I admit this really has me scratching my head. I mean... what's the point?
It's not like there was a costume change for a sequel with some in-story explanation and the difference between the two costumes is so subtle anyway that I doubt it will ever be seen and thus matter to the plot.

Some ideas? :hmm:

I honestly think it's just a quirk of the material that it warps or shifts or whatever sometimes and looks a bit different based on David's movements, and the fans (as we do) are looking too much into it.

That pic, though.

That's All-Star Superman come to life. Not a 1:1 design, obviously, but it captures the SPIRIT so well. It reminds me of the Kelvin-verse Enterprise-- yes other interpretations of the original Connie may adhere to the actual design more faithfully, but there's something about JJ's that just evokes the spirit of TOS so beautifully.

Same thing here, IMO.

I will say, based on the hair, and David looking a little bulkier (and talking about the costume like it's his first time wearing it), I kinda suspect that particular shot from the featurette of him and Nick is from their camera/costume tests.

It looks like there's blood on the other side of his mouth.

I was thinking that his hair looks somewhat straighter there, but then I recalled seeing it styled nearly identically in the following set photo from Public Square.

If there's one thing I'd change about the suit, it's something that probably very few would agree with-- the cape length. I love me a short cape. Was intro'd to the character by Fleischer then Reeve, and my fave iteration is All-Star. Fleischer and and All-Star in particular have very short capes and it just hits me right in the nostalgia button. I like the more old style, swashbuckly action hero feel to it, rather than being majestic or godlike.

Thank goodness the yellow S is back on it, though.

Yeah, the BTS Look is not helping with my criticism that the suit doesn't look properly fitted. But with more new shots of David moving in it, I can see that the main issue is the material they used. I hope they change/adjust that for any sequels. I just know there are ways to make it look even better.

It sort of reminds me of Cap's suit in Age of Ultron, way too baggy. Hopefully his next outfit will bring the same kind of improvements that the Civil War suit had.

This pretty much confirms that Superman will be wearing two different costumes in the film. Although there isn't a big difference between both costumes, most of the footage that we've seen features Superman wearing a costume that has a more curved neckline and modified 'S' symbol. Personally, I like the latter version more than the one shown above.

You have to remember what Cap wore in the first Avengers.
