You have so many awesome X-related images for each occasion. I need your hard drive. :cwink::up:

Gambit has such a massive star power.

That's the type of thing that makes me think there has to be some sort of contract in the way, to explain why they're sitting on these characters.

Hopefully he can show up before in the MCU.
If they get him right he is going to have a huge fan club.

Thanks:word:.
The first image is from Alex Ross , who's one of my favorites.
He's been around since the 80s I think and has done a ton of Marvel and DC stuff.
He really captures the retro feel of CB characters from the 30s through the 00s

The second artist is another old school guy from the 90s Greg Hildebrandt . He's also done alot of Marvel, DC, sci-fi, and fantasy paintings and art.

It’s interesting thinking about Scott right now isn’t it. Like, imaging being a kid in an orphanage, watching the avengers save New York and thinking “that could be me one day”.

and then you get superpowers and you never know peace again
Summers is a goldmine in character writing. They didn't know what they had with him!

These were the mutants we saw from 2018 to 2019.

I need a more eXciting lineup eXpecially with characters that didn't appear in Dark PhoeniX and Deadpool 2.

Iceman
Shadowcat
Gambit
Psylocke
Angel
Rogue
Bishop
Banshee
Forge
Jubilee
Polaris
Havok

There's plenty of other X-Men to showcase.
Oh?

Angel also has a healing factor I believe, and enhanced agility, hollow bones, and most importantly, a great story that the Fox films have never explored.

I would argue that focusing on his powers is missing the point. They key behind Warren Worthington is that he's the weak but privileged dude whose still out there fighting the good fight, despite not really having to and not being the most suited. He's a rich dude from a rich family, who also has one of the most photogenic and inoffensive powers possible. He could entirely stay insulated from issues of mutant/baseline relations and bigotry if he really wanted to. . . but instead, he puts himself and his "basically a normal human except with wings" life on the line. Because ultimately, he's a hero. He doesn't need to be jazzed up, and the Archangel transformation works narratively because it is a *bad* thing, that neither the character nor the audience should want for him.

Oh no, I absolutely believe that focusing on the character's privilege is the key to making him (and the movie) work. Angel has always been the elephant in the room in that regard, and it's never really been deconstructed.

I think, with, Warren, you're telling a story about self-pity/hate. Somebody who doesn't *want to be what he is, and doesn't think he *deserves to be what he is, because of *who he is, and where comes from.

Warren doesn't want to be at this school, he doesn't want to be an "X-Man", and he doesn't want to be grouped in with these "other" kids. This would naturally be a rich source of conflict with the others, especially with Summers, because from his POV, Warren has it made-- he doesn't have any of the debilitating effects of mutation, he comes a family of wealth and prestige, he knows his parents, and he's white, yet... He complains more than anyone else, because again, Warren has never known struggle, until... Now.

It would be an opportunity to not only seed a very strong arc for Warren (that builds over multiple films), but also explore the theme of privilege, and finally introduce the concept of intersectionality in these films-- Being a mutant doesn't erase one's race, or sexuality, or gender, or class status, and it's time this franchise stopped pretending that it does.

This is all true and I’d love to see it implemented one day.

For now though, Fox had already succeeded on the narrative front a number of times IMO (DofP and Logan). Being a great film alone won't get people back who have now dropped the X-Men or take advantage of the opportunity this MCU reboot presents to go Avengers level big and as a result get tons of future projects greenlit that everyone has been talking about in here.

Imagine a higher quality Avengers 1 that focused on the conflict between Hawkeye and Black Widow rather than a team up to save New York. It might be received better critically but it wouldn’t have done $1.5B back in 2012 and led to the MCU taking off with so many future projects. You needed RDJ as the focus and Hulk smashing lol.

I think everything you write about should be done but once the new franchise is safe and has made its (hopefully) massively successful debut. Fine having Angel in from the first film but I don’t think they should focus on him yet (realise you aren’t saying that at all, just using the post as a jumping off point) when there are other mega-crowd pleasers who are much more likely to get things to really blow up. Angel is a quality character and a very important one to X-Men history, just not the one to focus on from the outset.

I would love to see them show the descent to Archangel too down the line and show all the hardship that entails.

Sunfire would be hot, but in terms b tier X-Men. I'd rather see Jubilee, Bishop, Polaris, Cecilia Reyes, Forge and Marrow first.
I think they should install background character who can enhance the films without taking up field team spots as soon as possible. Cecilia Reyes and Forge would be good candidates for that along with Moira Mactaggert.

Yeah well I think its safe to say most of the people here don't want that.
Well, I speak for myself, and not most people.

Yess, to this. It's one of the things I loved about W&TXM with Forge. Plus Cecilia is due redemption, and we could use a more comic accurate Moira (which would basically be an entirely different character from FC).

Also Sage as the Cyber Security Boss of the team.

Yes, another good one to have in early. These can take the place of human background characters and we can gradually get to know them as they get to know the other characters. All the while they are supporting and enhancing all the films and making them richer.

Rupauls Drag Race's Shea just joined the cast of Ironheart in a secret role.

Could be something else, but Shea is literally one of the queens who inspired the creation of the character Darnell Wade.

The first two mutants are major characters, but if mutants are a thing in the MCU now, it makes sense if some minor characters show up too.

is this for a X-Men movie or for Titans season 6?
X-Men. I think Brenton Thwaites has a leader type of energy and looks solidly like the character, for me. Naomi Scott, I think a solid screen presence for the character. John Boyega, to me, when I fancast him years ago, isn't an obvious choice, but I think he can have a chill energy that I'd prefer for that character. Dev Patel, to me, I think, maybe, has an intelligent sounding voice, which is what I mainly focus on for that character. Ryan Potter, I think, could be considered to have a fun energy, playful, which I think could work for that character, now that I think about it, along with being jewish, like the comic character, from what I read, is.

Yesss please.

What a lot of people didn't realize also, is that Ms. Marvel laid the groundwork for the X-Men's defining conflict in MCU. There was even a proto-M.R.D. in the show

The seeds are very clearly being planted for what will become anti-mutant sentiments in the MCU.

The goings-on at WB this week put into question the rumour started by that X-Men Fan twitter account and picked up by Devin Feracci. Really guys you really think the studio is powerless?

This is one of those things you may want to clarify on which comic accuracy you want. Because, uhhh, Moira's gone through a few changes.

First of all, you understand this is a limited time issue for their taxes, right? Two, why waste the time and money over killing contracts, when quite frankly, you don't need those characters right away. Because newsflash, Disney didn't buy Fox because of the IPs.

It’s very cool if one of the first mutants is an openly queer person. Really good start and would be a great way to show Disney and marvel are prepared to be bold which is essential with a property like the x-men
