Namor casting threads (mergedx4) Don't make anymore

Wow. Well it's your opinion, dude. I guess if Christian Bale became a wrestler all his acting talent would be sucked out of him.

No the reverse does not apply. He's already an actor and good at it. Now if an up and coming actor decided to try wrestling...he would by default lose all of his crediblity and acting ability. LOL The Rock is simply a personality. He's not an actor. Schwarzanegger was also a personality however he had charsima and he was likeable which is why all of his films topped the box office with few exceptions. He wasn't ever phony or plastic like Dwayne. The Rock has NOT proven himself a draw at the box office at all. Of course I'm bias because I think Wrestling is a complete joke with a bunch of clowns on steroids running around in tights pretending to hurt each other and they like to yell loud at the camera. The Rock's a good looking guy and he is popular so he'll have no problems getting high profile jobs but he's no actor even though IMDB labels him as one. By the way why does he still call himself The Rock. What an ass. "Don't call me Dwayne! I'm The Rock! Hence I can raise an eyebrow! Fear me!"

No Savage, his talent wouldnt get sucked out of him but that's the thing - Bale doesnt need to do that. That's the whole point. He's a brilliant actor and as such is able to pursue acting as a viable, financially rewarding career, whereas most wrestlers have aspirations of becoming actors but don't have to talent necessary to elevate them out of the wrestling business.

I say most as, for the record, I think the Rock can actually act (every once in a while, there are exceptions to the rule);

I just don't see him as Namor, I'm still going for Somerhalder.

I've seen all of Dwayne's films and I've never seen him act. I guess he showed a little emotion. He was probably thinking back to his previous career to bring out the sadness in that scene.

Didn't think he was too bad in Walking Tall or the Rundown personally, but that's just me..............

Well I'm just going to take that up with your bias against wrestling (even though pretending to hit each other and yell is exactly what action stars do but I won't get into the double standards with that one). Fact is you don't like wrestling, therefor wrestlers cannot act. Gotcha.

That's right. I'm kind of having fun with the whole topic and messin around a bit but honestly he's just a personality. He couldn't carry a drama.

Well the way I see these things, how do you know until you try? About a decade ago I would have laughed at the person that told me Jim Carrey can do drama and thriller movies.

I think that The Rock is a pretty decent actor but needs more experience. Diversify a bit. I've seen all of his movies except The Gridiron Gang and I think that there is some potential there.

And about the name, it's just how the guy is recognized. No-one knows who Dwayne Johnson is (few people anyway) so that's not going to put butts in seats unfortunately.

As for Namor, I used to be a strong backer for this choice but Namor is doesn't have that muscular body anymore. He has more of a swimmer's body going for him so that puts The Rock out.

I'm still laughing at his thriller 23. What a joke. Jim Carey is a certified talent who's been acting for a long time. An actor is an actor. Carrey's Drama's also don't do well at the box office because not very many people want to see a Jim Carrey drama...but that's another topic.

"300" and "Lost"'s Rodrigo Santoro for SUB-MARINER all the way. He's just a bit exotic/alien enough to play him without looking too wierd or gay. With those diva eyebrows that Sub-Mariner has, Rodrigo pulled it off as tough and intimidating in "300," instead of a flamboyant, flaming diva. Isn't his Xerxes character from "300" similar to Sub-Mariner - a half-naked, intimidating, stubbern king?

I can't believe he slipped by me. I had suggested him for Moon Knight but he would be a splendid Sub-Mariner.

The Rock is prince Namor hands down! Some of you guys are so negative in your opinions, the rock totally already looks like Namor and he has the build, and what acting chops do you need to play a guy that lives underwater? Besides that the Rock can act, he's been acting for years, the whole wrestling thing is nothing but acting.

The Rock is absolutely perfect for the part of Prince Namor!

My only problem is his size. He's not exactly the most graceful looking. It can work though. Namor has been drawn buff at times.

Yeah - I made the graceful point a few pages back when someone suggested Batista.

Whoevers is cast has to look like they've swum a few lengths...........

Me either -I can't exactly see him being all that graceful in the water somehow.

No bodybuilders or wrestlers for Namor, please!!! - All the role requires is a good actor who has a decent build already onto which he can pack some quality muscle and yet still look lithe enough to convince the audience that he could actually move through the water faster than a sperm whale.

Not too much to ask is it?

Leonard Nimoy in his Spock garb:wow:
seriously when i was a kid i thought they looked identical

wait arent they making a new Star Trek? whos playing Spock in that?

MEANWHILE: Is Boreanaz starring in "Jurassic Park 4"? It's been reported, but when asked about it, he laughs and says, "That would be nice. I don't know when I would do that, but I believe in the power of belief, so why not?" And as for reports that he'll play Marvel Comics character Namor in a film called "Sub-Mariner," he says, "I haven't tried on the Speedos quite yet. I did do the voice of The Green Lantern, Hal Jordan, for 'Justice League: the New Frontier'" -- the forthcoming animated D.C. Comics film. "That's something I'd really like to go for if they did it as a live action film."

I read it as wanting to play a live action Hal Jordan...Could be about Namor though. I think it is hard to tell in the text here.

What about... Cliff Curtis (The Fountain, Sunshine, Live Free or Die Hard) as Namor?

wait... are we sure hes talking about Sub Mariner there and not the Green Lantern?

That's how I read it but it mentions Namor too so I put it here and in the GL thread. He kind of ducked the issue on Namor like maybe he's really in talks. Who knows.

Nnnnope. Maybe it's a bad picture or something but I am TOTALLY not seeing it...

Michael Keaton. C'mon now as Namor. Get real. Imagine him with his shirt off even 10 years ago. LOL No chance. Namor doesn't look like your average White guy.
