Glad she's back. Hopefully the marketing team won't put her in butt poses on posters and in trailers again.

^I LOVE that Simon Pegg called them out on that, too.

One minor correction. Julia (Michelle Monaghan's character) IS mentioned throughout GP and makes a cameo at the end. So technically, she's the first female to be in two MI films.
Well the article says she's "the first actress to return as Tom Cruise's leading lady," which is technically correct since Julia was not a leading lady in GP and only had a one-scene cameo. But yes, the headline is off and misleading.

Anyhoo, thrilled to have Ferguson back. Still crossing fingers for Paula Patton and/or Maggie Q as well.

She could just come back as Nikita and fulfill one of my spy crossover fantasies while she's at it. ;)

I just want to see Ferguson and Patton together. Hell, give them a spin off. :oldrazz:

Nikita you say?

Rebecca Ferguson was the best thing about Mi5, glad she's coming back.

So rare to see a franchise with this shelf-life that has stayed consistently solid and improved and surprised with each film, starting with MI:III (though that remains my favorite installment).

That said... I have less concern about McQuarrie returning (Yes, I still have reservations) despite his impeccable batting average with Cruise and more on how quickly they are rushing this into development. One of the reasons why they have been so good since 2006 is the fact they have had time to get away from it, do other things and come back refreshed.

For the first time, they're going right into the next one, and I fear that will come across in its quality.

I heard a podcast with McQuarrie and he and Cruise laid out the plan going into 6 as they were doing five.

Yeah, they were talking about future plans during their press tour for RN, which is why it came as no surprise to me that McQuarrie was back on board, as it seemed like he was already writing it and they already had the big stunts planned and stuff.

Since we're talking about Cruise and McQuarrie collaborations, I think that Rosamund Pike would be a great choice to play the villain this time around.

Yeah, that was so dumb and so blatant. "Oh, lets have the guys wear suits and be in traditional action poses, and the girl in leathers and showing off her butt to the camera." Not even trying to be subtle there are you marketing people? "Oh and lets throw a butt shot into all of the trailers, that's not even in the actual movie itself. Because, sexy I guess."

Talk about the marketing not matching the final product.

I've been pushing for an Ilsa Faust spin-off film ever since RN came out. I mean she's not an actual member of the IMF and she clearly does her own stuff outside of interacting with Ethan and co. So the basic groundwork/set-up is already there.

They need to do a reversal in MI6 marketing where Tom, Ilsa, Ving and Jeremy are doing the typical slow-walk towards the camera, and it's Simon wearing a leather catsuit showing his butt. He'd totally do it, you all know he would.

You can put as many Nikitas as you want in this film, as long as Maggie Q's one of 'em! :argh:

Having the 6th one be Ethan + 3 men/woman in a Seven Samurai-kinda deal would be slick.

Ooooh, I really like that idea! Rosamund would be fantastic . Get Patton and Q back as well and just take all my money now :argh:.

During an interview with Collider, he was asked about his preparations on the sixth installment.

McQuarrie's attention right now is mostly focused on the next 'Mission' with the pressure on him to top his previous film: "Look, we definitely have to raise the bar, we've got to do that every time. And we have an idea for one sequence in particular and it's one we're very, very excited about. It's going to be incredibly challenging to do, and we're very excited."

That sequence is speculated to be a sequence originally designed for 'Rogue Nation' that they decided not to use but hoped to revisit in a future chapter. The scene involved Ethan Hunt being trapped in the middle of a glass corridor walkway between skyscrapers as enemies close from either side. He would then use the glass breaking device from 'Rogue Nation' to shatter the entire bridge.

It might look cool but honestly doesn't sound that cool. At least not compared to hanging from the tallest building in the world or on the side of a plane that's taking off. I still say he should jump a motorcycle off the grand canyon.

Like a modern spy-fi version of the bridge sequence from Temple of Doom? I could dig it.
