As excellent of a public speaker he is, he's not posh enough for a Brit
Who isnt posh enough for a Brit? Because Cavill is a Brit.

I Love Knight & Day.
But, it wasn't well received at the box office.
There were definitely some line readings that felt a little awkward. His first scene with Cruise before the Halo jump felt a little weird to me, like he was forcing it a little too much.I felt at times Henry was struggling with the American accent, but that might just be me.
You mention the goofier tone of GP, but that film opens with the brutal murder of An IMF agent. My ranking from most favorite to least.
MISSION IMPOSSIBLE - Love the creepy tone and the more everyman quality to Hunt.
FALLOUT - For the next level action and the callbacks to the original.
ROGUE NATION - The Batman Begins to Fallouts TDK.
MI3 - Bland supporting cast, but the Davien stuff is great.
MI2 - Im sure Ive got nostalgia goggles on, but I like it, especially the villain.
GHOST PROTOCOL - The Dubai stunt was cool, but I dont like the goofier tone. I never rewatch this one.
Yeah the only film that I would say had a goofy tone was MI2 with the over-the-top love story and absurd visuals.

Jane Carter who loved this man is so mortified at being in the same room with his killer that at one
Point, her hands are trembling.
Yes, GP has a slightly lighter tone but there is plenty of conflict and drama.
Heck, they barely averted World War III!
And they came so close to failing their mission in GP that they had to answer for it in the next film.
#2 accomplished that rare "feet" of being both dumb and boring all at the same time.
Just curious, who is your least favorite character in the Mission Impossible film franchise?Yep I remember all that. I still find it too light and cartoony though.

I don't care what anyone says. I will take M:I 2 over M:I 3 any day of the week, every damn time.
Then again, I seem to be the only guy around here who actually really likes M:I 2...
I dunno, I looove MI:3 and I love it because A) the story is simple, straightforward and easy to follow (lets face it, these movies get too convoluted for their own good sometimes). B) PSH is the BEST villain of the franchise. He was so menacing and really brought the tension to the film. C) the climax. Even though it wasnt as epic as MI4-6, i thought it was tense AF especially when Ethan "dies" and Julia is left to fend off a bunch of mercenaries by herself while trying to revive her husband. I thought JJ did an excellent job of crafting an intimate but nailbiting climax in that movie.
