Saddest Movie Moments

Forgot one, in Soylent Green when Edward G Robinson's character(forget his name) goes in to get Euthanised and Thorn(Charlton Heston) tries to talk him out of it as the process has already begun.

The music and images on the screen as well as me being strongly against euthanasia made that scene very sad.

The Prestige.
When the Bordens say goodbye at the prison gate. ''You go and live your life for both of us''

Lion King--Death of Mufasa then Simba discovers his dead body.
Grave of the Fireflies--Sieta little sister dies...actually the whole movie is sad imo.

Really? I always found that more of an inspirational moment in the film. Very powerful yes.

Also an inspirational moment to me in FotR is when Frodo is crying at the end and recalls what Gandalf says "all you have to do is decide what to do with the time given to you" and he carries on. Very inspirational.

For TTT I have to go with Sam's story to Frodo at the end "They had something worth fighting for", so inspirational.

Yeah those scenes with Sam were moving .

The ending of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is pretty sad. I also thought the 'death' of Jean in X-2 was done well. I found the part of the Breakfast Club, when they're all sitting on the ground talking about their lives at home. Pretty sad.

Saving Private Ryan-
when Tom hanks gets shot, him whispering something to Ryan

30 Days of Night-
Josh H dies when the sun rise in girls arms

Braveheart- Freeeeeeeeeeeeeeedoooooooooooooom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- Harry Stamper's death scene in Armageddon.

Granted I was only 10 when I saw it in theaters, but I cried my eyes out at this scene. Say what you want about Bay, this scene was very powerful, IMO.

i'm 26....the last time i cried in a movie was in the absolute saddest movie moment of all time.

The death of Optimus Prime

i think this conversation is over now. :woot:

Yes. :woot:

Don't laugh but 'Armageddon' always chokes me up when he's saying goodbye to his daughter.

Outside of films, "Futurama". Fry thinks his beloved dog, Seymour, forgot about him and found a new owner when he was cryogenically frozen. We, however, learn otherwise as the episode draws to a close:

I feel ya brother, Family Guy may be funny....

But Futurama can be extremely funny...and really moving at other times :csad:

I can't watch the ending to that episode because it gets me so sad :o

to those that cry during Armageddon, you're not alone.
There's Harry's goodbye
and "thats not a salesman, that's your daddy"
There are about five instances I always want to cry during that movie, sometimes from being sad, and sometimes from joy

The scene where his kid comes running into his arms gets me all choked up.

me too, the whole father angle has really gotten me lately. I even cried during the last viewing of Con Air when she hugs her daddy for the first time and takes the bunny

Sooo many, but off the top of my head i'd say S.T. II, Braveheart, and E.T. stand out.

I totally agree with whoever said Penguin's death in BR, and I'd like to add the Order 66 scene in ROTS. Yes, I cried during that scene.

Tears of the Sun. I cried when they found the dead baby. Actually that whole movie is sad with what those animals do to hundreds of innocent people for no reason at all. It makes me sick.

Dan looking at the gift his daughter made for him (from the movie Dan in Real Life)

An older one that actually got me choked up because of all the events he went through and was always thinking about her was in Forrest Gump when he's at her grave and starts crying while saying "I miss you Jenny".

That man in me had to really hold back my tears around my friends during that scene lol.

I like that one too, one of my faves

And the dan in real life one, i like that one alot

Again pretty simple topic, like the best twist ending.

The Island -
Michael Clark Duncan's death scene. He made believable that he was going to The Island.
I'm surprised this is so rarely mentioned (though not too surprised, considering the film). Incredibly sad and emotionally visceral scene. Michael Clark Duncan brought true, lingering horror to his few minutes of screen time. Underrated actor.

And someone mentioned the "Jurassic Bark" episode of Futurama. Bar-none, probably the most emotional episode of any television show I've ever seen.

And it was a friggin' cartoon. :o
