i mean im talking about scenes where it put a smile on you face wider than any comedy youve ever been, and not because it was funny...

this goes in no particular order -

star wars episode 1 - the podracing sequence is easily one of the best racing scenes ever, with an incredible sense of speed that made my 8th grade tummy go inside out. seeing it on the big screen only made it better.

King Kong '05 - all of the v-rex battle i was completely unprepared for. i didnt realize how huge the smile was on my face until the end of the scene, when my cheeks started to become strained. :woot:

lotr: the two towers - the opening with gandolf and big bad monster demon falling down the cavern. at first i was pissed with having to sit so close to the screen cuz the theater was so packed, but after i was certain that this only made me cream my pants even harder.

spider-man 2 - the train fight with doc ock. the movie had moments when it completely dragged on (character development? eeeehh no dragging on) but this fight more than made up for it. the part where spidey does his superspeed matrix lean-back to dodge the overpass made me laugh out loud cuz only cuz i was caught by surprise.:woot:

matrix revolutions - speaking of which, i dunno, this movie had its moments, both good and bad. but i dont see why the part when the machines finally break into Zion isnt referred to more often. i remember the amount of detail in every single sentinel and mech blew my mind away. it hurt my eyes. but in a good way. does that make sense? but yea, that God-hand part, WOW... :wow:

the incredibles - the Dash sequence in the jungle was toooo good. hell the whole damned movie was, but i wasnt expecting such a top notch action scene from pixar. speed is king.

terminator 3 - yea this movie doesnt get a whole lotta love and deservedly so, but if i remember right, it had one of the best chase scenes ive ever scene. its been a while since ive seen it, so i could be wrong, but i remember it kicking all kinds of ass, especially in such a average movie.

star wars episode 5 - when the millenium falcon is escaping from the star destroyers and spinning and doing all sorts of insano stunts, which then leads to the amazing asteroid scene, combined with the stellar john williams score that is my favorite star wars theme. i pretty much damn near creamed my pants back in elementary school the first time i saw this, and this was back on the small screen on vhs.

batman begins - not action but seeing CB for the first time as batman made me giddygiddygiddy.

dead alive - wow. just..wow. this whole movie shocked me to no end. i wasnt prepared for the level of gore, and i loved every second of it.

i know im missing a lot good ones, and i feel bad since most of these are recent cg-driven movies or scenes, so keep them coming!

The first time I saw a real life dinosaur on the big screen. (Jurassic Park, when Grant and Ellie see their first dino)

Terminator 3 - Crane chase sequence.

Everything in the LOTR trilogy.

Most things in Lord of the Rings, but certainly the moment I will never forget seeing for the first time was the ride of the rohirrim from return of the king. That was just incredible.

War of the Worlds: first tripod appearance

Episode III: Anakin and Obi-Wan flying into that massive dogfight in the opening

X2: Nightcrawler assault on the white house

Superman Returns: Plane scene.

oh goody im glad im not the only one

Hmm...
The Fight with Bahamut in Final Fantasy: Advent Children.
War of the Worlds, pretty much the entire thing is jaw dropping.
The Space Battle between the Reavers and the Alliance in Serenity.

The Departed has two really great ones:

When Captain Queenan (Martin Sheen) is thrown off the roof, and everything just goes silent until he finally hits the ground. I remember when me, my mom and my brother saw it in the theater, everyone in there went silent. A brilliant sequence, and proof of just how great Scorsese truly is.

and

When Billy Costigan (Leonardo DiCaprio) gets killed. After all the **** he'd been through, throughout the entire movie, you'd think in the end they'd cut him a break and he'd get out alive. But the killing is so shocking, so unexpected (unless you've seen the original Asian version, Infernal Affairs) that ending it in any other way would've defeated the dramatic impact to a grest degree. Again, great proof of how great Scorsese is.

