You know what's been bugging me in Smallville since about season 6? The fact that (other than flight) Clark is still missing a few powers. Now I'm not talking fly-around-the-world-to-reverse-time, or kiss-a-girl-to-make her-forget-things or even sellophane-shield-envelopes-bad-guy, since they're all made up for the movies. I'm talking telescopic vision! It's one of Supes' main powers and Smallville hasn't even hinted that it's coming up! Clark is supposed to be able to see great distances, and see things on a microscopic level, even be able to see things outside of the normal visual spectrum (infra-red, ultraviolet, radio waves), yet Smallville Clark is woe-is-me'ing about the fact he can't fly!

It's a travesty I say!

Of course, introducing this power would be an ideal time to bring Ray Palmer onto the show too.

Jinkies!

Clark's powers grow and get stronger over time. The longer he spends under the sun, the more powerful he gets. This is why is so much stronger now than he was in season 1 and getting a new power almost every season. Telescopic vision is an extension of his x-ray vision. Over time he will get it, but his eyes need to get to the point that they are strong enough.

Didn't he at one point during season 4 X-ray through the floor of an elevator down the entire elevator shaft and notice an earring at the bottom or something?
Does that count?

He's been able to use telescopic power since the Pilot, he used it to look at Lana standing on her porch instead of the telescope, so he uses his vision but it's only been shown a few times in the show...

After the Pilot I think he used it in Slumber when he was looking for Lana and found her on the road with the bad guy, then the one episode where Lex was framed for murder, he found the fallen diamond earring at the bottom of the elevator shaft with it, I believe that's Bound.

He hasn't really used it since, I don't think.

Almost everytime he uses X-Ray vision, you see him telescoping.

Remember that one episode, the one where Clark's neighbors come like in Lana's old house, the daughter was in a coma or something. But, she was able to enter into Clark's dreams. When the father kidnaps Lana, Clark looks outside and uses his telescopic vision to zoom past the forest to find Lana?

But, I see your point, we haven't had that episode where it was dedicated to Clark learning telescopic vision

no it's not. Telescopic and Microscoping vision are a result of his physiology, his eyes can focus better than ours

x-ray vision rather has to do with his rods and cones... the kryptonian visible light spectrum is much greater than ours.

I will never let this go: that power never existed. Watch your Superman IV again. It's nothing more than a bad ass kiss from a superhuman.

yea they havent specifically given an episode about telescoping aspect to his vision powers. But we know he has it and has used it multiple times. Like others have said over the years clark's powers have become faster, stronger, and more powerful. Take for example how fast he was in season 1 to season 9. Heck even in early season 1 he got hurt by bullets which now he doesnt.

This is one of the coolest things & most understated things about the show I like. I remember an episode early in the show when Lex is hypnotized and shoots Clark. If it happened now it wouldn't even affect him. But, back then they left black & blue marks. It just shows how his powers are getting stronger each year.

You know what I'm waitin for? The celophane \S/:

yea that is something i liked with the show over the years we have seen his powers grow and him control them much better.

I stand corrected. Season 1 was so long ago and I may have missed the odd episode.

Still, one of my favourite Supes moments is when he says things like "Do you know what radio waves look like? Because I do" then flies off to beat up some distant bad guy.
