Great Article on the thematics from the 5th entry. I personally think it was the best entry and one of the best films in genre right along with Casino Royale.

I love the distinction between Lane and Hunt. The only thing keeping Hunt's sanity is ability to love his friends more than himself. That's why Faust is such a great character. both Lane and Hunt are drawn to her strength, but they react to it different. Hunt chooses to trust her when it might mean his destruction. lane tries to control and manipulate her. Lane doesn't care ...better yet trust people. Hunt has the courage to trust even when he has no proof that she ill return the favor.

That's what I think this flick is about. Caring about people.

I still say they need to go to space. Ethan Hunt needs to do a bike jump from a space ship onto the top of the Shanghai tower, and then ride it down the side of the building to the ground. It would work because the structure is curved. #fact

This is probably it for Cruise. It might as well be a live or die, one shot scene. Hell, just do the scene on live TV... "Stay tuned for the conclusion of our film on (insert date)."

Early pre-production on the film has been halted until Tom Cruise's deal can be worked out. Paramount is looking for Cruise and co-producers Skydance and Bad Robot to trim their fees, while Cruise wants the salary bump he received for The Mummy and not the same salary he got on Mission Impossible Rogue Nation.

Deadline sees this incident as a mere hiccup, as writer/director Chris McQuarrie has started writing out the script and filming won't start until January 2017. The soft pre-production entailed the action beats in the storyline hashed out by Cruise and McQuarrie, but the studio has halted that until Cruise's deal is signed.
