Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor

Yeah, my hope is that they add Expansion type DLC. Opening new regions for us to explore, do quests in, etc... I hope they go that route instead of saving the world for future games...that would be way too many games. It makes sense to open up more of the world via DLC with each game instead.

I doubt that'll happen. Im not seeing this game getting a ton of post launch support past the standard season pass. Its a licensed game, WB will put it out and then move on.

My official preview of the playable demo.

I really liked what I got to play so far. The Nemesis system is interesting. The combat and stealth is very reminiscent of the Arkham games. Overall good controls, good level design and graphics. I'm still curious to see how different the Nemesis system would turn out on different plays though.

Thanks for that. Good read. I'm also cautiously optimistic about this.

Yup, picking it up for sure.. Probably my first digital XB1 title.

I was going to get this anyway, but was sure that the reviews were going to be middle of the board, stretching to bad.

Only one bad review so far - all others giving it top marks or around 8/10.

Happy to see it getting good reviews. The demo I played really encouraged me that they made a pretty good game here.

9/10 by IGN is a pretty big coup for this game.

Warner Bros. Interactive is really establishing itself as a powerhouse publisher now.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor : A Ranger's Creed

Posted Sep 26, 2014

The Lord of the Rings has had its fair share of games, both flops and successes, since the movies brought Tolkien into the mainstream consciousness. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is the latest offering from Publisher Warner Bros. Interactive and developer Monolith Studios. Clearly aimed at capitalizing on the popularity of open world action games such as Assassin’s Creed, Shadow of Mordor is a compelling action RPG that oozes style and production value. But is it any good? In a word: yes. In many words, read on for our full review.

Editor’s Note: This is the first review we’re doing without the Innovation score. It’s been decided that innovation should be a part of the overall Gameplay category, and that a game’s innovation shouldn’t factor too largely in a game’s score. A really solid MMO or RPG can still be a great game, even if it borrows heavily from those games which came before it. In the future, Innovation will be gone from both MMO and RPG reviews. Additionally, the “Aesthetics” category has been changed to “Visuals & Sound”, with the UI factoring now into the Polish category. The Social score for MMOs will remain the same, giving us 6 categories on MMO reviews, and 5 for RPGs.

Final Score 8.2

Really glad to see this game getting great reviews. Definitely have to pick it up.

Yea I saw where ign gave it a 9.3. I'm on vacation until Friday but I pre-downloaded the game before I left so it'll be there for me when I get back. Super stoked.

For some reason I thought publications and gaming websites were hating on this game months ago. Guess I was wrong. Can't wait to play this. Looks and sounds amazing.

After this, I really wouldn't mind seeing Monolith work on another big franchise.

I wonder if WB Interactive will give them the keys to Batman after Rocksteady finishes Arkham Knight?

Shadow of Mordor is really like a mix of Assassin's Creed and Arkham City.

hmmm they have WB Montreal for that. and it's just the Arkham series mostly and sleeping dog's which was inspired from the latter of what you said. Yeah I'm aware he's using swords .

They have WB Montreal, but they weren't able to pull it together for Arkham Origins.

you know why? cause they unlike rock steady and these guys on mordor they weren't allowed the chance to ask for a push back or say they needed more time. they were made to put it out with that cause they wanted fan to keep about bring a other rocksteady batman game now.

it's what happens when people act impatient. They were a team that put together with the same year it was announced. I fallowed Origins. from game informer even to the point when they said they were ready to launch and told vic of EPn.tv who has a link to game informer as was stated this past weekend . on a pod cast . when they( the people from Vic's basement podcast ) went to visit just befor Tgs that year . and I was worried when they said that back then and then the bug's happened.

that game was rushed cause the people WBE the publisher didn't give them the same allowance they gave to rock steady who's first installment pf Arkham was delayed for a bit which people keep repeatedly forgetting that happened here . But they(WBE) did with these guys. that was the problem there with WBM and the fact that people incharge in the Montreal should have pushed for a push back /delay to make absolutely sure no matter the complaints for the awaiting audience and WBE should given them that Autonomy .

And I'm sorry what's the difference then with someone that was just some what made newly as the director Eric Holmes was one of the people brought in that year among others compared to capcom that has been around for decades and we always give a second chance's with the latter no matter how they screw up, but the new person who is new should be allowed make mistakes and be given a second chance ?

When your new and your allowed to make mistakes and learn from them. Its when you been around for a while in that your supposed to know better, cause you also see mistakes other around have made as well as your self and you have the time to make a list of stuff not to let happen. you have the time to be aware of a lot . Unless your too self absorbed some how to bother with that, which will be costly if that's the case. that's the difference between the two.

Anyway here's stuff o the season pass
