New He-man Movie!!

I havent seen the 2002 version at all. I didnt know there was a new one till I googled there just now.
The "new" one I was referring to was the bad one I posted the pic about.

I'll have to try and catch the new one.
yea but Iam the opposite, I didn't know that the one you post the pic about existed oh man it looks really bad, btw have you readed my post, the long post with the pics of the beautiful misha barton, if not read it and tell me what do you think.

Some cool ideas.
To be honest, I only have vague recollections of He-man from the original cartoon.
When the awful "New Adventures" was released I disregarded He-man and kinda forgot about him. I can remember many of the characters... Duncan, He-man, Skelator, Cringer, Battle Cat, Skelators black panther, Evilynne (sp?), the guy with the stretchy neck (I think he was a later character from what I remember). I had a bunch of the toys as a kid. Snake Mountain was cool. But as far as for whos playing the characters, I must admit that I dont recall enough about their actual characters (personalities) or relationships to really comment.
Id only be doing it on a looks basis and that would be a poor thing to base a casting call on. :p

snake mountain for me is like the tower of the eye in LOTR. but maybe even cooler, with the mountainn's snake shape oozing lava from its mouth. it should be a spectacular visual in a new movie, of course if its done right

snake mountain should be a mixture of the classic and the new mvp toon look. the main thing the movie has to have is a decent story the rest will follow. i'd rather see something similer to LOTRS rather than the later conans

that's they way I'am imagining it no conan style more LOTR, also with the sword, no huge bulking sword but a more beautiful much thinner detailed sword the blade itself should be like aragorn's sword but a little bit thicker but with finnese and beauty, cool looking ,not just some piece of metal to cut down the enemy. BTW could you post a pic of the other snake mountain version or a comparative two pics of both SM versions?

Mischa Barton...not bad...not bad. In that one pic she sort of has a combonation of the curls going on from the original series and the kick ass red locks from the 2002 series. I do like the idea of Keira or Lindsay playing her. I think Liam Neeson is a decent choice for the loving yet stern Randor. He always seems to play the voice of reason...the person one can look up to. My choice for Skeletor is still Willem Dafoe. He's got musculature and the bone structure and the laugh anyway. And I stick by my choice of Ted Levine as Duncan. But if you look at one of my earlier posts....I did post up a casting call. Oh and I totally agree with the idea of it being EPIC like LOTR. A good fantasy director should be hired for this one. Any suggestions?

Well I would go with the obvious choice peter jackson, but I don't thin khe will do it, unless he got interested in the characters, but if not peter I would go with james cameron or ang lee, lee has demonstrated his skills for drama once more in broke back mountain, although I havent seen the movie I am sure it is great, in hulk he did a good job, its just that he should ahve cut atleast ten minutes of the first act, but you can't expect too much fro ma hulk movie no matter who does it, however kong is different because is full of different fantasy elements landaction thats breath taking and kong is simply the greatest cgi creation at this date, well the thing is that cameron would be perfect to direct he-man, he has done epics, and titanic is an epic, plus he's the best action director, terminator2 says it all, but since he's directing battle angel alita I would say ang lee its a safe choice and can still deliver the movie as good as cameron would, maybe even as good as jackson although thats difficult. for the special effects I would go with Weta hands down the best for this kind of movie, creature prostetics make-up, cgi, scanning dgital rendering digital enviroment rendering and everything else.

I was gonna say...you got your point across geesh. LOL. James Cameron is doing a live action version of an Anime I believe "Battle Angel". I think he would be good. A visionary director is exactly what a film like this could use. Of course this film should use elements of humor. All of which these Sci-FI/Fantasy directors often have. Someone mentioned Robert Zemeckis earlier...and he would be good. I think even an off cuff choice would be Terry Gilliam. But Jackson would be perfect to direct such a feature. New Zealand is such a lush landscape and is perfect for any kind of fantasy film. (Hence why they filmed Narnia there-lol). But there are a lot of great directors to choose from. And methinks a great writer should be attatched to such a film. And I think we should give a screenwriter from the 2002 cartoon/comicbook...which followed and even added to...the great mythology to these great characters. Not some lame "College frat comedy" dude...like the guy that Fox 2000 hired to write the screenplay when John Woo was attatched.

oh I didn't know thank god then that the movie didn't gto the green light, btw about Gillian please no he did that crappy brothers grim movie which was awful I think, but zemeckis well maybe yes, other than that I stick to cameron,or ang lee well jackson is my first choice but that won't happen, so Ill go with ang lee, maybe chris nolan he would be perfect also, but he has to get a great screen writer, one that also kind of controls him because he-amn is fantasy at its best and nolan tends to push reality too much, of course for batman is perfext but for MOTU he should keep the fantasy but make it i na serious tone not cheesy dialogue or stupid jokes and nolan's perfect for being serious he makes his movies almost too serious, as for the battles and fights bring an action director just for those nolan cuts edits the fights too close and too fast, but with an action director filming the action then and nolan crafting the story , it will be perfect.

