Movies considered "classics" that aren't that great

There are a lot of pretentious asses in this topic, who are quick to act like they are superior to everyone else because they like old movies.

A lot of films made before the 80's, I just can't stand. I hate the style, I hate the pace, the effects, the acting, the fashion. But I do respect them. I don't HAVE to like them. They'll still be classics without my approval.

I totally desagree that moviees like king kong, doctor strangelove, casablanca, 2001 , gone with the wind or some of the others named are not great. They are amazing, and they are classics not only for being old, but for being amazing movies.

Also, to say that one person doesnt want to watch cinema before his birth dave is one of the most ridiculous postings that i have never seen.

I think he said he doesn't like, not that he doesn't watch.

And that it why you will remain ignorant to the art of film making. Goodbye.

Oh, **** off. I just said I don't like them. They're not from my generation. But I still RESPECT them. That's all that matters. Don't ****ing write me off because I don't agree with you.

I'm sorry I don't share your holier than thou opinion, jackass. Now go enjoy the movies you like, and i'll go and enjoy mine.

Dwarf Lord FTW.

Thank You, Anthony. Judging by the reaction of Mr. LordJK, I doubt he'll be around much longer. If he couldn't take my comments, I believe be downright shocked after meeting some people.

I dislike Taxi Driver as well, because it effectively does what it sets out to do. De Niro made me feel physically ill when I saw it. Travis Bickle is a poster for everything that was going wrong with that humanity at that time and nothing can stop him. To me, it was sickening and depressing.

But the movie I dislike the most that others love (and I haven't seen it mentioned in here yet) is Bladerunner. Yes it is beautifully shot. Yes, Rutger Hauer is amazing...but the plot is all over the place, the pacing is erratic and personally I just find the movie plain boring. That was always how I felt about the theatrical cut. For years people told me the director's cut was better, so last week I gave it a go. It wasn't different enough for me at all. The dream sequence that makes the ending so loose, and the voice over was missing, and I was the only person on the planet it seems that liked the voice over!......

Hey, Six. I didn't know you were still around. It's been a good long while since I last saw you.

So you are just intolerant of other peoples opinions, then

Sorry dude, but you are wrong about this issue. The intolerant part is to post that i cant stand any movie before my birth date. And that is the argument taht is intolerant, because he doesnt like any movie before his birth date for being old, not for being bad in his point of view.

Oh, I agree. Ignorance seems all too abundant these days.

You do realise that you are talking about PEOPLE, not some crap on the bottom of your shoe.

Elitist *******. I can't stand people like you.

you are judging the movie or the cinema by its date, and that is pretty wrong , lordjk.

It's not a new thing. It comes with newbies. Heck, you should read some of my old posts (That wasn't an invitation). What makes the growth from newbie to oldbie is they learn to take the ribbing and insults to the point where they become the ones making the insults.

I'm not, I just dislike the style of movies before the 80's. I don't avoid them. I do like a few movies made before that time, such as One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, Superman: The Movie, Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory, in fact there are quite a few.

It's just not my cup of tea.

Unfortunately a few elitist pricks can't seem to accept that :o

And your existence is a testament to that.

Calling me ignorant because I don't like something.. what the hell is wrong with you.

Wouldn't you be the ignorant one for not watching movies before you were born? He's not ignorant for calling you out on it.

Welcome to the internet. Elitism is the main form of communication. If you can't handle that, then you're not going to make it here.

I didn't say I don't watch movies from before I was born. I just said I don't like the style of movies before the 80's (I was born in 1990), and I still RESPECT them, and I do like a few movies from that time period.

I think i'll pass on acting like an *******.

Again, you been spoiled by video games and MTV
But what if someone dosn't watch MTV or play video games? I don't do either (I will rarely play video games) and I still don't care for 2001 which I've seen many times. It dosn't bother me if a movie is long, as long as it leads up to something meaningful and worth the wait which I felt the ending of 2001 didn't. But thats just my opinion.
