Modern Warfare 2

Yeah, it was my weapon of choice in the hardcore modes.

Wow, just read the last page. First ive heard of many of these things. only 1 more week to go.

Man, people have actually gotten 20 plus kills on here?! Damn. The highest I could get is 12. I've gotten it a couple times, right when I hit 12 I think I'm going to break my record when I die, kind of sucks.

The other week I got 44 kills for 11 deaths on Bloc :awesome:

Im not great at multiplayer, I pop in and out occasionally but I get shot in the face a lot...

:funny: Everyone does though I suppose. You could be on a roll and all of a sudden find yourself in a match where it seems the people on the opposing team are gods of COD or something.

Or you could be doing crap then find yourself in a match where the opposing team are utterly crap.

Swings and roundabouts.

Yeah, I love those matches where randomly I seem to be getting every kill.

Because they do in real life?

That's not the point I was making. The guns all seem to have the same identical amount of very small recoil, which I was saying is bad.

But I really, really, really dislike the nuke thing. Instant game ender. Seems pretty dumb to me. But I suppose it's not everyday someone gets a 25 kill streak.

If you're going 25 and 0, and the opposition can't kill you, they don't deserve to win, even if they're ahead IMO. I've lost countless times when I've had a massive kill lead. Who would waste a killstreak on this though? Not me.

Yeah, I really doubt someone could achieve that. I think the game would be won before that happens. You'd have to be the best camper on the planet to get it.

Domination or headquarters. blech

Why in the hell is my AK not available until level 70!? :cmad:

Big power I'm guessing, and coupled with the lower recoil, probably a pretty powerful gun. Same reason why the M16 is up there.

How is the airport scene any different than the scene in the first one where you play the guy about to get capped? Because there's more violence?

I don't remember gunning down an airport full of civilians in the first one.

There's quite a huge difference, the two levels are the opposite of eachother when you think about it. Agressive v. Defensive.

But in the same scene, you're driving down the street where people are being killed, lined-up and shot. The only difference I see is that there wasn't any explicit violence in the first one.

Eh, it's Modern Warfare, people ask for realism and frankly, that airport scene is realistic. You're not supposed to feel good about it, that's the point.

The airport scene is just one of those things that highlights the double standard regarding what video games are allowed to show. If such a scene was in a movie or a TV show nobody would bat an eyelash, but because it's in a video game...OMGCONTROVERSY!!1

And it would be considered compelling and thought provoking.

You don't have to gun anyone down. The scene plays out exactly the same whether you involve yourself in the action or not.

Well, that's actually a good thing. Allowing the player to be active or not.

Videogames aren't movies or TV shows. There's a difference between how you can experience a videogame as opposed to a movie. And sorry, but COD4 isn't exactly on my list of best written videogames, either. The storytelling was pretty bad actually.

No.

I don't see the problem with it. It makes you hate the villains even more. And it is just showing something that could happen, actually it already did in Pakistan was it?

It's part of the story for a video game. And as mentioned you can choose not to fire at anyone.

If people are too sensitive about these things then I question why they are playing a game about war in the first place. War ain't pretty, so a game about war is not going to be pretty.

No.

Now you're just arguing for the sake of argument.

War has evolved from lining up on two sides and rushing at each other.

Yeah, you don't think a movie or tv show showing some undercover agent having to do the unthinkable, shooting innocent civilians to keep his cover for the greater good and the inner debate and guilt of such an action would not be considered compelling? Honestly?

Agreed, but playing as one of the terrorist (I know about the story element there, so no spoiler for people on my part).

Which is a good thing, allowing the player to choose. I just think there's a better way of getting the storytelling across than through that level. That's all.

Don't have to like the level, though. Liking the level "just because war is bad" isn't really much of a reason for liking it.

You think it "just" will be compelling?

It depends on how it's done. How it's shown, acted and written. Just because of the situation itself doesn't mean it will be compelling. It's how it's shown.

And how you experience a film and a videogame are different. There are massive upsides for a videogame to use it's strengths that a movie would never have, but there's downsides too that a movie would never have.

It's not like comparing apples to apples. There's a difference, if you can't see that then...I don't know what movie's you been watching.
