Asian looking Kitana is looking mighty fine. ;)

want to see her official gameplay trailer. hope we get that soon.

Hot Cassie and Hot Kitana could be enough to get me to reconsider preordering this game. ( yes, I am simple minded. :o )

Here’s the live action footage used to animate the original Mortal Kombat

The original Mortal Kombat was notable not only for its violence, but also its use of digitised live actors to represent all the game’s characters. The uppercut and air kick animations are some of the most memorable bits in fighting game history, even if some of those characters are bolstered palette swaps. Midway saved the footage used to create those characters, and yes, it’s just as terrific as you’d expect.Read more

This footage has been on the internet for ages now, but as we come upon the release of Mortal Kombat 11 the clips have made the rounds again, thanks to a gallery of GIFs that recently got posted to Reddit. If you want the highlights, that gallery is a good place to start – some of the highlights include Sonya’s uppercut and Johnny Cage’s low blow.

My favourite, though, is Kano’s dropkick, which features actor Richard Divizio perched on top of a small staircase and tumbling over. I can’t help but hope that this somehow gets referenced in MK11 – and given NetherRealm’s penchant for in-jokes and easter eggs, it easily could be.

You can see that beautiful Kano footage in full below.

The other motion capture sessions are spread out all over the internet, so for your convenience, here are Raiden, Liu Kang, Scorpion, Johnny Cage, and Sonya Blade.

The Mortal Kombat 11 roster is looking fancier than ever, which is surely a good thing – even if we don’t get the 90s charm of digitised actors and exploding rib cages anymore.

I digitally pre-ordered the game and preinstalled a file but no Shao Khan yet. Do I get him after installing the full game or what?

probably won't be available to download until release day.

The level of covering up on the women are getting compared to the male characters is not only noticeable, but it's bordering on being inadvertently sexist.

There's complaints either way it seems. Just customize them how you want now and da da

As long as they've got Klassic Costume options it's not a big deal, but the message being sent here in all of this footage so far is that the women have to cover up, which is not a good message to be sending, inadvertent or not. I can barely even tell what D'Vorah looks like in that image because she's wearing this ridiculously big coat.

Well, was that disgusting. I'm not looking forward to facing D'Vorah.
Considering what she did in the previous game, the comics and this one, she has become quite a powerful character.

Is Kitana that lame that they have to constantlh give her other characters moves? First she took Mileena's moves in MK vs DC, then she takes Jade's in MKX, now she steals Mileena's weapon and teleport (again!)! Wtf!! If Mileena isn't in this game but the likes of Dvorah, Jacqui, Cassie...etc are then I'm skipping this entry!

The disrespect!

And here I am being happy that the women actually are getting well made costumes like the guys.

I don't get why female characters not fighting in bikinis is such a controversy. Its a fighting game about gore and cool moves and this game looks really good but certain people just can't stop *****ing about what the women are wearing. Is that really what Mortal Kombat is all about to some folks? Women being half naked? The game looks as bloody and gory as it ever has and in no way looks sanitized to appeal to "those pesky SJWs" aside from the women not wearing swimsuits the entire game, which is ridiculous to be focusing on. Who really cares?

The people who want to dress the characters they way they want. Seriously, if you've got the option to dress the characters how you please, which this game will have, and you're not allowed to dress the female characters similar to how they looked in past games, more specifically the Klassic Costumes of MK 1-3, then you are effectively saying to male and female gamers they can only dress the female characters a certain way. That is not a good message to be sending. You can't on one hand have shirtless and pants-less guys as an option and not give the choice to put a female character in a skirt or leotard or have them show a little bit of leg. That's not only an absurd double standard, you're sending the message that women have to cover up. It's not giving people, especially female gamers, the option to dress their characters how they please, and that is not right by any means.

How do you know there's no option for sexy customization?

I don't. I'm looking only at the footage released so far. If it's included it's not an issue, but there doesn't seem to be much customisation so far as I can tell where you can create klassic looking costumes with the girls like you can with the guys.

It's no big deal really, unless you're a basement dweller and the closest you're ever going to get to a pair of boobs is through a virtual character. :p

In all seriousness though, I don't get the concept of it either. It's a fighting game, as you've said; it's about kicking ass and, breaking bones and ripping people apart. Why do female characters need a revealing outfit again? Oh that's right they don't. Such costumes don't realistically have any business in these games, nor any other. If people (anyone) is that invested in such material, there are other corners of the internet that'll suit better than a fighting game.

I honestly don't get what people have against sexy characters in fiction these days. You can't white knight a bunch of pixels. lol.

I'm just saddened that nobody seems to appreciate that Netherrealm Studios has come full circle. The series started out using scans of real life people as 2D sprites, and now decades later, they have technology advanced enough that they can once more use scans of real life people, but now as 3D models.

And all I see is people complaining about breast size, that the women don't dress skimpy enough and that they don't want realism in their fighting games. It's like nobody even remembers Mortal Kombat's history anymore.

I just don't get the fuss about not caring about something you care about. I try to be a bit more 'each to their own'.

Also, I don't look at the models and marvel at the progress supposedly made. Partly because I don't perceive such a great leap, but I do see some weird looking faces. I'm more interested in the cool designs of Noob Saibot's armour or what I think is a better update to Kano's MK3 costume than MKX's version.