Chris Nolan is a decent choice too...plus there is continuity between He-Man and Batman...A name Paul Dini. He worked on the original series as well as the Batman Animated series. Maybe he could have some insight into the direction of the film. NO doubt it must have humor...but nothing too overboard. Gilliam was a name I threw out there as a director. He has done some wild and visionary stuff in the past. (One of my favorite films "Time Bandits") But I do think he has lost his way. Ever since "The Man WHo Killed Don Quixote" debacle. Well if Transformers has Michael Bay at the helm...and with Spielberg producing...imagine what can be done with Masters.

I think it would be great with spielberg directing it, or nolan directing it and spielberg producing, but please no michael bay his work is good for what he does which is mainly action, but this is and action adventure with epic proportions, so I would stick with nolan and spielberg, maybe another choice could be wolfgang petersen but I am not too sure about that. and for paul dinni he's perfect he wrote many of the original series stories, yes I don't know about you but I bought the MOTU dvd series volume 1 and the special features are pretty good on disc six, it talks about dinni's involvement with the series and everything else about it, you probably have it though judging by your name lol, well what do you think, who else could be in the list?

I wasn't talking about Micael Bay helming He-Man...I was talking about him directing the Transformers film...and Spielberg is producing that. Robert Rodriguez is a decent director...as long as he doesn't use the premise to become one of his Kids Flicks. But he is a geek and quite a visionary director. And goes by source material. (Sin City) That is what was so special about Nolan. Ridley Scott has made some interesting films in his day. Most of which were on the side of sci fi and sword and sorcery. Which would be a decent mix b/c this is He-Man. LOL. Petersen is a pretty awesome choice...but he'd probably cast Brad Pitt as He-man. Hmmm...anyone else have any other suggestions? PS: Yes of course I bought Season One: Volume One. Complete regression back to childhood is almost complete.

Has Peter Jackson or Gore Verbinski been listed as potential MOTU director candidates?

No unfortunately, btw verbinski would be a good choice also, I didn't though about him before, oh and somewhere in the boards there's a new rumour about smallville's young lex luthor signing on to play skeletor in john woo's he-man, if this is true then the movie is going to happen which is good, but at the same time it really worries me since I don't think john woo is the right director for this movie,he's good with action, but Iam afraid fantasy is not he's cornerstone, if you know what I mean, and lex as skeletor? what the hell is that he's to skinny and well he just don't look like he could do skeletor justice, this could end up being and outrageous action extravaganza, and not a spectacular fantasy film, this could end up like dolph laundren's he-man agh, hopefullay this isn't true.

Michael Rosenbaum is WAYYYYY too young to play Keldor/Skeletor. What is needed...since he IS Randors brother...is someone close to the age of whomever would play Randor. But it pretty much makes an interesting idea. A full circle sort of thing. He-Mans first comicbook appearance he tusseled with Superman...Michael Rosenbaum is Lex Luthor on Smallville...in Bryan Singers SUperman Returns...Frank Langella (Who played Skeletor in the original feature) is playing Perry White. LOL! Anywho...Gore Verbinski is one kick ass choice for Director. We can only hope this...if Woo is still attatched to the project...that he ends up just producing. Woo is directing (Or has directed) The Rock in Spyhunter...(I HOPE that he doesn't end up being He-Man. If I were to choose a wrestler it'd be either Triple H or a guy by the name of Mark Jindrak) But its good to hear some rumblings about the film...I hope they have the original characters and such. And the guy that signed to pen the script is a B-Movie guy...so it might end up just as cheesey..if not more...as the original (WHich I love anyway). THAT has me worried. We can only hope that guys like Paul Dini and Dean Steffan and maybe even the creator of the franchise Roger Sweet can come aboard the project simply because they have insight. Maybe even get some of the artists (Like Emilio Santaluca-He did a kick ass job) from the old and new series and the comic books to help with the production design and costuming and prop design. There is news about production...www.he-man.org has posted up and article about the movie. It is rather interesting...but it is still pretty much dead in the water. But is still on the independent movie database...which means it is still alive...somewhat. Mr. Woo...if you ever go on this board. We need a good script...we need a great director...we need a cast of ACTORS (such as most Superhero films do nowadays)..we don't need this film to be cheesey and campy. There should be elements of it...but what we need is an epic..effects laden film with awesome battle scenes with swords...sorecery...and science...with lush and beautiful scenery. Either in New Zealand...or you could pull a Lucas and do it on blue screen. We want to see ETERNIA in all of its glory. And something that abides by the mythology of the character. Basically...perfection. To honor such a brand name. Yep...fellow members...THAT's pretty much why I go by MOTU FREAK. LOL! BTW...Happy New Year to everyone!!! (Was this post long enough? LOL)

