One thing I never understood was changing the oval buckle to this ugly rectangle shape. The oval felt like a nice callback to the Reeve suit and it looked great. Then they went and did this for some inexplicable reason. Its nitpicky, I know, but I don’t like this buckle.

Zack Snyder: It's supposed to reflect Superman's growth as a hero and a person. The darker colors signify the dark path he's forced to take which is kill Batman. The square buckle shows he now has an edge as before he had a more soft, round naivete.

Actually, it does have a curve. Seriously.
Enlarge it and lay a straight object on it.
The edge curves away.
I'm Not saying it's a legit pic, but it does have a Slight curve.

I think I would prefer the yellow fill being reversed. Where the S is gold, not the negative space, or whatever you would call it. I would even prefer a completely filled shield.
