I don't know what the true story is about Bassett. I read that she was actually never asked which I think is the bigger issue.
Yes, at 5'9, 5'8, 5'10, 5'8, 5'9 and 5'10. That was my point in bringing up Kit Harington and saying the 5'3 actor pool isn't a very large one (no pun intended). Even the guys who are considered shorter are still bigger than classic comic Wolverine, which is why I don't have a problem with Marvel not getting someone of his exact height.

Listen, I don't know why you're being so combative about this or why you seem bent on trying to read into things that aren't there in my posts, but I'm just gonna add you to the ignore list and call this a night before this thread goes any further off topic. So, bye, I guess?
Most people here who want a shorter Wolverine (read: NOT Keanu, NOT Jackman, NOT Dougray) are not advocating for an exact 5'3" tall actor.

You seem to be the one "read[ing] into things."

IIRC David Hayter said Bassett asked for more money than they were willing to pay. Which I would assume is because there wasn't much to the role on the page. So it all comes down to that in the end.

Still, I would have liked one of the producers of X-Men (2000) to give us the real "tea" on this.

I’m also settled on Hailee Steinfeld being MCU Rogue and Sarah Paulson being MCU Mystique. Paulson wants a role in the MCU and she would absolutely nail Raven.

I dig it. I also liked Paulson for Val Cooper if Marvel ever does X-Factor.

Viola Davis would have been an excellent Storm back then as well.

Let’s be real: Halle got that Oscar for Monster’s Ball because she fulfilled some kinda fantasy for the white men in power. I remember distinctly that Angela said she turned it down because she wasn’t going to be a wh*re on film. And like you stated Frankeh, Halle was the it girl for a moment in time so she went the extra mile with Billy Bob and got the prize.

Having said that, it makes me angry that Halle didn’t stand her ground more during the Fox years about Storm’s screentime. You already have the Oscar and some considerable power, demand that you have more to do.

Makes no sense that Storm’s only line in DoFP was “No. But we can slow them down.”

Let me stop and stay on MCU X-Men because I can write a whole paper on this lol.

Unfortunately, I think by the time of DOFP Halle was just glad to be there, with whatever she could do. Her career wasn't all that after a string of bad movies in late 2000s. She is enjoying a bit of a resurgence now, but she's still not gonna nab the same roles someone like Viola or Taraji can nowadays.

As for MCU Storm, are you guys yay or nay for her big speeches like in TAS?

I want at least a "Whirlwind!" nod to MVC.

She is fierce in John wick Chapter 3.

I think Halle did demand a more substantial role for TLS. It's a shame that what that amounted to was basically more dialogue with no substance

Y'know something? I rewatched Wonder Woman last night and a thought came in my head -- I feel like Diana/WW would be a great template for Storm in the MCU, at least in terms of mannerisms and presentation. I think to myself, how would a Storm who is much more pompous and ostentatious, more akin to TAS, be presented to the GA/filtered through the MCU? And I think the way they handled Diana's arc would be a great reference for Storm. Since they are both outsiders, both started off naive to the evils of the world and they are both very theatrical and with larger-than-life personalities. So the speeches make sense.

Basically, Ororo being Marvel's answer to Wonder Woman if that makes sense?

Yup I have always felt the same, especially after watching the movie. They go through a similar journey with Storm going from being worshipped as a goddess to the horrible reality of 1) not being unique, and 2) being treated like a lesser dangerous person. However I hope Ororo isn't as deer-in-the-headlights as Diana, was never a fan of those parts of the movie.

And as you pointed out, with her being larger than life (something the Fox movies missed), just like WW doing her lasso of truth speech, Storm can command nature to do her bidding.

Precisely. This is why Storm has such potential to be one of the most compelling and beloved characters in the MCU. Fox didn't know what they had with Ororo Munroe: the wind rider. They've been sitting on a goldmine for 20 years.

I agree about Storm being not as oblivious as Diana since she did have exposure to the outside world as a child albeit In the most tragic way possible

 When she walks into a room, there should be a natural divine aura around her, when she talks, people listen. She can be commanding and fierce but also understanding -- People feel comfortable around her because of her sincere pure heartedness and motherly compassion.

Storm can easily be one of the most well-rounded characters in the MCU

So basically she'll be Princess Diana of Wakanda. Which sounds amazing.
Or just Queen of the mutants.

She doesn't need to have a relationship with T'challa to be great. I didn't even pay attention to her relationship with T'challa in the comics. I hope they don't adapt that into film. Also I wanna see obscure characters in Black Panther movies that I'm not really familiar with. I'd go check out Storm in X-Men films and I hope T'challa won't appear in X-Men films in a supporting role.

I just want Storm to have long white hair (cut that damn Mohawk out, it’s played out), have a presence to her where you know she’s not the one to be screwed with be it if she’s a goddess or X-Man, and showcase all of her powers not just shooting lightning.

She should be like a mix of Okoye and Olivia Pope from Scandal, with a dash of Grace Jones.

But I’m sure which ever actress they select will bring her own flair to the role. She has to.

I want long white hair. The mohawk is good every now and then, probably more so for story reasons down the line temporarily once the character has been properly setup.

I can't with the treatment of Cyclops in latest Dark Phoenix clip.

He gets ordered for the mission and is told by Mystique there is no time for his questions.

No choice left but to trust Feige. It's been two decades of Cyclops treated with zero respect.

I was hoping Fox were going to give us an X-Men Origins: Storm movie way back but obviously that didn't happen. She might just be my favourite of the X-Men. I really hope we see some focus on her in the MCU.

She will def be the face of the mcu. I don’t believe carol Denver’s has the style and flash that storm has and she’s very boring. Storm is a great character and marvel promoted her heavily in the 90s

Storm, Jean, Rogue, Psylocke, Emma, Kitty, Polaris, Dazzler and Jubilee should dominate the movies soon! I'd like to see Sage, Cecilia and Marrow as well.

i hope "its handled" by Marvel Studios.

I hope Cyclops and Storm are both huge across the MCU and get referred to in other films.

Kinberg being brought over as a beautiful creative consultant will at least help launch the franchise again within a grounded “street-clothes” realm which right now the MCU needs and has very little of. It will be fresh, subversive and innovative in the realm of the joke riddled MCU

There’s a sharpness to Kinberg’s kinetic skilled approach that really will improve upon the MCU’s emerging tepid writing style. Kinberg means business and so does K-Feige. The team up of them together would be a masterstroke.

Kinberg is here to provide an entertaining bone for his creative thrusts. Let us embrace and enjoy these thrusting forces and ready ourselves for the next phase of the MCU. I find the whole thing so fresh and full of fire. It will be an awesome time to be a fan of the X-men in years to come
