Microsoft E3 2009

Psst, I'm pretty sure that whoever is developing Duke Nukem Forever says it's still around, too. Doubt we'll ever see that, and if we do I doubt anybody will legitimately care.

It´s Duke, so, i´m certain that, if it does get released, people will return at caring.
And yeah, as weird as it might sound, i still believe that 3D Realms is still going to release DKF, one day.......if the world doesn´t end before.
The thing is, will it be any good or the biggest joke in gaming history?

Edited in light of the news that 3D Realms has closed down.

biggest joke in gamign history. Theres no way it can live up to the hype and years of massive delays

Alan Wake will come out before a demo of DNF ever gets made.

And Duke Nukem Forever is ALREADY the biggest joke in gaming. John Romero making us his ***** is a close second.

More on the Full Body controller thingy...

Today, Steve Ballmer gave a speech today, where, during that, his quote saying: "Pay attention to the stuff we're announcing in the next month on Xbox."

That doesn´t say much, but there is something in the air.
And i bet he wasn´t talking about new ips or studio acquisitions.

Between all the 3rd party games, I don't know if I can handle anymore. :o

That something in the air is just corporate hype.

The same thing that every company does: hype s*** up so you give them your money

W....W....Wh...WHATT?????? :shock

No ***** Sherlock! :oldrazz:
But, once again, to hype what?
The point is, the full body thingy look more of a certainty as time goes by

To hype s---.

It doesn't matter if it's new, what it does, how much it costs, the size, the weight, or what color.

What do we know so far (nothing official, but..)

- Full Body Motion Control
- New Rare game
- Molyneux big announcement

I hope there's a lot more then that. I have no interest in the motion thing. I haven't really enjoyed Rare's last few offerings and Molyneux is always full of ****. If that's there big stuff, I just hope they date Alan Wake and then it won't be a total disappointment

I bet that´s not all, there is also the first Halo: ODST gameplay (that´s a given) and the announcement of the new Ip being made by the recently acquired BigPark studios.
And that´s JUST what we know (or don´t, as nothing is official yet, besides the Molyneux part and the BigPark one, which is logical).

I´m not going to go about the full body motion stuff nor the Rare one because, it´s your call and i respect it, but, as Molyneux goes...c´mon, the man is a genius, one of the top leading designers around.
Ok, it´s still your call and i respect it, and i agree that Molynuex tends to overhype his games, but the man was a genius back then, and he still one now.
Remember Populous, one of the most innovatives and important games ever, the one that created the God game.......Molyneux created that, as you know.
Dungeon Keeper, Syndicate, Black & White...
Even Little Big Planet has Molyneux´s finger (Media Molecule, which was founded by former Lionhead employees, said so)

More rumors (and this i gathered from a thread on Gametrailers)

- Forza 3 (that´s not a rumor anymore)
- At least one Xbox 360 exclusive from Ignition Entertainment
- Avatar social meeting place
- Big multiplatform title demoed
- Some XBLA games announced and demoed, and also some other exclusive titles
- Microsoft FULL GAME download service (this has been talked about since 06)
- Microsoft steal a former PS3 Exclusive
- Halo game by the new internal Microsoft Studio, Spawnpoint Studios (also called, Halo Team)

About the last game, it will only be released in 2010, it will have Master Chief as protagonist and Amazing graphics, but non of the forge, savefilms, etc...

All of those are rumors, but, about the last one, i can see it, except the Master Chief as protagonist, because i believe that MC will only return in Halo 4 and i think that this isn´t it (i´ve read that Halo 4 will be a launching game for the Xbox 3 and made by Gearbox)

I'm well aware of Molynuex's accomplishments, but I've yet to see anything great come from him in years. I'll admit he does come up with great concepts, but the games that follow rarely live up to his concepts, and it doesn't help that he just doesn't know when to shut the hell up and hypes them to no ends. Even now he's said that he plans to tell "the greatest story ever told" in video game format. He has a name and that's what MS cares about.

As far as Rare goes, what exactly have they done lately to warrant praise? As far as I know their contribution to this gen was Kameo, PDZ and Nuts & Bolts. Of those three the only one I liked was Kameo, and I can't say I thought it was anything perticularly special. They may have been great once, but now they take way too long to complete projects and I've yet to see a game from them that match their SNES/N64 days at the least

1. No real interest
2. Could be interesting, though that's an odd name to be banking an exclusive from
3. Urg
4. Most likely, had that last year, too.
5. Cool, I'm up for XBLA stuff.
6. Meh
7. Could be interesting, though I'm doubtful of it, there's not really any other significant 3rd party exclusives left to seal. Only one that comes to mind in MGS4. Sounds a little too much like fanboy wishful thinking to me, but it's certainly possible.
8. No interest there.

Well, with number 7 & 2 there's definitely a possibility there of being interesting. I'm always up for good XBLA titles, so that could be cool.

If that all ends up being true, I guess the conference won't be a total bust for me, but I'll be pretty sadden if there big gambit is this motion stuff.

Is the multiplatform title demo going to be Modern Warfare 2? Or is there a more likely candidate?

They gave us the sniper mission demo in 2007 and an announcement of the beta.

That what actually was I was thinking. It really is one of the most anticipated games of the Winter. MS would probably love to have it at there conference since it's basically the beginning of E3

Well I hope they give us a demo and not just a trailer.

That's what I'm fearing.

You forgot Viva Pinata

That or Assassin´s Creed 2, that´s my call.

The only thing i can say about Rare is that they are currently undergoing a restructure to accommodate 3 areas:
- Expand the Xbox 360 customer base by delivering experiences that allow our customers to interact with our content in new and innovative ways
- Better support efforts to extend the appeal of Xbox LIVE as a social entertainment network to drive greater adoption across the Xbox 360 customer base
- Continue delivering AAA gaming experiences that excite both our current and future customers

More, they are the ones behind the Avatars, the all NXE and the rumored-but believed to be cancelled- Newton (MS´s answer to the Wii motion control), which means they are more and more an integral part of MGS and the XBox brand, not just another developer.
Yes, this gen they haven´t shown much in comparison to previous ones, but i still think they will return to form.

Take this with a grain of salt...a huge dose of it.
I took this from the Gametrailers forums, and the one that made the thread said he read it at N4G and the source is from a twitter account.

- MS is about to stun E3 with their lineup
- The new full body motion camera is real and it´s called Xbox Fluid
- There will be announcements on Splinter Cell Conviction, Halo ODST, Alan Wake and APB (which it say can very well be the GTA kiler)
- The press conference will open with Molyneux/Lionhead project called "Ritcher"
- The finale will be the former PS3 exclusive, the one that everyone said would never happen.
MGS 4 will be on the 360 and will be called Metal Gear Solid 4 Oxide

N4G removed that story. The person who started that Twitter story (gamefork) also created a Sony one under gamespoon. He claimed to be playing Heavy Rain.