I checked IMDB.com. You confused me Super Kong. LOL. It isn't the guy that plays LEX...Its the guy that plays Lex's Father LIONEL LUTHOR!!! John Glover (No relation to Danny). Personally he has the look for the man who was once Keldor. But I dunno if he has the Musculature...or the sword skill. But he does make a pretty good villian. And it looks like Jason Lewis is no longer attatched to play everyones favorite "most powerful man in the Universe". So the role is up for grabs. I saw this guy on the cover of muscle and fitness magazine...he's an Aussie...he's done very little acting...but he has the look. Unfortunately not the height. Check him out. www.davidrylah.com. I still think the screen writer ADAM RIFKIN is worthy enough. Just check out his film credits and you'd understand why. I do have to admit though...I'm glad there still is some life in this film. John Woo is still attatched to direct apparently. The Executive Producers credits scare me as well...check out www.imdb.com for both Adam Rifkin and Rodney Ferrell. But Woo's Producer Terrence Chang has pretty decent screen credits. (Simply b/c if you look him up...the name WOO comes up...time and time again...LOL). But hell at least there's life. Let me ask you guys a question...did anyone notice that Karg...the name of the big haired baddie with the hook on the original film was named after the little dragon that turned huge in the original series? The pet of the villian Azrog in the episode "Th Return of Orkos Uncle"! And did anyone notice...in I Love The 80s: 3D on VH-1 Dolph Lundgren. He looks great! Definitly part of He-Man lore...and should be part of this new film...in a cameo or something. Anyways...just thought I'd clear up the confusion.

Yea sorry I was confused, it is luthors father not luthor himsef, but still he doesn't have the muscle and, well acting wise he's pretty good but nothing else, lets wait for some official confirmation. I just check this david rylah and he's body would be great for he-man, but his face I don't know I really want someone that can resemble the look of a younger he-man, I don't know if you are wiht me on this one MOTU freak but I wanna see a younger he-man, someone around 27 28 years old, I love the original series in terms of the story and the visuals, but for he-man's look I would like him to resemble more the he-man from the new series, with a more stylized less boxy physical frame and a younger face, plus we need someone who can really act, I don't want them to cast another dolph laundren or a wrestler if you know what I mean.:)

untill its comes from an offical source or a decent fan source such as val staples dont beleive anything

just curious am i the only he-man fan on here that posts at he-man.org or do any of you

Okay can you tell me how the hell to post in those forums, because I've tried twice and it says that my e-mail adress is not acepted, and I have a regular hotmail account, is there something I most do to become a member? man I can't wait to discuss my ideas about the movie with fans of MOTU ,weird that MOTU freak hasn't mention this forum.

Isnt there a Bald Guy with an Eye Patch ? Thats who Michael can play

I just e-mail he-man.org and give them what I think is pretty cool news. Especially the deal with the name KARG being in the original cartoon series. And I do agree Val Staples is THE source for any MOTU news. But I still find it interesting that there are rumors about the project rumbling around. Superkong...I do agree with you...but look at his pic in Muscle and Fitness Magazine where he is in the water. He's not all that shiney and wrinkly from lifting anything. THAT is the pic that caught my eye. Plus when He-Man is Adam...he's supposed to be in his teens. When he's He-Man he's well All Man. In the original Filmation series they wanted to have Adam look younger and change him into the bulking He-Man...but the thing is...it cost too much so they made him look exactly the same. Only with darker skin...and with darker hair. I think that the Mike Young Productions version was dead on. I think a younger actor...like Jesse McCartney or maybe even David gallagher should play Adam. And maybe a muscle bound heroic looking ACTOR...to play The Most Powerful Man In The Universe. Rylah has the physique but unfortunately he stands under 6 feet. I believe he's 5'8" tall according to his site. I actually e-mailed him telling him he should try out for the role. He e-mailed me back wondering if I knew anyone in the biz...I replied "Well FOX 2000 studios (at the time) was producing the film. And the base, I believe in in Australia (where the guy is from). I don't know anyone in the biz...but you should just audition". I think they should go with a younger Adam...and a more mature looking guy for He-Man. (Triple H does have a certain He-Man quality to him...but I think he's too ugly big nose...slack jawed...short wrinkly and bladed up forehead). But as long as the actor they choose to play He-Man...I hope he's good enough.
