OK, i thinkit's pretty well established that TDK is one of those films, like Raiders, like Star Wars, like Titanic, that is part of the general cultural consciousness now.

So based on that what is TDK's boulder scene/"Here's Johnny!"/Helm's Depp. What is the one shot of the film that people will recongnise/spoof and reference from now on?

Joker in Police Car In my opinion. Just an awesomely simple shot, yet brilliantly strange -sums up the whole movie in one image

This one is my favourite, and I think it's the most iconic shot of the Joker.

Joker burning the cash.

Batman running and stumbling between the shipping crates. Or the Batpod shot at the end of the film.

When Batman's on the bat-pod twisting as the Joker turns back.

The last shot of Batman on the BatPod riding off into the light before the credits.

Does anyone have a picture of that???

Batman standing on the rubble at 250 52nd st.

This is a hard one to answer. While I'd really like to nominate a joker still, the one above sums up the entire movie. Batman alone, standing above the rubble and destruction caused by the Joker feeling the pain and agony of losing his best friend/love of his life.

Joker on the street in the "Hit me" scene, and Joker sitting in the jail cell.

I think the truck flipping and Joker sticking his head out of the car are gonna be the two images most iconic from this film.

For me personally it's three batman shots (standing on top of the sears tower, standing in the rubble of rachel's death spot, and the final shot) that will make me remember this film more than others.

This is why an "other" option should be mandatory for all polls. There are at least five or six significantly better "iconic shots" from the film -- most in previous posts -- that are missing from the poll.

I would have voted for the shot of Batman standing on the explosion site where Rachel died.

qft.

This video, profiling the movies of 2008, has some good shots of TDK that could be iconic. Imagining the images in a commercial of TCM's 31 days of oscar is awesome.

By the way, Batman landing on the van is an image I see used in a lot of commercials, including the last image of a blu ray commercial. That's a pretty good one.

Eloquent explanation FTW. It does sum up the entire movie in a single shot.

If we're talking ICONIC, then I guess I also vote for Joker in the cop car. It plays very quickly in the trailers, but in the film, the shot is held for an unusually long time (for the film's rhythm, at least) and the exposure is long enough for Joker to blur slightly. It's simply haunting.

Two of my favorite shots.

The first shot was damn hard to see on my parents' TV. Could barely make out Batman.

The second shot proves that Batman didn't believe Joker's threat about the bridges. :funny:

For me it's either standing over the rubble or the shot when he's gliding over Hong Kong.