Other moments:

The "Tiny Dancer" singalong in Almost Famous
The Nazis' head exploding in Raiders Of The Lost Ark
Jack Napier's (Jack Nicholson) reemergence as The Joker (when he kills Grishom, played the late, great Jack Palance)
The revelation at the end of The Empire Strikes Back
The lady in the bathtub in The Shining
Phoebe Cates' nude scene in Fast Times At Ridgemont High

The photographer (David Warner) working with Robert Thorne (Gregory Peck) getting decpatitated in The Omen
The little boy getting devoured by the shark in Jaws.

trying to think of some that haven't been mentioned yet:

The last 10-15 minutes of The Punisher. I mean, Frank putting that knife through that guys jaw was great.

Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan - Three places 1) Kirk turning the tables on Khan by dropping the Reliant's shields. 2) Where Kirk finally contacts the Enterprise to let them know it's "been 2 hours." and 3) the Enterprise rising up from below the Reliant to come up right behind them.

Flash Gordon: "What do you mean...Flash Gordon Approaching." And everything that follows. Nuff said.

If I may add a TV Show:

Battlestar Galactica: The season opener where the Galactica
Jumps into the atmosphere and launches all the vipers then jumps out....and the Pegasus coming in at the last minute to save Galactica.

The scene with the "man with the white beard" in The Matrix: Reloaded.

5 little words 'NO, I am your Father...' My face was on the damn floor, i didnt beleive it at first, i refused to believe it! best plot twist in cinema history and the ultimate jaw drop moment.
Also from the SW universe:
Episode I, Duel Of The Fates

Episode III, the calm before the storm of the dog fight, when ani and obi wan, barrel roll, over the star destroyer and you see the huge battle going on below them, i knew it would redeem the prequels single handedly. excellent.

Episode III, Palpatines corkscrew dive was insane! then at the end of the fight, him unleashing all his power on the helpless, yet still effortlessly cool, Mace Windu. Perfect.

Non-SW related.
Any battle from LotR. Especailly, as someone else mentioned, The rohirm marching to certain doom in RotK.

The Hand of God (setinel version) from matrix Reveloutions was brilliant IMO, me and my friend gave a collective 'Holy...'

First time you see The Matrix, all of it is jaw dropping.

X- men: Wolverine Vs Sabertooth, I waited SO damn long to see that fight on screen.

I have to agree with Everything in The Lord of the Rings. Just jaw dropping stuff there...even some of the smaller moments just blew me away, like Frodo and Sam on the slopes of Mt. Doom.

The T-Rex attack on the two ford explorers in Jurassic Park. When the little girl shines her flashlight onto the Rex's eye and you see it dilate, ooh, it still gives me chills.

War Of The Worlds - Tripods appearing for the first time.
War Of The Worlds - The Tripods blowing the huge bridge apart.
Casino Royale - The opening titles.
King Kong - Kong vs. T-Rexes.

...I have alot of these scenes, but I don't feel like listing them all.

Tina's death in A Nightmare on Elm Street. That is just relentless, and shocking.

the entirity of how absolutely crap X-men 3 was... should've just called it ****ing Z-men... cuz it was that crap

I can't think of any moments when my own jaw has dropped,

But when a few of my friends took this guy I know to The Rocky Horror Picture Show, the moment when Tim Curry reveals his lingerie practically had him comatose.

when I was a kid I think 7 and 8.....I never seen nothing like the T-1000 in Terminator 2......they way he regenerated with all the silver liquid......my mouth was open the whole movie from the action scene.......I went Bezerk when I seen Jurassic park!!!!!!!!

Matrix Reloaded....Smiths Vs Neo
Spider-man 2......Ock vs Spiderman
Silence of the Lamb.......Dr.Lecture escape from Captivity(cuts a guy face off and put over his!!!!)
King Kong 2005....V-rex vs Kong
all of LOTRs battles.......

The Last March of the Ents in The Two Towers
The opening scene in Jaws
Nearly every beheading in Sleepy Hollow
Every fight scene in Brotherhood of the Wolf

The scene in Superman Returns where Superman falls back to earth after lifting the kryptonite-laced boulder into space. And then 'Superman is dead'.

That left me in shock long after that movie was over.
