Since he has a FOS, I'm gonna bet that's where it comes from.

I thinks the same suit. I used to think there's were multiples in the movie, but the angles make all the difference with this one.

I'm with you I think it's the same suit the only reason it looks different it because of the angle in which it's been shot. The material of the suit seems to have leather/rubber like quality to it which can also sort of distort & change the shape of things like the logo because it bunches up & stretches depending on what he's doing.

Of the example given, he's handcuffed (again :argh:) behind his back which is pulling the logo & cape attachments further apart making it look different.

I really do hope that they'll explain later on why Superman wears at least two slightly different costumes in this film (Different Necklines, Different Symbols). There's no way that this was an accident in the wardrobe department.
Why would they need to explain?? It's probably production reasons and not story reasons that there are supposedly two slightly different suits; that hardly anyone will notice.

Speaking of, David talks about the suit in GQ's interview:

Gunn has spoken a lot about having to find a reason to believe in what he's putting on screen like the glasses and the trunks. So realistically I think the suit has to come from the fortress.

It's not just angles. We have some pretty spot on shots confirming the differences. Also some from the production confirmed on social media that there are different versions of the suit in the film. They couldn't go into all of the details, but it sounds like the suit had to be tweaked a lot given Corenswet's changing physique during pre-production. It looks like the previous version of the suit is mainly repurposed as the damaged versions in the film.

I have a vague recollection about something similar coming out about there being several different versions of Pattinson's suit in Batman, which in turn sent people into a tailspin that he'd have multiple costume changes/tweaks/upgrades throughout.

I figure he has multiple suits in the FOS or the robots can make another if it's needed.
The suit is either indestructible or his "aura" protects it.
It took a full blast close range fire from the kaiju and it just looks dirty/soot covered after, and not really damaged.

Well whatever it is, it's not important to the movie so it's best for people to just drop it now.

I do like that Gunn didn't just recycle Adam Warlock's suit and slapped the :super: and trunks and called it a day.

Concept art i think looks fine without the trunks.

Him in the actual thing without the cape...they were needed

I feel like the dark blues of Cavill and Hoechlin almost ended up being camouflage for the absurdity of going trunkless.

A bright blue without trunks just looks… wrong.

Give him a red belt with a yellow buckle and get rid of that nonsense with the belt loops.

I’d be curious to see what the trunkless version would look like with some tailoring, but even so, I’m sure trunks would be the right move.

Its called a red belt with yellow buckle.

If we must ditch the trunks, I'd rather keep it simple instead of overly design like MOS.

I've never liked the belt-only look, as it's completely superfluous without the trunks. Unlike Batman's utility belt, there's no functional reason for having a belt if there's nothing for it to hold up. At least the Snyder design had an interesting aesthetic purpose, and helped to break up the empty space. The muted colors Snyder favored also helped.

I'm really glad Gunn decided to go with the trunks, though. Superman's probably the only character that can still pull off that look, unless it's a period piece.
