More plot details?

Does someone know who's the black guy that Sandman pushes through the window in the leaked trailer at 2:30? And where does it take place?

No one is that simple. Have you ever heard of anyone, especially a violent jerk like Brock having only one person they hate? They may have one person who's the focus of their anger, but generally such types have bad relationships with alot of people. Sometimes, pretty much everyone.

Actually, I only recall Brock hating Spider-Man in the comic books. I remember in the cartoon, he also hated Jonah Jameson for firing him.

What I'm saying is that Brock may not like what Gwen did to him, but he probably lays the blame for her actions on Peter. As I said, he seems to be the one he blames for his misfortunes. He's the one who reduces Brock to tears in the church. He's the one Brock asks god to kill.

And again- we did get a set report of Gwen and Brock arguing in front of her house. So, there's no question that he harbors some anger toward Gwen.

Yes, but that could be just Brock confronting her over seeing Peter. And he might just put it down to Peter coercing her.

LOL! You gotta be kidding right? :whatever:

Dude, that would be cheapening the character of Eddie Brock. Where do you see Eddie is trying to control Gwen... where? It almost like you are talking about yourself, cause I don't see where Eddie is one of those guys.

He said that Gwen left him, because of his ambitions... his ambitions in his job is what Eddie is obsessed with. Like SLYspyder said, you work your whole life only to see your career be ruin and label as a fraud. He out to get Peter Parker and that's all. Like Doc Ock said, there is no reason for him to kill or even try to harm Gwen what-so-ever.

You have no point. He may be a little pist and unhappy with the perception of Gwen flirting with Peter, but there is nothing in this film that says she is head over heels for Peter... nothing.

Dude how do you know that. We don't know jack about this story, for you to make such a direct statement.

If a woman rejects you- even if you're the best guy in the world, you're going to feel some anger toward her. You're certainly not going to say okay and dance a jig. And if you're an angry young man like Brock- it's going to run that much deeper.

As for cheapening Brock- Please. The comic character was sent into a murderous rage because he got fired. Raimi is at least adding dimension to him by making his rage at Peter about more than his job.

But- When you've got an attitude like Brock (He lies, doctors photos about Spidey etc.) you're not going to only harbor anger toward one person. Guys like Brock hate the world, and everyone who crosses them.

Maybe he will try to get back with Gwen and she refuses and tells him she never wants to talk to him again, blah, blah, blah. Then if he finds out she is going out on a date with Peter (shown dancing in trailer) then he gets pissed off enough at her to harm her.

And let's remeber that Sam raimi doesn't like the very one-dimensional portrayal of Brock in the comics.

The reports we've seen suggest that Brock and gwen broke up before Peter came along (Even the one this thread is based on).

We don't know enough about this story to assume that Eddie is ONLY angry with Peter.

At this point, we know Eddie is a driven, angry, cheat. This is BEFORE he knows who Peter is. No one simply becomes that way due to one interaction or relationship.

And its been explained that in this film, Brock is very much the ANTI-Peter. Peter minus the loving home and supportive parents. So Brock's problems came long before Peter. It's simply his conflict with Peter that pushes him OVER the edge. Just as for example- Doc Ock had issues long before the nuclear blast. But it was the blast and his battles with spider-Man that made him Dr. Octopus.

That's true. And all of the villains so far have been conflicted in some way.

Oh, I'm not saying it's definitely only Peter he hates. I'm just saying I don't think he'll hate Gwen enough to try and kill her, that's all.

Yes, but it's probably Peter who exposes his fake photos and whatever else he lies about in the Bugle. Most likely leading him to be fired by Jonah Jameson, who makes Brock's name mud in the newspaper business.

Yes, that's all true, except I thought it was just the nuclear blast that made Octavius into Dr Octopus. After all, he was up to no good when he and Spider-Man first met. So he was already there.

I can't wait until we all finally see the damn movie, so it can put an end to this speculation jazz. :o

I always thougt it was the fact that the chip thingy broke that made him evil.

its peter, but sandman isnt punching its harry during the airial battle. sandman was just spliced into the trailer.

exactly, brock is driven with anger in whih some of it was caused by his bad childhood. when brock meets peter and finds out that gwen is falling for peter then brock automatically snaps. the symbiote just makes that worse and turns brock into venom which is full of anger, rage, revenge.

Another point to consider, is that Eddie would bring Gwen there to:

1. Show her the new improved Eddie Brock.
2. Have her see him kill Spidey/Peter.
3. Then when things go wrong and she isn't "impressed". He takes it as another rejection and decides to kill her.

Very true as well. The Symbiote makes Eddie that much worse so his actions would be even more depraved than if he were normal.

:whatever: :whatever: :whatever:
LOL! Yall talk about Venom being a 15 minute character, well Gwen gets less than that. She is to insignificant to play a major part in the battle royale. She an introduction.

So why are talking like you know, as if you've seen the movie.

OMG! You are full of assumptions. Where do you see Eddie so pist at Gwen to want to drop her off a crane, 30 stories high, into a pile of pipes, and killing her. Where? We don't even see Eddie being angry, more of him being an a$$. He is not that angry to want to murder a girl he love and we don't know if she is even in that battle royale scene, which I sure thinks she not.

As for cheapening Brock- Please. The comic character was sent into a murderous rage because he got fired. Raimi is at least adding dimension to him by making his rage at Peter about more than his job.
His job seems to be the reason why he dislike Peter. Every scene or set photos we've seen to this point of Eddie Brock, has had something to do with Peter and Spiderman... very very little of Gwen.

But- When you've got an attitude like Brock (He lies, doctors photos about Spidey etc.) you're not going to only harbor anger toward one person. Guys like Brock hate the world, and everyone who crosses them.
That still has nothing to do with Eddie kidnapping Gwen, which I say DOES NOT HAPPEN.

I always thougt it was the fact that the chip thingy broke that made him evil.

And what broke the inhibitor chip, which allowed the A.I. to influence Octavius' mind?? :cwink:

And Rated-X, why are you getting so angry over this?? Calm down.

Dude, take a chill pill. Jeeze. And Eddie isn't angry enough at Gwen, but Venom is a monster, and it is probabaly him that wants to kill Gwen.

Hmm, possibly. That could work.

It seems to me Venom goes straight after MJ waiting for Peter to show.

I'm sorta with Doc Ock on this one...

Yeah, Raimi will try to flesh out Eddie some more, but I think he can still do that AND have Brock put all his anger on Peter. The man clearly harbors nasty feelings towards Peter by the time of the church scene ("Please, god, kill Peter, etc"). That's a pretty extreme prayer. And this is probably after Peter's been flirting with Gwen under the influence of the suit (since at this point Peter is ripping it off in the rafters) - so he's already targeting Peter (unless there's a "PS - kill Gwen too" at the end of his plea).

It seems to me Venom goes straight after MJ waiting for Peter to show.
I can see this.

Or maybe it's a "you take my girlfriend away, I'll take yours" sorta deal.
