Men - Part 4

Thats good news as I really don't want to see the Wolverine as one of the first few X-Men in the mcu, not even as a solo hero. Give the opportunity to someone else..
Heck, if I was Kevin Feige, one litmus test I'd use to vet potential X-Men directors would be to tell them that in the first film they can't use Wolverine. If their interest dissipates, you'll know they'rer not the right guy.

If they don't do squads from the get go.

The ones I want to see the most are: Rogue, Gambit, Iceman, Angel and Psylocke. Cyclops and Storm I think are default members, those two cannot be absent in the first movie especially when they had to play second fiddle to the Wolverine, the Professor, Magneto and Mystique in the previous movies. I don't mind saving Jean, Beast, Nightcrawler and Colossus for the sequel as they were on Dark PhoeniX and Deadpool 2.

There should also be someone not that well known to the public but not random in the comics, as part of the team. Like Polaris, Sunfire, Jubilee, Bishop, Banshee, Cecilia or Forge.

For the first and second film, I don't want the Wolverine, Magneto, X-23 and Mystique.

All this talk makes me wonder if we might just see the X-Men 97 characters in live action for Secret Wars, but played by the Fox cast. MoM would’ve been a little pressure test in that case.

Man, I haven’t enjoyed this kinda wild speculation in awhile outside of NWH. Starting to feel more and more like when I first joined this forum.

They already started it with Sir Patrick Stewart.

But yeah, I'd like to see the original cast (if they are asked) to wear the 90s coXtumes. While the reboot actors (for Phase 7) could wear something more modern coXtumes from the comiXs/mcu-nized.

I hope no one from First Class/prequel cast are asked back eXcept for Olivia Munn/Ben Hardy only if they are members of the X-Men.

The eXciting part of the foX cast returning is seeing fight them against the MCU actors or work with, which was just something we read on forums as ideas before. But Secret Wars/Kang Dynasty could make it a reality.

The way I see it, it's inevitable that Wolverine will be like the Iron Man of the X-Men. He's an obvious fan favourite, so he'll definitely be in the picture. But I also think because of that, they can give him a solo show/movie, so that in the team films, he doesn't overshadow anything.

I feel like Wolvie is great in some of the comics when he's just the guy who's there who gets the job done, and maybe has a moment of harsh truth to spill to one of the more idealistic team members.

But I had the same worries about Marvel getting Cap right in the lead up to the Avengers film. I didn't want him playing second fiddle to the fan favourite. And looking back now, he well and truly earned his place as leader and Marvel respected the hell out of his journey.

So I'm confident this time around, Marvel will make sure to honour the characters who have never truly shined on screen, like Storm and my personal hope - A redemption for Cyclops.

Scott is one of the most compelling X-Men members, and his journey in the comics has been incredible. But I still feel live we've never seen any of the genuinely interesting aspects of his character explored on screen. His trauma, his complicated father issues, him having to earn his leadership by questioning and ultimately challenging Xavier.

Even just seeing them getting Scott and Charles's relationship arc right would be incredible to see, I think. And that's the kind of stuff they'd have room for if they let characters like Wolverine get more developed in their own solo stuff.

Wolverine will definitely be a heavy hitter on the roster. The only trick here is just to balance him amongst the rest of the team.

Once they find their balance, everyone will have time to shine. That's the one thing Marvel Studios has done better than any other CBM I've seen, they handle their teams and ensemble casts very well.

I mean, sure, if you want to ignore the various deadly blows they have dealt to the characters over the years, sure.

I mean Scott leaving Madelyne Pryor and baby Cable to reunite with Jean was crazier than an episode of Melrose Place.

Gone are the days of toxic soap opera comic book drama like this.

I think every single X-Men character has had some weird, horrible storylines over the years. But I'm obviously talking about the good stuff. I want to see the journey that leads Scott to becoming headmaster, turning away from Xavier and not needing his approval anymore, Scott that becomes a tough as nails warrior for mutant rights etc.

My point is, he's always portrayed as a wet blanket in the movies, or his entire purpose/arc is based solely around Jean. My feeling is, if they can get Scott right, I'll have faith they'll get everything right.

EDIT: OH and especially if we ever see a proper Mr Sinister! Sinister would be a great villain to bring out some extra depth from Scott.

Scott's journey is very important. It'd be nice to see him wrestling with his inner struggles, like having to deal with being the leader Xavier expects him to be versus the leader he wants himself to be. Cyclops is way overdue for some time in the spotlight.

That's also why I'm a major proponent of having Jean not be in the first few X-Men movies. Have it where she and Scott have broken up, she's off the team doing her own thing, he's still with the team trying to lead and forge ahead.

I would love to see Scott being orphaned as the opening act to the mcu x-men.

actually talking about that, so the fantastic four aren’t getting an origin story because feige said we already know that. Makes sense. Lucky the x-men don’t necessarily need one

Origin stories could always be featured in D+. Its the perfect/easiest way to make a solo show for Psylocke, Beast, Cyclops, Jean, Rogue, Bishop, Jubilee etc.

When there's like 20 classic X-Men in a movie franchise with a dozen of heroes getting their own movie, its better to skip the origin story (in the movies) and jump to the eXciting part. We've had 7 X-Men movies after all.

This is why I still love the idea of a First Class TV series over a movie. It's hard to fit all those great and important backstory moments in a single film. But that's such a great example of Scotts early trauma that colours his whole life yet doesn't really get properly touched in the other films. Not to mention the emotional abuse he gets from Xavier.

X-Men Origins Anthology Xeries!!!

First season could be the O5, the Professor, Polaris and Havok. Second season for Storm, Sunfire, Colossus, Thunderbird, Nightcrawler, the Wolverine and Banshee. Third season for Psylocke, Rogue, Kitty, Dazzler, Longshot and Lockheed. Then fourth season for the 90s newbies, Gambit, Jubilee, Bishop, Cecilia, Forge, Maggott and Marrow.

Yep, yep, yep, yep. Everything about this is awesome. Hell, I wouldn't even care if the anthology series just focused on like, D Listers. But any kind of anthology mutant series would be incredible.

for what? for you to complain about the VFX, saying day after day that they look cheap, are boring and should have done a 2 hour movie for each one of them instead? :funny:

The thing about the O5, Cyclops, Jean and Beast are foundational characters anyway, while Iceman is a good kid to have around. I don’t think it would be a stretch to have all 4 of them in an opening film even from creators who had never heard of the O5. The only one that needs a bit more thought on whether to go with from the start is Angel.

Give everyone an offscreen origin (unless they’re getting their own show) so the main films can hit the ground running.

First mutant in the MCU: a muslim paskistani-american teenage girl.

Second mutant in the MCU: a mesoamerican indigenous man.

First X-Men team:... this.

It feels like a big step back. :p

Yeah I've never been a huge fan of the O5, there's a reason the original X-Men comic basically failed and had to be rebooted
I like several of them individually, but as a group they're just boring for whatever reason
Adding a more diverse lineup is a good idea

They should still be the original students, but I don't need much time spent focusing on them as a group

I don't know about you guys, but I want to hear some strong, thick accents. The X-Men should feel like a multicultural team. From the get go.
