The Dark Knight Name the Sequel

for example: Batman: Escalation? Seriously, why are so many people behind that? Not only does it just plain sound corny, but no one's even gonna remember the exact dialog at the end of the first, and therefore will be confused.
yeah I hate that title.

I'd prefer one of these:

Batman: Escalation
Batman: Dark Knight
Batman Rises/Rising

I'm a bit annoyed that Begins followed the same title style that the previous movies. It would have been better if it had a colon in the title to distance itself from the old ones.

And you can't call it Batman 2 either since that indicates that it follows the one from '89. It was annoying enough when everyone said that Begins was a prequel, but it would be worse if they start thinking B'89 fits in between Begins and the new one.

I think Batman 2 is the best way to show that its NOT part of the old series. People will be like "hey, I thought Batman 2 was Batman Returns" NOPE!

Yeah, call it Batman 2, and throw a subtitle on there if ya like. After a while, people will start to get they're a different series... I hope.

All joking aside, with the title style theyve set out for themselves, they'll be treading a fine line between good and corny with whatever they choose.

Batman: Escalation? i'm sorry, but that does strike me as kinda corny.

It's definatley gonna be interesting to see what they come up with.

Batman Verbs is getting so lame.
Numbers are boring (eg, "Batman 2"), subtitles feel so pretentious sometimes (eg, "Batman: Whatever"), and we know they most likely wouldn't release a Batman movie without "Batman" in the title, and seeing as they've already got the "Batman [Verb]" thing going...

yeah like I said before they really shot themselves in the foot with the whole "batman verb" thing. there's just no good ones left. take just this page for example, "batman ascends"? "Batman Rises"? "Batman Crusades"? eh, maybe not. Naming it Batman begins was a total cock-up suquel wise (and also because it links itself unintentionally to the old franchise)

they shoulda just called it Batman

Exactly. How many times have film titles been duplicated over the years, often as remakes but also coincidentally? dozens at least. One thing would've been obvious had they just called it "batman"; that this wasn't a sequel, prequel or in any other way related to the previous franchise. Also this would have left the door open for any number of methods for naming the sequel, with no "batman -verb-" continuity problems, oh well...

Some of the suggested "Batman [Verb]" titles are just as good as "Batman Begins", which is an alright title. Just calling it Batman is kind of uncreative. The titles in a series should at least try to describe something important to the specific story being told. For example, we've got "The Bourne Identity", "The Bourne Supremacy", and in some time we'll get "The Bourne Ultimatum". These titles clearly point out some kind of progress (the progress of a person going from someone who has no clue who he is to being, or "re-being", a very powerful person).

Batman has begun, and now his crusade is 100% on, and he's going to stop at nothing from ridding Gotham of the remaining crime mobs and corruption (both of which are, to Batman's knowledge, the only real threats to Gotham... that is, until "the freaks" start pouring in). I think Crusades is good. Like Begins it tries to summarize the events without being too specific, too generic, or too narrow (compare it to "Batman Attacks", for example).

Add that to the equation and I can blow your eye off.

This movie needs to be called Batman 2 to seperate these movies from the other ones, because alot of people still think it was a prequel to the other ones.

Batman <verbs> is going to get old really quick, so they should cut it out while they can. I really, really wish they would've just called Begins "Batman".
