^She's pretty the most praised part of the movie. And it'd be a cool movie with a strong female lead. There's two good reasons right there.

Can't we nowadays just get a good movie with interesting characters that doesn't get talks of spin-offs? It's starting to get tiring, just keep her on the team for the next film, also wish Paula Patton from Ghost Protocol returns, they never gave a reason for her disappearance from the story.

Maybe the next movie could have Ilsa return as a team member, but give her a quasi independent storyline where she's effectively the lead character for her side of the mission (i.e. similar to Brandt's role in the current movie). Rather than have her play off Ethan as a love interest. That might cement her status as the natural successor to Hunt and test whether audiences would buy her as the sole lead in a future film.
Another way to test those waters might be to have Ethan captured or something at the end of Act 1 and the team seeks out Ilsa's help to get him out, where she'd essentially fill his role on the operation (and the Act II op is usually the "big heist" part of any M:I movie) 'til they get him out and team up again for the climax in Act 3. That would give audiences a chance to see her working with the team in a leadership capacity (in the "Ethan role") while still having Tom around for a few more crazy stunts, lol.

This movie was good. I saw it in IMAX; which I almost never do, and it was totally worth it. Can't wait to see it again

Most movies DON'T get talk of spin-offs. It's the It's the exception rather than the rule. And she was only "on the team" in the loosest sense of the word:

-She works for a different agency.
-They were apart more than they were together in the film.
-She had her own agenda, and only teamed up with them because they had a common enemy.
-Her last scene sets it up perfectly.

for certain shots he's on a rig as well I think. The frontal close-ups for example.. that would be way too dangerous to film. certified stunt driver or not.

The ones where he's almost touching the ground? They just use a a camera car for that which is further away then the shot looks, and for the very close up shots they could do the same or use the type of camera attachment on the bike McQuarrie used for the car chase in Reacher.

For me, Tom riding the motorbike in that scene is just as impressive as anything he did in Rogue Nation. Those bikes were zooming. It must be so good for a director to have the actor's face in the shot like that, instead of using clever editing with stunt doubles.

Agreed, as elaborate as some of the other stunts were the bike chase had a visceral energy that was unmatched. A few directors have mentioned how they have been able to get shots in action sequence that are so vital to the sequence drawing the audience in that they just can't get with other actors due to how much of the stunt work he does.

I think that the car and motorbike stuff were the the best action stunts in the film.
I love that the sequence starts with a high tech heist and that turns into one of the best chase sequences in movie history .

It really was exhilarating the way the sequence branched from heist to car chase to motorbike pursuit.

Just finished watching it. I loved it and think it's the best M.I. movie yet! The action scenes were fantastic. There's a scene with the motorcycle chase that I swear was shot on the same mountain road as the one used in the new Fast and Furious. I give this movie a 4.5 out of 5 stars. Extremely entertaining.

Got back from a second viewing a while ago and noticed a couple things from seeing it again.

1. You can actually see Solomon Lane in the very beginning of the movie sitting in a sound booth when Ethan first walks into the music shop to collect his mission.

2. I noticed in Ethan's threat to Solomon about bluffing or not with the account numbers he mentions about putting him in a box. :hehe:

Yeah, that's one of those nice little touches in the dialogue that I loved on re-watch. Also the fact that Ilsa's last words to Ethan are the same ones she said when she helped him escape the night they met. And that they brought back Ethan's call-sign from the first M:I, haha. There are some wonderful little details in this movie.

I preordered the Bluray.

Also, the four set collection is only 20 somethin' dollars or so..Anyone here own it or ya'll prefer to buy one by one?

I got that 4-movie blu-ray set a couple weeks back. It's fine, but it only contains "Disc One" of all those movies, so if there was a 2nd disc of special features for any of 'em, it's not included.

Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation has crossed the $100 million mark in China and is inching closer and closer to crossing the $700 million mark worldwide.

I am really glad this movie doing great at box office

Well it's been a while since my last viewing, but to paraphrase, he was basically telling her that misinformation and manipulation are Lane's game - his primary mode of operation. Suggesting that the "list" was a plant and that Ilsa had been manipulated because Lane knew she was a double.

Except that was all just a facade by Atlee because he was just covering his tracks for his screw-up, and he used that opportunity to scrub the flash drive.

Thanks guys. I get the general gist of it though and I was looking for the exact dialogue. :oldrazz:

This was even better 2nd time, like some others I noticed some little things which make re-watching a movie like this really enjoyable. Others have pointed them out but it's still interesting to notice. When I first saw this I didn't think it was as good as the 4th movie, but now I am not so sure.

I actually bought the box set so I am going to watch them all in order again then decide. So glad McQuarrie is coming back, been a fan of his since The Way Of The Gun. Really hope Rebecca Ferguson comes back as well though, love her so much in this.

Just saw it yesterday. Damn good movie. 8.75/10

#2 of the year for me so far.

TBH this movie didn't resonate with me the way it did with others when I saw it in theaters. I think I just need to watch it again.

Having rewatched Ghost Protocol the other day, they actually set up this movie. Ethan's briefing at the end of the film mentions The Syndicate by name (you have to listen closely to hear it though). So it sets up the idea that he was tracking them the whole time in-between films (which couldn't have been too long given what we're shown/told here).

So was this movie good compared to Ghost Protocal? I know Protocal was loved by many and honestly I disliked it very much, was easily the worst in the series in my opinion.
