New Mutants New Mutants News and Discussion - Part 2

I'm looking forward to New Muitants, I love horror and I love X-Men..

Kevin Feige confirmed to Variety that talks are well underway about merging the Fox-owned characters into the MCU and he expects to begin cracking these stories in the first half of 2019.
“We’ve been told it’s looking very, very good and could happen in the first six months of next year,” Feige confirmed to Variety. “The notion of the characters coming back is great. It’s nice when a company that created all these characters can have access to all those characters. It’s unusual not to. But in terms of actually thinking about it and actually planning things, we haven’t started that yet.”

Kevin Feige Expects MCU to Begin Developing Fox Properties Like ‘X-Men’ in First Half of 2019

So much for the folks who keep saying that it will take years for Feige to get control of the X-franchise.

Will Feige's first move be dumping New Mutants on a streaming service? He probably wishes that he could.

I like that there are two different versions of this headline with the other one being "Feige hasn't begun developing stories for X-Men yet."

Well, legally Feige can't start officially developing the Fox-held franchises until after the deal finalized. That doesn't mean that he and his brain trust aren't unofficially kicking around ideas for integrating the returning heroes in any spare time they have during the runup to Endgame and Captain Marvel. The folks at Marvel Studios wouldn't be human if they weren't doing a little daydreaming in anticipation of what they'll be able to do with the X-Men and FF.

and not to mention that Feige has always said that he always has plans A and B to introduce the characters the other studios had, in case one day Marvel Studios get them back. So..... with this whole Fox-Disney thing that feels like started like a year ago (with the rumors and all).... at this point Id bet money Feige already has a lot of ideas on paper (not just his head) at his home.

I am so glad the mutants will no longer have to do with Kinberg's incompetence.

Although Feige always says that he hasn't really thought about these things, we'll see once the characters are back that Feige probably has highly developed plans for all of them. It will be as little thought as he gave to Spider-Man being in the MCU for Civil War. :o

He probably has a 50 year plan for the X-Men, displayed in the walls of his room. I can't wait to see them translate in the big screen very soon!

20 years, sure.

the saddest thing is there's zero expectation, hype, follow for this movie. like.. not even bad press.
like it had no re shoot whole year and nobody is talking about that. lol

I'm thinking they have a ten year plan. You never know, from one decade to the next superheroes may no longer be so trendy.

It won't be trendy if every superhero film turns out to be bad.

How bad does a movie have to be to make everyone involved want you to forget it ever even existed?

"last year i was in a comic book store where someone who works in the vfx biz was talking to the store owner about the scuttlebutt, which is that the movie ended up so muddled and awful that they will try to save it in editing. and, well.

as i recall the issue was that they tried to make a horror movie, but it ended up not scary. so horror fans will be turned off, and superhero fans will be turned off by it being a horror movie. god knows what the final form will be. the gent did say the yana actress was good"

Just heard a whisper through the grapevine. #newmutants will be delayed again. Fox & Boone are really struggling coming to terms on a comprehensible and finish product. They're looking to release it in early November. But...

Fox is still toying with a Hulu release in October for #newmutants. They're trying to decide which method would have a more returnable value for an otherwise dead on arrival film.

Somewhere around the level of Batman and Robin, I'd say. Which, coincidentally, is where Dark Phoenix is said to reside. Has New Mutants joined its sibling in those murky depths?

this movie is a disaster! I mean it really is just with the delays. This wouldn't hppen if they knew eXactly what to do with the ip.

I come bearing news again regarding #newmutants Had to wait a week on this but I finally got word it's true. New Mutants will not be set in the in the same universe as the other X-Men films (DoFP, Deadpool, Dark Phoenix). The movie is on it's own now (like Legion and Gifted)
Prior version had ties, but what Fox is going with is almost being scrubbed clean. It was so bad how much the film was being distant from the other films they almost cut out the word "mutant" in film despite it being in the title.

Not a huge surprise but from what I hear Gambit and Dr. Doom are officially dead. As for X-Force, it's not "Officially" dead, but they only have two months to start filming it and that's not gonna happen. So... not happening, not with Fox anyway.
New Mutants will be the last X-Men Universe movie for Fox and Dark Phoenix the last one coming from the main series.
Silver Surfer, Kitty Pryde and Multiple Man are also dead...
