Let's take that one step further, Cyke-unlike Luke & Jessica, he'd been accepted into the Avengers before. Twice.

Precisely. Jessica's only been at best an ally of theirs before now. But because Bendis can only write Ultimate Spider-Man and New Avengers is the number one book, all the other interpretations of Spider-Man have sunk to the "newbie" depths.

And that's almost as terrible as Lex Luthor stealing 40 cakes.

One of my biggest problems w/the suddenly-defensible Clone Saga was the fact that it made Spider-Man, the premier character of Marveldom, a rookie hero. This has pretty much done the same thing. All of his years of experience, triumph & tragedy is nullified over the course of 2 years.

You take everything too personally.
Doesn't he? This is not the place to be overly sensitive, ESPECIALLY if you're going to be defending the minority opinion.

Not overly sensitive. Some people take their opinions of things too far and seriously think that because it's a popular opinion, at least around here, that it MUST be fact.

But, remember, I'm not a REAL Spider-Man fan. I'm a fake Spider-Man fan who's a chump and sucks Joe Quesada's nipples on a daily basis. :whatever:

*SIGH*
While some do take such extreme positions, not all of us do. Pay attention here-this is going to be a bit of a shock. I can honestly say, with no ironic intent, that I have a great deal of respect for you. Why? Because you stick to your guns. No matter how wholeheartedly I disagree with your opinion, I like that you can stand your ground in the face of all the controversy. That's impressive. Without free-thinkers like you the world would go to $h!t rapidly (kinda like it's in danger of doing now.) So don't blow that by taking the Eric Cartman "Screw you guys-I'm going home" position. Accept that we don't see Spider-Man the way you do & continue to debate with us anyway. Don't make me reveal more potentially embarrassing things about myself just to get you to lighten up.
And some of us aren't taking the "anti" approach because it's more popular; simply because we believe it's right.

Word. (hahah I think it’s SIAT who thinks I am uncool when I say that)

Anyway SIAT I don't think you are a chump it was just a figure of speech.
I know you are a real SM fan, so lets play nice and hold hands huh? heheheh

Personally I don give a f**k about popular opinion I just go w/ what I believe to be the truth about SM, and how I see the character (For example- I think USM sucks s-hit and I can‘t stand it).
If my opinion was in the minority like yours I'd still stick to my guns.

i think its just because hes the youngest on the team... to be honest

Still no reason for him to come across as-or be treated like-a rookie.

no one is treating him like one besides himself.. hes not use to being a team player so he for some reason seems to think hes not confident enough

But he's worked with them before!
Truth be told, though, he's done it before; in the presence of Cap, & sometimes Wolverine, all that knowledge & confidence seems to just disappear.

i think its becase rather then joining them.. hes a part of them.. and i think he honestly intimidates him..

Okay, here's a link to the cover:
http://www.marvel.com/comics/onsale...mics/onsale/covers/0906/SPIDERMAN_Special.jpg

The story takes place after the events in Marvel Knights: Spider-Man, and involves Peter having nightmares about being overwhelmed by his foes. Aunt May tells him that he should tell everyone who he is. He makes a deal with JJJ to reveal his identity in exchange for an exclusive interview which Spider-Man will write, and which will NOT be editted in any way.

The ending is truly beautiful, and it's really how the unmasking should've taken place, IMHO. The artwork's decent as well.
I picked it up yesterday & you're right; it's the only way the unmasking should've been done. I could have accepted that. I would've been happy with that. Because it takes Spider-Man back to what he was always supposed to be; the everyman.

Exactly. He remained the "everyman" while unmasking himself in front of the Daily Bugle...something he couldn't do while being a glory-hound on national television.
"Soak it up, Peter, you're bigger than Elvis."

I can't relate to that guy.

And he gained the respect & support of the people without compromising himself.
In a way it kinda reminded me of everybody rallying behind him in the first movie. They had his back b/c despite what they'd read about him, they could see him for what he truly was.
Plus in Black & Blue, JJJ couldn't sue him.

Also, we didn't have to dread the impending year or two worth of "my villians know who I am and they are coming after Mary Jane and Aunt May to get to me ah-ho" storylines....which is what is happening now.:cmad:

Although I wonder if I would've liked it as much without the dreadful "Iron Sidekick" to compare it to.

that is a fine post, and I agree with the spirit of it. I do sometimes wonder if those who stick to their guns in the face of the most obvious evidence are indeed "free thinkers" or people who have been so indoctrinated that they can't see the forest for the trees.
Now Spider-in a tree, take it easy I'm not talking about you specifically here.
I'm talking about spider-boy :woot: :oldrazz:
but seriously, free thinking IMO includes the consideration of opposing view, re-evaluation of one's opinion and the formation of conclusion based on evidence, fact, common sense, and opinion..
it just seems to me that too many people argue in the face of the facts.

case in point, it is a factual mistake to treat SM as a noob in the Avengers, given the fact the he's the flagship premier hero of the MU, he;s worked with them numerous times, was in fact THE one to save the day and come through when fighting along side them in the past, has been doing this as long if not longer than most everyone else, etc. etc.

You may LIKE this treatment but to argue that it is accurate or to defend it it simply wrong...IMO./
