Movies considered "classics" that aren't that great

Double that and you're one year older than me. Jesus I am old.

Napoleon Dynamite is considered a cult classic now.

I didn't even smile once during the movie. I like to think I have a great sense of humor...I make people laugh all the time. =)

But I honestly didn't find the movie funny...it was like they just took random sentences, threw them into the movie and said "ok, laugh at those"
I saw that for the first time yesterday on Comedy Central.
I watched about 30 minutes, got bored, then changed the channel.
It's just not funny.

I wouldn't consider it a classic as it is only a friggin year old. But that's the MTV generation for ya. :grumble:

Again I agree.

It's one thing to be ignorant and not know, but it is entirely another to choose to be stupid, or in other words to remain ignorant. Don't be so myopic. You do know that the movie gods weren't waiting up in heaven for you to be born before they bestowed us with good movies.
Well I have seen Psycho and Three Stooges shorts......

.....and of course the 1966 Batman movie. :woot: :woot:

napolean dynamite was horrible i have no idea why it was so popular

I wonder why?

Waitaminute. Jackson wanted to play a school head master. The leader of children. One with a slightly sick affection for one of his pupils.

If thats not him mocking the US legal system, I don't know what is.

Hey, Six. I didn't know you were still around. It's been a good long while since I last saw you.
Oh I never went away, it's just as years have passed and there are more and more people on here I don't have time to go through every post like years ago, so I only check out the threadsthat catch my eye.

The affection Xavier had for Jean is:

A) Of the wrong sex for Mr. Jackson. If it was an affection of love for Cyclops sure. Unless Jackson is some of his wickedly sicko ways read the relationship between Scott and Charles wrong.

B) The Jean affection went absolutely no where.

the godfather 2, and godfather 3 mwhahaha!!!

Isn't it common knowledge that the Godfather Part III is crap?

rocky was pretty boring, i dont like sport films, though that one where rocky fought on the moon was pretty neat

I did the exact same thing the other day.:woot:

Psycho
The Birds
Once Upon A Time in The West
Once Upon A Time in America

I value your opinion, I don't mean this to come off as an elitist point of view but it's how it goes on a message board, there are people who's opinions you value and others you completely ignore, I'm sure plenty of people ignore mine, and others value it... So anyway I value your opinion so before I make a post like, "My respect for you has fallen." (Yeah I'm looking at you ANTHONYNASTI, I see potential in you to be a great poster, remember the golden rule only be snobby to the ignorant because no one cares about them :D) I can agree with the Birds, however Sergio Leone is so amazing how can you find his films over-rated? Once Upon Time in America feels choppy even at 4 hours, because it originally was a 10 hour film, then it was cut to 6 hours and finally to 4, and then WB cut it down to two hours. Even at 4 hours Leone said he felt it wasn't complete, so depending on which version you watch could influence your opinion, I saw the 4 hour version, I liked it but I felt I wish I Saw the 6 hour version, which I don't believe is in exisitence.

Of all four movies I listed I can respect the filmmakers behind them and the technical aspect.
I really like Hitchcock but mainly because I read alot of spoilers on the internet for the movie Psycho it wasn't exciting for me. I knew all the twists so I couldn't get into it.

I watched about forty minutes of The Birds but I got so annoyed by the leading characters and it was so slow and boring I just had to turn it off.

Once Upon A Time in The West has three or four brilliant scenes but I don't like the actors and it was just too long. It didn't keep my interest.

I thought Once Upon A Time in America was too long aswell. Plus I didn't have any sympathy for the main characters. It had too many sexual scenes too. Usually that doesn't really bother me but it got really, really tiresome in this one.

Sorry, forgot that rule.

I agree that The Birds is a bit one-dimensional, but the way the tension builds up is incredible. Sorry if came off as snobby, but I don't see how anyone can't like Pyscho. As far as thriller go, it truly set the standard in terms of plot, character devleopment and the building of tension. It goes inside the head of the antagonist like no other film.

As for OUATIA, it's a little long but I love it. The way the relationship between Woods and De Niro unfolds is incredibly well conceived.
