Movies That Can Help Redeem The DCEU

Yeah the DCEU got rid of Snyder as a whole so that is a start and now as long as they go after directors with vision similar to Jenkins in style then the DCEU will be just fine. Go after writers who are faithful to the comics for the movies and we can recover.

How much of an uphill battle will it actually be though? Honest question because I think it'd be an interesting discussion. I understand that the brand has been damaged, but I think Wonder Woman proved that a good movie can and will turn that negativity around. That movie had legs because people kept saying "no guys, it's good! Go see it!" and that is why it is now the exception to the rule in your post.

The DC stable is the most iconic superhero brand with engrained fans around the world ready to throw gobs of money at a good movie, so I think the uphill battle isn't as steep as some would expect.

I think Aquaman and Shazam have a good chance at performing well - granted I can take that prediction back given a lackluster teaser, but at the moment I'm optimistic for both.

Wonder woman was the only well received movie out of 5 films. JL the last of the 5 was the least performing film. That to me is a huge statement made by the general audience. MOS out grossed JL.

BVS grossed quite a bit. More than WW at the worldwide box office but it was also the second movie released, the damage hasn't been done yet. Now, If BVS released now after JL would it still gross over 800 mill? Also did JL help market Aquaman?

He's one of the producers for Aquaman and Wonder Woman 2. He's still associated with the DCEU, he's just not directing anything. I think his next project is The Last Photograph.

I wonder how 'hands on' he'll be.

Jon Peters was a "producer" for Man of Steel. He wasn't even allowed on set.

Jon Peters was an Executive Producer for MoS.

Hardly the same situation, Snyder is the Producer for WW 2 and EP for Aquaman. Snyder has good relations with other directors but he wouldn't interfere with their work.

Blue Beetle can be like the DC equivalent of Ant Man in a sense but then if you also introduce other heroes in the DCEU such as Booster Gold, Hawkgirl, Martian Manhunter, Green Arrow & Black Canary and Supergirl gradually but also building them up over time then faith can be restored within the DCEU. All it would take is patience and time of course.

Really want to see Supergirl make her DCEU debut. Also, I kinda fell in love with Hawkgirl in JL/JLU - I'm really hoping she turns up at some point.

I'm pretty sure the producer credit is just WB saving face. All the reports that've come out have said they wanted him gone after BVS and that he was only kept on to finish the movie on time, so this was probably a way to get rid of him without the PR issue of looking like they fired him.

I think so too. I pretty much expected it once JL was done.

I still think a well-received Superman movie would be a big boost for the DC brand as a whole. Having one of your big hitters being an anchor dragging you down doesn't help.

Yeah I think a successful Superman relaunch would go a long way to changing people's opinions about the series.

Also introducing new characters too well heroes who we haven't seen yet into the DCEU would also redeem this universe as a whole as well

It's a shame what's happened to the DCEU.

I like the DCEU more than some do, but some of WB/DC's 'creative decisions' have left me scratching my head. Obviously in business you keep an eye on the competition, but they really should have had their own vision and carved their own path. I think it's possible for them to pull it back, but whether they will or not is another matter. As for upcoming films, I'm looking forward to WW2 and the solo Batman movie (whenever it comes), and the news about New Gods is really exciting - if it comes off. The rest are going to have to convince me.

Too bad that's a mathematical impossibility. there are too many differing opinions on what superman should be, that good movie or not there won't be enough positive word of mouth.

Well considering Aquaman is the next film in our universe as far as the DCEU goes if it is a decent film or at least is a great solo film introduction for Arthur as far as solo standalone outings go then it would go a long way as far as redeeming the DCEU.

Sorry, can’t agree with this at all. You’re talking about the hardcore fans here, not the general audience. A Superman film that draws on the classic interpretations of the character’s personality, but updates him sufficiently to the 21st Century would be a surefire hit, especially in today’s social climate.

A Superman who fights for truth and justice in a Trump-led world would go down an absolute storm. Sell him as what he is - not some bull**** Christ parallel - but as the ultimate immigrant, whose moral compass and strength of will are absolute... and you make a billion dollars. Actually give the people someone to look up to, and they would indeed join him in the sun.

Shazam film if they can truly make it a family film in the sense of having it appeal to both kids and adults as far as superhero films go then I think it could redeem the DCEU. Considering Billy Batson is a kid whose powers turn him into a fully grown adult superhero they can also make this into a comedy but also add the action part of it to the film then yeah it can really help this film rather than hurt it.

I think Shazam can definitely have that family appeal. It's one of the upcoming DCEU films I'm least interested in but I think it will be good for the DCEU as a whole. A kid who can become an adult superhero with powers on a par with those of Superman? That's pretty much every kid's dream right there.

And if Henry is supposed to be in this Shazam film in a cameo capacity then he can do what Robert Downey Jr. did for Spider Man Homecoming be that mentor for Billy like how Tony was for Peter

Oh absolutely.

The ultimate debate is if he's a Moses allegory or a Christ allegory.
