Just so I'm clear....for me thinking that maybe a new approach can be taken with Aprils Character makes my opinion of an actor less valuable?

Why not Casey Jones then?

Still calling them Ninja Turtles could mean taking out the Teenage and Mutant part of the mythos. You never know with Bay.

Theres no way Bay will look over this production. Maybe if he wasn't busy then yeah absolutely he would but he has two movies coming up. A passion project of his and a massive cg movie that requires lots of pre production. He has absolutely no time for this movie.

I never thought Teenage was any part of the story. Never once has the teenage ever come up in my thinking about the turtles. I think Ninja Turtles would be a great name for the movie, why? Because thats what we call them. Never do we do say Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, no we say the ninja turtles.

They can call it ninja turtles, but if the teenage aspect of the characters is gone completely, I.e. they aren't teenagers,then that would be pretty bad,no matter how Bay tries to spin it.

Variety said that they'll be focusing on the teenage aspect quite a bit actually.

For one I never said I wasn't open to a change to Casey's Character

Two: Caseys character hasn't changed at all in any of the adaptions unlike Aprils who's depiction has been Tweaked and changed quite a few times unlike Jones who's character has been consistantly the same as his original character
Three:I said I couldn't see jared in the role because as far as I know jones' hasn't changed so I assumed they would continue following the same casey we all know and love;if it ain't broke...... and on the topic of jared for all I know he could do the role justice and I could very well be wrong and he pulls it off...I'm just saying that's just something I can't see and there's nothing wrong with me thinking that. By the way did I say I like jared just not for the role? Lol

Anything else? Lol

Once again...I never said Jones character couldn't be changed I just don't see him being changed because he never really has...he has always been the rugged bad boy new york native who swings around his hockey stick/bat/golf club and kicks The Foots ass all over New York

I'd cast Ellie Kemper for April O'Neil, especially under more ideal creative circumstances. Which begs the question, how "dark" or "light" do you want this movie's tone to be? Do you want there to be comedic elements or do you want the material to be played completely straight?

I could see Bay removing Casey Jones or even April O'Neil and even Shredder from these films. I'm already emotionally prepared for such an announcement.

Bay will have a whole new set of human characters, just wait and see, There will be a teenage boy and girl romance. Of course the US military will join in the fighting, against a legion of evil turtle invaders bent on world domination, led by their evil war lord Shell!!!

Brilliant casting! I especially love the idea of Mara as April!!

I'd cast Ellie Kemper for April O'Neil, especially under more ideal creative circumstances. Which begs the question, how "dark" or "light" do you want this movie's tone to be? Do you want there to be comedic elements or do you want the material to be played completely straight?

You need a healthy dose of comedy to make a property like this work on screen. It can't take itself too seriously.

With that being said, it should have a darker slant than the past movies.

As long as they don't cast a wrestler for the role of Casey Jones, like The Rock or John Cena.

I'm starting to get excited for this film after the comments from Jonathan Liebesman have calmed some fears quite a bit. I'm very excited to see what comes together. I've always thought that the Ninja Turtles deserved another epic live action film and it looks like it's finally going to happen. I'll still always love the original Turtles film, but I'm excited to see where the franchise goes from here.

I was reading this thread and saw some very nice casting suggestions for April O'Neil. Bryce Dallas Howard, Ellie Kemper, Kate Mara and Gemma Arterton were all great suggestions, in my opinion. I'm also not against Emma Stone. I am a huge fans of hers. That having been said, I think that, with her playing Gwen Stacy and probably a ton of other things coming through, she will be much too busy for this.
