I knew Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Phantom Menace would suck before I saw them, but nothing dashed my hopes more than Iron-Man 3 (why isn't that on there?), which started off with a really cool premise and villain and just became terrible after the infamous twist halfway.

You forgot these 2 terrible missed oportunities

The twist was kinda smart actually. And that film was incredibly entertaining.

I'd say the Alien vs Predator movies. The comics and games were very cool and lots of fun and the movies just ruined everything.

It's Episode I without a doubt.

Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace - Yeah this was never going to live up to the hype, no movie could ever live with that sort of weight of history on its shoulders. I actually prefer this to the other prequals, the final lightsaber fight, pod-race were decent at least but yeah always going to be dissapointing.

The Lost World: Jurassic Park - Never cared much for these films, dinos in movies dont really do it for me.

The Godfather Part 3 - Didn't get a chance to see it.

Spider-Man 3 - Should have been so so much better after all the hard work done in the first two, a massive dissapointment which clearly had troubles due to studio tampering.

X-Men: The Last Stand - Much like S3 it had a troubled life, Singer leaving the directors chair started alarm bells straight away and then casting people like Vinnie Jones only rammed home the conclusion this would be a mess which it eventually was. Again should have been so much better.

Tron: Legacy - Anything had to be better than the laughably bad original film. Legacy wasnt great other than in the looks department but looked like an improvement to me. Guess I'm not the best to judge on this one.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull- Looked and felt like a cash grab, they never had a decent story in the first place it seems.

Godzilla (1998) - Was never into Godzilla so never expected much from it anyway and was pretty dull.

Its a toss up between S3 and X3 I guess for me both had the chance to close out a great trilogy but instead they fumbled with the endzone in sight. I think I shall go with X3 just because someone thought this was a good idea:

PS: Can I give an honorable mention to The Matrix Revolutions for being a total let down as well and should be on the list.

I voted Menace Phantom.
The hype was just too big, the wait too long and the final result too disappointing.

If this poll was created yesterday, then I see no reason why TASM 2 shouldn't be on there. That's what would get my vote for sure. Otherwise, I'd have to say SM3, X-Men, and Godzilla in that order. I was never much of a fan of most of the other properties, so I can't really say that they disappointed me, outside of time and money wasted. Seen them all though, and was mostly indifferent.

Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace - It's still my favorite out of the prequels.

The Lost World: Jurassic Park - I feel this movie has a lot in common with Ghostbusters II. Both follow up amazing movies, but neither are "disappointing". Anyone really disappointed in this movie had their expectations set way too high.

The Godfather Part 3 - I've never seen any of this series.

Spider-Man 3 - It's slightly more corny than the series had been up to this point. Otherwise, I like it. Also, Venom got exactly what the character deserves. That's off-topic, but I feel compelled to remind people of that.

X-Men: The Last Stand - Probably the only movie on this list that I was disappointed in. Still stands as the first movie I've almost walked out on. There are still positive points to this movie, and I'm not much of an X-fan, so my disappointment is fairly low.

Tron: Legacy - See Godfather 3

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull- I like this movie. It fits well with the rest of the series, and people just like to ***** about it.

Godzilla (1998) - It's not a Godzilla movie, but it's still a fun monster movie.

The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King was disappointing to me.

The new trendy thing is to hate on the Amazing Spider-Man movies. It's cool to hate them I've noticed. Besides one is too new to be on the list and the other is literally still in the theater and still gathering reviews.

I'd say the Alien vs Predator movies. The comics and games were very cool and lots of fun and the movies just ruined everything.
Alien vs Predator 2 is personally the most hated movie in a franchise I once enjoyed and one of the most hated movies I've ever seen overall. Disappointing is an understatement and I knew it wouldn't be as good as either of the original franchises but I was sure it would be better than the first AVP.

I was of course wrong.

But it isn't on this list so I went with Spider-Man 3. It felt like it had the biggest drop to me. The Phantom Menace would have taken that spot but if you remove Jar Jar and a few other troubling scenes the movie is fine.

I'd rather watch avp2 than asm2. The former knows what it is: a monster porn.

I'll have to disagree with you there. Jake Lloyd is probably the worst child actor to ever grace the silver-screen. Remember his canned lines and cheering when he went into space and shot ships down? Ugh. Seriously, I know kids aren't supposed to be great actors, but this came out at the same time Haley Joel Osment was wowing everyone in 'The Sixth Sense.' But beyond even JarJar and Jake, it was just an unengaging story about trade issues. It's like Lucas was schizophrenic; he would pander to kids one minute with juvenile fart humor, and the next minute it was like watching intergalactic C-SPAN.
It also meandered when it decided to go off on a tangent and try to scientifically explain how the "force" works. And the climatic CGI robot battle with those cartoony force-field bubbles or whatever… guh. I'll take clay-motion and costumes over late 90's CGI any day.

Yeah, as you can tell… I'm not a fan. The Darth Maul fight was great, I'll give it that. But that was really the only thing I liked.

Fyi, the midichlorions are from the expanded universe, the same EU that fans are sad to see dead.

I may be remembering the better scenes more prominently than the rest of the movie. Jake Lloyd's scenes aren't all terrible but I was also forgetting how much was political theater (literally in this case).

I still have to agree with Kane52630 on that ending though. It helps make up for the rest of the movie. If it were recut I think it could be a decent though not great movie.

I'm only sad to see parts of the EU dead. Thrawn and Zahn's work in general and a handful of other authors had some great stories in it. That's mostly in the old, old EU stuff however. The rest they can scrap.

The midichlorions showed up in tge early EU, kevin j anderson came up with the concept, in around 1994 or so.

Notice how I said handful of good authors? Anderson wasn't one of them. :o

Spider-Man 1, Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3. they make me wanna punch someone. they make me wanna be in that Jim Carrey movie where he deletes all memory of his ex gf, except I would delete the memory of watching that pancaked face sorry excuse for an actor playing my favourite superhero. never have I ever hated a movie protagonist that much. and the worst part is the fact that I'm a fan of Spider-Man as a character, because if I wasn't then I would probably find those movies to be so bad they're good and I would laugh my ass of at the bad acting, corny dialogue, pathetic attempts at humour etc. but unfortunately I can't.

oh, and The Dark Knight Rises. poor Tom Hardy and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. their performances deserved to be in a better movie.

:whatever:

But of course. That just has to be it. Nothing less than superlative creativity from that franchise. The things people tell themselves to feel comfortable in their own skin...

From your list Godfather Part 3 after the awesomeness of the first two films that was a huge step down.

As for ASM 1 I enjoyed seeing the Lizard in action but I am so friggin tired of origin movies.
