The Dark Knight New name for Dent (YES, NEW!)

It would not necessarily be a cliche because in the books there have been a numerous amount of tragedies that have occured in Bruces' life that have kept him driven. Plus with Rachel dying it fall into the "things needing to get worse before they can get better" category.

She makes a solid point though, I mean his parents where killed in front of him when he was a kid, he waited his whole life to get vengence, I don't know if killing his kind of/sort of girlfriend will be as strong a reaction as that

though it could bring about the everybody I love dies, or gets hurt angle when Dent gets scarred, and he will have to bring himself out of that with a little help from Michael Caine

Rachel...to be or not to be...

Good question. I don't know where theyre going with her character specifically. If they kill her off, it'll be done well, no doubt.

I do know that everyone who stands for justice will face some really difficult demons of their own in this one. They will all be tested. "Everything has to get worse before it can get better..." This includes the personal lives/psyches of the main characters.

Exactly.....

From Caine... and of course in a different way from Oldman and Freeman. It would be cool to see Dr Leslie Thompkins in there as well in this one.

Thanks for the info, Gill! :woot:

I'm not really disputing the fact that the Nolans could probably pull off killing Rachel in a way that would be unexpected/different, I just feel like Bruce has kind of moved on from revenge. But, equally, his anger is a personal demon of his own and killing her could bring it to the surface so...yes, I can sort of see it working now.

The personal demons idea sounds much more intriguing. This film sounds very character driven, which is awesome. :)

BTW, about this 'new' guy:

UPDATED: The actor in question is not up for the part of Dent according to his management. FYI...

It's Mark Whalberg. I know Jett doesn't like people reposting stuff he only says on the forums (what does he expect though?), but he gave away obvious clues there.

At the end of his post, he said "well I guess i'll depart, but keep those good vibrations coming."

Now, "depart" is obviously a clue pointing to the recent movie The Departed, however another clue is the "good vibrations" thing, which as someone pointed out is the title of a song by our friend Marky Mark.

lol.

I wasn't too crazy about Wahlberg so this is good to hear.

Phoenix makes more sense because I remember Jett saying before how he wasn't keen on him for Dent, even though he was a good actor.

Jett isn't really one for dropping hints so I don't think the 'depart' stuff should be read into much.
I'm not sure but I certainly do hope so:

PHO-ENIX DAMMIT!
:woot:

Wahlberg or not, I don't know. But I hate it when Jett plays his "I've got a new name, I'm going to look into it, but either way I'm never going to tell you who it is" games.

totally. it's old and frustrating and he KEEPS doing it.

BTW, does anyone else find the wording a little curious though?

Notice that it doesn't say 'not up for a part' or something similar. Hrmmm...

Hrm, good catch. I hadn't thought of that. That could mean Sionis or somebody...

*nods* I thought of that. Most interesting. :)

Heh, I like to read way too much into stuff. English Literature studies ate me alive, I'm afraid, and now I must analyze everything.

Maybe he means Marky Mark is playing Harvey Bullock, Flass was fat in BB so they could make Bullock tall and slim. :wow:

I noticed something Mark Wahlberg is not tall though....

Well, I'm Mister-Explicates-the-lyrics-to-every-song-he-knows, so I totally understand. ;)

LOL!!!

I still say fat Flass is gonna be used as a Bullock-type role in TDK and sequel... after all, why have two crooked cops when you can just use one?
